One of the most beautiful misses I may have ever seen. A real tragedy it wasn't about 6 inches to the left. Great cross, great header, great disappointment.

And he only sulks for half a second, gets right back up and into defensive position. Workahaulic. Hope everyone else on the pitch and on the bench was taking notes.

That's what we haven't had since Ibra in honesty, someone who actually attacks the ball. That Ibra header versus Wes Morgan in the Community Shield was similar, it's such a cliché but you have to put your head through the ball.

I do think, for all the positivity, he should score given it's a free header but hopefully a sign of things to come and might give our full backs a bit more reason to put crosses into the box now they know Edsalmon Cavani is lurking.

Oh yeah, I remember a lot of people on here in 2010 were absolutely convinced he wasn't a legend for us - as I said, I'd disagree
Therein lies the problem. At any one point you will have tonnes of people on here who are wrong or, more to the point, have their own "confrontational keyboard warrior" agenda.

Back when Beckham was still with us there were a lot less trolls on here. It is fair to say some of us disliked the fanfare/spice boy stuff and didn't want that around the club/team.

Posh Spice wasn't very popular, she was to us what Raiola is to Pogba. Some may have gone as far as wanting him gone for it, quite a few saw it as a necessity post-boot incident, a fair few more reacted angrily to his insistence of only moving to Real. I doubt anyone in their right frame of mind will dispute him as a legend all these years later.

In fact, even leaving his football aside, it's clear the popularity and fanbase brought by all that media attention and poster boy nonsense has served the club extremely well over the long term.

I've find Cavani's performances a little overrated on here.

Makes some good runs like a proper chances, misses some sitters but gives that feeling of a central striker as a tactic that allows us to play martial & Rashford out wide.

Not much else and personally dont feel he would have scored tonight if he started ad we may have lost out one more midfielder in an area Liverpool looks to dominate at.
Perhaps you've changed that view now
Told you, he misses sitters and is a bit overrated. He has always been a striker who missed sitters.

His impact is massively overstated. He just missed an open net and a chance from five yards...and because it’s Cavani Neville couldn’t care less

It's really not. He's our best striker with the best movement, key for his chances and others, like Rashford's in the first half. He was in the positions to miss the chances at least. If he wasn't, no one else would be.

No, it's not. Christ. He's the best striker we have at the club

He missed one really good chance today, granted. The other chance people are criticizing him for is ridiculous. The ball was behind him and he does really well to get contact on it. Watch his movement off the ball and see how often nobody picks him out. No one else at the club has that movement.

How many goals has he scored? How many games has he scored in?

What’s he done? The Leicester game and the Southampton game aside ?

Scored five goals, two against Southampton, one against Fulham, one against Everton in the league and I think same again in the cup? Has also added a presence upfront and his pressing has been fantastic.

He is not going to score in every game. He should also not start many games but come on as a sub but this is sadly not possible with the form of our other attackers.

His a stop gap. His been okay but his presence has highlighted that Martial isn’t the answer to that ST position. The truth is Cavani isn’t either.

Starts in a game vs. a decent side away, misses a good chance, we draw. This just a few days after our other striker gave a 1/10 performance against the worst team in the league at home and we lost.
The result... gets called Donkey by @GifLord and gets a slating by many fans. And @Wumminator wonders why this place is toxic?

I like him but wouldn't give him another season.

The team needs someone more effective and long-term than him.

This team not playing to his strengths. When you got Rashford and AWB going down the right flank and Martial cutting inside on the left you can uderstand why hes not making the number nine runs.
I think he's been a pleasant addition.

I don’t really agree with a lot of the comments in here, he wasn’t brilliant and missed his chances but that can happen. He’s brought a lot to our side, if Martial hadn’t dropped a couple of levels this season then he wouldn’t be relied on so heavily.

The difference with him and martial is when both have poor games, cavani will still work his socks off and fight for everything, it doesn't help that we lack creativity to make the most of the great movement he has in him inside the penalty box. I mean how many great crosses do we put into the box for a striker like him?

Definitely adds something to the side, but we need a clinical number 9 as our wide forwards are hopelessly out of form. At PSG he had Mbappe and Neymar scoring if he was missing sitters- we don’t have that luxury!

Well, he's started 5 Premier League games. Got 4 goals and two assists, some of which were really important. Aside from that, he's added a presence and a movement up front that none of our other strikers have. His work rate and runs off the ball are incredible, which then creates space for others, as what happened with Rashfords chance today.

His hold up play is also better than any other one of our forward players. His attitude is spot on, and he's been nothing but the ultimate professional since he's come here. He missed one very good chance today, but even still he brings that movement and intelligence that, if one of our players would lift their heads up more and pass to him (like Rashford should have), he would probably have more goals to his name.

He’s been great for us but he’s not the answer long term and we need to get serious about the position because it costing us big time. Haaland or Martinez are needed and we need at least one creative player on the wing instead of inverted strikers. It’s like what we used to do at the end of games having so many strikers on the pitch but now they all start and just get in each other’s way. They aren’t near creative enough. We’ve already got great value out of Cavani but he shouldn’t be the one carrying us. If he was signed to do that then that is quite worrying.

Cost us a win today. Missed absolute sitters.
Meh, he did really poor in both chances but Rashford's chance in the first half was easier than anything Cavani or any other player missed today, maybe from even both sides.

I’d say the first big chance in the second half where it was played in from the left side was the easiest chance.

Rashford should have done better for sure but he’s closed down quickly when he’s trying to set himself (should have hit it first time.)
Cavani just has to connect on that ball in and it’s a goal all day long, harder to miss really.

He really didn't do poor on both chances, though. The second one he made a run, the ball comes in behind him, and he had to contort his body to get any contact on it. If anything, he was very unlucky not to score.
