Why would Pogba want to leave United now?

I think he made it pretty clear. He isn't going to be happy if we don't win anything. He will probably leave next summer if we finish trophyless.
Well to be fair, he hasn't exactly helped either to win as much as he expects! He plays like a 14 year old playing with a bunch of 7 year olds on the pitch 95% of the time.

I can count on one hand when he took the game into his own hands but most of the time he would rather do something that would be on a highlight reel on youtube.

Maybe Ole has motivated Pogba “what about leaving United on top with a smile, perhaps with a title”? It’s a win win for United and Pogba. We get more money and Pogba becomes more attractive.

I think RM is the only alternative. Pogba wants to test himself at a “bigger club” and RM need reinforcement. They are a good match.

I hope Pogba stays, but I think the summer window is the perfect timing for Pogba to move on. If United and Pogba is able to complete this season on current track, I think we can expect 50-70m for Pogba.

We should also consider money + Casemiro or Valverde.

He has been such an underwhelming signing.

I really couldn't care less if he goes.

Sad to say but it's how I feel.

Pogba came from a team in Juventus where he was winning/challenging for major trophies, so it's only natural for players to leave and go elsewhere in search of trophies if the club they're at are not doing that.

That being said, Ole looks to be building an exciting team. Do I think we're the full package? No! I certainly feel we need a few more players to really put us up there but I do think we're going in the right direction and from Pogba's point of view, it's something that he'd probably be looking at and thinking he wants to be part of it. To add to that, Real, Barca and Juve aren't exactly pulling up any trees and the aforementioned teams all seem to be going through a transition, whereas I feel we're coming to the end of ours.

Guess time will tell but if Pogba does leave, we need to be replacing him with a top class player because whether people like it or not, that's what he is.

This sums it up. We’re doing well at the minute sure - but we’re not that level yet
He's already won it with Juve, and to be honest I can't see Pogba fancying it in Ligue 1. It's the CL he wants, and yes he might do it with PSG, but Juve don't look much better than us at the moment.

I think it would mean so much for Pogba to win things with us. He clearly cares for the club, why else would he have come back?

Reading between the lines on his comments after the Fulham game, and him saying "I'm always happy when we're winning" basically seems like him saying he wants to be a part of a winning squad. If he feels like at United that's a real possibility, then surely he can be convinced to stay?

It's annoying that he might only willing to double down when we're heading in the right direction, when the likes of Rashford and Bruno you feel would give us their all no matter what, but if you have a chance to keep a player like Pogba onside and happy, wouldn't you try?

this is dumb. how the hell is one player going to "enable" a club to challenge for major honours? The biggest and most consistent players in the world have best in class supporting cast.
Look at what Bruno is doing now dummy!

your posts keep getting dumber.

1. We're yet to challenge for a major trophy
2. Rashford has arguably been our best player this season
3. By virtue of having current Rashford, Cavani & Pogba has his supporting cast, Bruno already has better support cast than Pogba did. Our team/squad has been incredibly poor in terms of quality for years. Bruno has a settled Fred, Maguire (some people rate him), and a relatively mature Rashford, as well as break through talent like Greenwood. Pogba had to lead United in the majority of core attacking stats, despite playing from midfield, and not always as advanced as the role Bruno plays.

Are you OK?

That’s the spirit. He’s been at his best for us in recent weeks. If staying on top brings the best of him so be it.

This is 100% because of the quality Ole brought in aka Bruno, Cavani et al

Are you questioning his morality? Of course, he shouldn't be the one questioning our ambition and results as he hasn't contributed much to it. That doesn't prevent him from letting people know what he wants though which is pretty clear. He wants to play in a team with elite players who take much of the pressure off him, where he isn't the one trying to make things happen all the time, and where he can express himself and play freely.

For the first time during his second stint with us have we really accumulated a squad that doesn't require him to be the savior all the time. I think he will renew with us.

Honestly, for once, we should sell a player when their stock is high like right now for Pogba. We may get a decent fee and buy someone who wants to be here and doesn't have his agent spewing venom every 3 months. In other words, lets learn something from Chelsea.
Agreed. He is playing well but I dont think he can be relied on to the same extent as Bruno. If we are in a bad spot, I think he and his agent are more likely to make things worse than better. I'd rather have DVDB playing regularly and have the 80-120 million we could get from PSG.

It’s very strange, the whole Pogba thing.

He acts as if he isn’t partly to blame as to why the club hasn’t been challenging over the last 4-5 years. He is as much to blame as anyone else and has had just as many poor games as really good ones, arguably more of them.

He was a big money transfer and a star player and just hasn’t produced consistently since he came back. Bruno has come in and instantly made a massive difference and that has put an even bigger focus on his comparable lack of contribution.

If you are a top player, you need to contribute consistently and I hope this is him finally realizing this.

You can’t lament an issue that you are a massive part of. It’s not everyone else’s problem. You can’t be fed up when you don’t contribute enough.

I hope this is the start of a committed and motivated Pogba, but I feel it’s Pogba playing for a move, which would just confirm his character to me.

I believe the comments made about his attitude, haircuts & dancing are brought on by his race, whether conscious or unconscious, well that probably varies, but yes, I believe his race plays a part & I believe he would take less stick if he was a white man. I know this is a touchy subject & im not saying he’s hated because he’s black, but do I believe him being black does play a part? yes 1000%

I’m not talking about the caf, I’m talking about the fan base as a whole. Rooney tried to force moves to two title rivals, one City. What Pogba has done isn’t as bad, yet he’s hated far more than Wayne was.
Need to take into account that we were winning trophies left and right on that Ronney's era. Under Mou's, we're playing utterly shite and not much winning trophies. I believe if we had peak Rooney that tried to force moves to City during this time while being inconsistent on the field, he'd be crushed to no end.

I would. Of course. I don't care about his ambitions/media comments/agents. That's modern footballers.

I played FM and couldn't care less if my great players talk shit about their future, if I can lock them down for 10 years, I would, be my "slave".

As a fellow FM player, what in crikey feck has real football got to do with a video game?

You're playing a piece of static code, producing a few results.

Real life is dynamic, and we've not got a clue on what's been going on behind the scenes.

In terms of reality, Raiola was most probably amplifying the frustrations of Paul Pogba and a poor United side lacking quality, style and ambition.

We've got all that, and realistically I think the greatest chance is that he renews.
I don't think Juve will pay for him, nor will Madrid, and he won't join PSG, so he's really going nowhere.

Which is good. We have other areas of the squad to focus on.

FM made Ole what he is today.

I have many situations like this, managing mid table club with world class potential players having high ambitions and wanting to leave, but in 3 years left of the contract, finally won something, complete the squad building and won something. The player might actually stay, same thing can be applied here.

If we keep winning, and win something, Pogba might actually stay.

You're kidding, right?

Nothing to do with arguably playing for the greatest manager of all time? Learning from him?
Nothing to do with managing at youth level? Molde? Cardiff?
No studying of coaching methods, techniques and developing his own form of play?

No? It had all to do with a point and click game?

I suppose that means I could quite naturally be a management God.

My 3-0-7 formation will dominate the world!

He just wants to win. All I see is that he looks very happy and that he's been playing his best football ever since he came back to the club.
As far as I am concerned I'd do anything to make him stay

Ozil, Aubameyang, DDG & (although bit different) Sanchez. We have seen lot of players getting massive improved contract and performed worse than what they used to be.

Most of the fans (at least the ones on here) seem to want him gone, for a start
I am a big Pogba fan and I still want him gone. First of all because I don't think his style really suits us. Pogba will never work hard for the ball, there will always be times when he dilly dally with the ball a bit too much breaking our quick transition from defence to attack. These sort of things might work well in a slower style of football like the Serie A but it won't work well for us. Secondly its due to Mino Raiola. The guy is a leach and he's hired to be so. If Pogba remains then we'll have drama on a nearly yearly basis. If we fail to seriously compete for the EPL title? Then Mino will moan and threaten. If we fail to make to the latter stages of the CL then Mino will moan and threaten. If someone else is paid more then Pogba then Mino will moan and threaten. Mino will moan and threaten when Pogba is reaching his end of contract. Do you really want that?

So I say let's sell him for good money and move on.

PSG & Juve will offer him a major trophy every season along with CL knockout football every year.

We can't offer that, yet.
If he wants to play in a 1 horse league then by all means he should leave. Honestly I don't know why he bothered coming back in the first place. Its evident that Manchester United won't be dominating the EPL. No one does that these days.

We need players who actually work hard to achieve trophies rather then merely expect them to fall right on his laps.

Because of Raiola, the Witch.
Anyone who hires Mino Raiola knows what he's doing. Mino is known of squeezing every penny out of any player's career which means that the player in question must prepare himself to have his suit ready to move to 'greener pastures' at a moment notice. Mino can't care less about legacy, honour or history. He only care about the player's wellbeing which in his books is extracting as much money as possible out of the clubs they play for. Don't think for one second that Pogba doesn't know and approve what Mino is doing.

In the end if he doesnt sign an extension then from January 2022 he can sign a precontact with any other club. So the club dont have much of a choice here. Dont sign then we have to try to get something of a transfer fee for you this summer.

If his agent wasnt Riola, then i would suggest there maybe a possibility of him doing a Mbappe (who is rumoured to be considering an extension as Madrid dont have funds to buy him) and extending by a year or two. That way he gets a payrise, club get insurance that he cant leave on a free anytime soon. Just add a clause to his contract or make him a promise as fergie did with Ronaldo that the club will let him go to Madrid if they make a acceptable offer for him. Happy player, happy club, sorta happy fans.

I'd offer him a renewal for a year or two with a pay rise as another said and sort of the remaining gaps in the squad which isn't far off.

Buy a CDM, CB, RW for big money (Sancho, Rice, CB) in the summer and offload a few players that aren't up to scratch (get them off the wage books) and offload players like Lingard, Dalot.

Then if United do challenge or even win a title, Pogba can perhaps think if he wants to stay or not since United would have one of the best squads in Europe again.

I think if United is back to being one of the biggest clubs again on the pitch, and the club is challenging for honours at that point why leave.

Offer him a 3 year renewal with a nice pay bump,, and a £150 buyout clause as a carrot for Raiola.

FM is usually spot on with its player conversations, to be fair. Very realistic.

United lose 1-0 to Arsenal, Pogba gives away a moronic penalty. Ole goes to the Interaction tab, selects Criticize Performance, and tells Pogba he played like shite yesterday.

Pogba: "my performance was excellent, have you been to the optician's lately?"

Andy Mitten suggesting in the United podcast from the Athletic that Pogba is really happy right now and he could see him staying. He hasn’t been offered a new contract at any point up until this point. I’d definitely offer him one if this form continues.

I agree, I'm sorry to say I don't trust Pogba to perform at an acceptable level consistently, and if we have a bad patch I can see him reverting to the player he has been for most of the last 4 years; listless, disenchanted, unhappy, unwilling and a liability. Yes he's playing very well at this time, but for how much longer? If he decides to stay I'll give him the same respect and support I give all our players, but I will always have my doubts about his attitude and desire to play for Manchester United.
