I was curious to see which, if any, United YouTube Fan Channels we are into?

I know we all like a good chuckle at AFTV when Arsenal lose, but do you any of you subscribe to any United-related channels?

The biggest one seems to be The United Stand which boasts 961,000 Subcribers - I don't subscribe to it personally, but Mark Goldbridge (114,000 Subscribers) has kind of grown on me a bit - I used to really dislike him, but I now actually find him quite funny at times.

The ones I do subscribe to are: Stretford Paddock which has 574,000 Subcribers and was sort of a phoenix channel to Full Time Devils which folded last year.

I also follow Stephen Howson (160,000 Subs) who is my personal favourite United YouTuber, although he seems to be a bit of a divisive figure on here.

Statman Dave is a popular one (247,000 Subs) having now been been poached by MUTV.

Let's hear your thoughts: do you subscribe to any of these channels? Did you watch fan cams before Covid? What do you think of these guys like Goldbridge, Howson, Adam McKola, etc?

Gideon Haigh, the great cricket writer, described sports punditry during the pandemic as "Large men sat on couches and at desks in front of television cameras saying more and more about less and less until they had described everything about nothing" which also sums up nearly all the content on YouTube fan channels and podcasts regardless of whether football/sport is on or not.

Listening to what Goldbridge has to say should be a bannable offense. A complete and utter clown.

Howsons a bit of a knob but at least he’s a United fan. Watched his interview with Rene Muleensteen the other day, really interesting.

Not sure if this constitutes as a fan channel, but it's a channel and the owner is definitely a fan:

The bold sounds like most discussions on RedCafe tbh, it's just a different medium.

I listen to the post game stuff on United Stand sometimes, but the day to day news/opinion stuff is meh. At least on a forum you can engage in the discussions about useless day to day shit. Post game though I prefer listening to peoples opinions because with forum based discussions it's harder to determine the tone or full context of what people are saying, and generally discussions descend into pedantic circular arguments.

Why do people want to watch unqualified people talk about football?
Why do people go on forums and read hundreds of unqualified people talk about football? Why do unqualified people talk about football at all for that matter?

I don't really get it either. I get my dose of that on the Caf.

Hell, I'm not even that interested in qualified people talking about football. Pros can spout the most tired clichés sometimes.

I'm totally with you.

I don't tune in for any of the punditry anymore, only the game.

I then get my fix of football chat on the Caf and a few private WhatsApp groups.

I watch AFTV every time Arsenal have a bad result, but that's soap opera for me as opposed to forensic analysis.

i watch some united stand but you only need to watch about 10 mins instead of 30

Lots of them have gone off doing their individial thing but teaming up on each others shows, so its all diluted things a lot

What and the ones on TV are “qualified” ? There’s about 3-4 ex player pundits that actually talk sense, the rest are unbearable and talk a lot of sh*te,

Some Fan Channels actually know what there talking about and provide interesting analysis, Stephen Howson being one of them, there not all AFTV click bait prats

As I said above, I don't watch any of the professional punditry anymore either.

Howson has a track record of some very questionable behaviour, despite what he would tell you when he occasionally comes on here for PR reasons.

All the YouTube lot are in it for the clicks and rarely come up with anything coherent or insightful.

The United Hour pod is probably the best fan-driven content I've consumed.

I watch football YouTubers more for comedy than for anything informative. I find Stratford Paddock a bit boring, they are good for informative United content though

- United Stand (mostly for Flex & KG)
- Expressions Oozing (my favourite, Spurs fan)
- Hughwizzy (Arsenal fan)
- Kopish (Liverpool, only when they lose)
- Troopz (Arsenal, only when they lose)
- Rants n Bants (Utd, I don’t really like him but he has a lot of great guests on, Avelino (the rapper) is on sometimes & absolutely hilarious
- Rory Jennings (Chelsea, seems a nice chap, gives us a lot of respect)

Used to watch FullTimeDevils, enjoyed watching Adam McKola and Andy Tate, not so much Stephen Howson. But stopped doing it like 3 years ago.

I only watch AFTV for the laugh now.

For me Adam McKola is probably the one I enjoy most.

Can't stand TUS, Rants N Bants, Webby and O'Neil... Stretford Paddock however is alright at times but Howson and Joe come across annoying at times.

Love McKola don't always agree but I find him to be on the money a lot of the time.

Forgot about Webby & O'Neil - I gave them a go when they first started but unsubscribed after a short while. They're obviously well connected at the club (think they're the doormen at Hotel Football? Correct me if I'm wrong) and get great guests on like Neville, Giggs, etc. But I don't find them very engaging at all.

I watch United Stand and Stretford Paddock. As for why it's a good way to keep up to date with things and good to listen to other opinions, it's also funny at times and highly entertaining. KG on the United Stand is a great laugh, he did a video basically taking the piss out of Liverpool losing to Burnley the other night which was a good laugh to watch.

Yeah, they're the one's. They're better now. You should give them a try again.

I don't watch any.
I have seen a few Mark Goldbridge compilations of him playing Fifa/responding to United losses etc. He's hilarious, he just witters on, very David Brent like.

I don't watch anything on the regular but I would watch the odd Stretford Paddock, United stand & one one other I can't remember what you call him.

Edit: it's Stephen Howson.

United Central. I don’t know all these others had there own person channel. Mckola still does content?

It’s all mostly just entertainment value. Watch KG on United Stand if you ever want to feel gassed.

None of them honestly, it's basically just an opinion of someone that decided to make a youtube channel.

The videos are also grotesquely long, some of them are around an hour to hear a fan say their opinion.

I watch what pundits say, I watch what managers say but not really Journalists of fans/fan cams.

I watch The United Stand, have done since it had 26k subs. Enjoy it and there is no more nonsense on there than in here to be fair.

I mostly watch United Stand, Im quite busy and don't have time to follow a lot of fanchannels, but I do like having United Stand on in the background while I'm working or for the Post-Match player ratings and banter that follows. I don't follow the watchalongs since I prefer to just watch the game myself, but I enjoy the discussion before and after.

Mark has a very energetic presence so he's easy to listen to, and I just enjoy the discussion of rumours and player performances. But overall I enjoy the whole cast of United Stand. I dont agree with everything I hear, but that's sort of the point of a fan community isn't it, that people have different opinions? The Post Match following a win is a guilty pleasure, in the absence of actual humans to interact with over a win, this is a great option for me.

I'm sure there are more fan channels that are fun and engaging, but this is my pick.

It's a bit like comin to the Caf. Some people here I agree with, some people I'd have a beer with, and some of you I'd volounteer as a SpaceX test flight crash pilot. It's all part of the package.

Why’s Full Time Devils any better than the United Stand?

Just out of interest no hidden agenda.

Whoever is viral. I also like a Goldbridge clip from time to time, but I would probably detest him if I watched him all the time.

Then why bother voicing your opinion if no one should ever listen to it?
I think it’s cathartic to write.

In any case, I think some people obviously read what I post, as evidenced by this exchange, but I don’t claim to have any sort of special insight.

I doubt anyone ever went and shared what Feed Me on Red Cafe has to say, unless it was to have a laugh at me

Webby & O'Neill. Think Webby is socially-distancing at the moment so he's doing his bits via video which isn't the same.
