Sheffield United Football Club (nicknamed The Blades because of Sheffield's history as a steel city, Red and White Wizards and Red and White Army) is an English professional football club based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Sheffield United was founded on 22 March 1889 at the Adelphi Hotel, Sheffield by the President of the Cricket Club, Charles Clegg (also the President of Sheffield Wednesday and later the Chairman of the Football Association).

Sheffield United's greatest years came immediately after their formation — as they enjoyed an unbroken 37-season spell in the top flight (which remains a record for a newly promoted team) won the League Championship in 1897/98, and were runners up in 1896/97 and 1899/1900. Since then Sheffield battled relegation to lower divisions, with the nadir proving to be the 1978/79 season where they were relegated to the Third Division. They enjoyed better years after the turn of the millennium — narrowly missing out on promotion playoffs for the Premier League in 2003/04 and 2004/05 (eventually securing promotion in 2006); as well as reaching the FA Cup and League Cup semi-finals. However, they were again relegated to the League One on 30 April 2011.

Sheffield United's most noteworthy rivalries include city neighbors Sheffield Wednesday (dubbed the Steel City Derby), Nottingham Forest, Barnsley, Leeds United, Doncaster Rovers and Rotherham United. Sheffield United play their home games at the historic Bramall Lane, the oldest major league ground in the world, having hosted its first game in 1862 a match between Sheffield Club and and Hallam. It also hosted the world's first ever floodlit football match on 14 October 1878.

Pending Rashford being ok (Ole said he'll have a scan tomorrow), then that lineup looks pretty decent.

Matic seems to have drifted out of the picture a little though, so I wonder if Fred might start having been rested today.
Probably better to play as part of McFred v Arsenal in the game after though.

Bailly back in, rest Shaw and Rashford, I'm guessing Ole feels Cavani can play back to back to back games.

Defense picks itself with Lindelof being half-fit according to some reports. Pogba has also been running a lot compared to his usual level, but if he feels up to it he should start over Fred. Rashford may be benched to avoid any risk and Cavani just played back to back games, so may be rested. The third attacker spot is then between James and Mata and I'd prefer Mata's interplay with Bruno to unlock the Sheffield defense.

I would be shocked if Rashford is fit for this game. Hopefully he's not out for long. I would rest Pogba and Shaw for the Arsenal game. I know this is a risk but I'm thinking this team should get it done. If at half-time we're not ahead, then I would just bring Pogba on at half-time, wouldn't want to risk it.

I would love Diallo to make the bench but I don't think it will happen.

I think we will probably rotate a bit here as we have 2 hard games back to back after this.

I’d rest Cavani after two games, he didn’t look quite as mobile as midweek.

    De Gea
    Wan Bissaka
    Bailly
    Maguire
    Telles

    Fred
Donny (think he needs a few games in a row)
    Bruno

    Greenwood
    Martial
    Pogba

Worth ringing the changes here with Arsenal at the weekend. Give Pogba, Rashford, Shaw, McFred and Cavani a rest ahead of Arsenal.

No excuse for not beating these.
    Can't underestimate them.
But it's definitely an important game, as Liverpool are away at Tottenham and it gives us a good chance to boost that 6 point margin.

Definitely need to give Shaw a rest here, as he's put in some sterling knackering performances recently.

If Rashy is fit, I'd consider resting Pogba for Arsenal too.
Cavani goes without saying needs to rest, having started 2 in a row and played 90 today.

What my heart would give for a comfortable win.

I'd start martial as he scored a hat trick against them last season and scored this season. I believe in trends like that.

Could we start Greenwood up front?

It seems like the game to experiment and would perhaps get the best out of him.

Martial looks out of form and might be better on the left especially if Rashford is injured. Mata or Dan James could play right with Diallo coming on for the last 20 minutes.

I think this is worth a shot. We need to manage Cavani to ensure he's effective during the season, so no harm putting Greenwood in CF. I think Mata is too slow now for a RW role though.

and probably haul off AWB after an hour to get him a rest. Tuanzebe if we're up and I guess Williams if we aren't and want more attacking play.

    Main things I expect are:
    • De Gea back in goal
    • Bailly over Lindelof
    • Telles over Shaw
    • Matic to start
    • Martial to start
To be seen who keeps their place, but I'd wager Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Pogba and Bruno 100% start as well. I think this might be a very similar line-up to the Fulham game:

    de Gea
    Wan-Bissaka Bailly Maguire Telles
    Pogba Matic
    Greenwood Bruno Martial
    Cavani

I expect Rashford's knock is minor, but he may be on the bench with Arsenal in mind. I fancy Fred & McTominay to come back in against Arsenal, along with Shaw & maybe even Lindelof. Rashford could start here, probably over Cavani if the latter is in the plans to start at Arsenal.

I've not been looking forward to our games as much as I have in the past couple of months. Feels good to have our team back again!

I think Bruno needs to be rested for Arsenal. Matic and Pogba as the central pivot would work well. Don't know if we should risk Rashford for the full 90.

Wan-Bissaka, Shaw and Pogba have had played a lot of football of late. Be nice to see them get a rest.

Think Telles will definitely come in for Shaw. Possibly Matic and Fred as the pivot, giving Pogba a rest.

Tuanzebe hasn't looked too bad at right back and could come in for Wan-Bissaka but I can't imagine Ole will change up his back four too much.

Hopefully, we'll have enough for them whatever Ole goes with.

Got a rum feeling this might not be the satisfying win we're all hoping for. I expect we'll win, but it might be a bit of a slog. Yes, they're hopeless, but they're desperate too. And desperate teams tend to show up for games against us which feel like a bit of a 'free hit'.

Despite proving our mettle with this unbeaten run, it does feel like we need to give someone a thrashing to give certain a players a shot of confidence. It's been a while since we've put in a really good 90 minutes. Hopefully my gut is wrong and we can do that here and score a hatful.

I wouldn't rest Shaw. I think he's one of those players who's better kept in the groove.

AWB could use a rest. So could Pogba. And I'd rather get Cavani fresh again for Arsenal. I expect Rashford won't be risked with any kind of discomfort in his knee. Would like to see Greenwood up front, to see if he can build on that good performance and goal vs Liverpool. So:

    DDG
    Williams Bailly Maguire Shaw
    Fred Matic
    Mata Bruno Martial
    Greenwood

Not very comfortable with Williams at RB but I don't see a better option. I don't like Tuanzebe there, especially against a team we should be dominating. He's a CB.

Don't see Ole resting many for this, despite Arsenal just days after - he'll want to keep the momentum going. Can see him playing the big guns hoping to get the game won early, then taking them off second half.

Definitely need Martial to get a confidence boost here - it would be such a bonus if all 4 of our attackers are firing on all cylinders.

Rest for Shaw, and to a degree Pogba as well.
