Am I the only one that finds this hilarious?

It's like taking the piss out of yourself before everyone else can.
That's always a good idea. I practice it religiously.

There's also the more obvious message of owning up and not hiding or making excuses. A good one to get across to his teammates.

I really hope Martial rediscovers his form soon because Cavani isn't good enough to be our starting striker. He's a good option against certain teams and will always be a threat from the bench but he doesn't offer enough over the course of a game unfortunately.
I have the similar opinion as yours. I think he would be a great option as an impactful sub. Whenever he leads the line from the start XI, I just know we won’t have chemistry and agility to penetrate into the box. He has definitely brought a lot to the team but his performance in several games are not convincing.

I don't want to derail this thread but I have to heavily disagree with all of your points. My main point is that Cavani can't be our starting striker if we want to win things because he doesn't do the basics well enough.
Wow seriously? You think Martial is better then at making runs and positioning than Cavani?

No offence but did you watch the last two games just as a snapshot of that comparison?

I'm not sure what you're failing to understand here, I've said that Martial in his current form is worse than Cavani. Should I try repeating this again so that maybe you have some chance of comprehension?

I would also like to note that I've said multiple times in this thread that Cavani has world class movement and positioning and have never suggested that Martial's is as good.

I suggest you try reading in future before hitting that reply button.

Exactly and he was brought in as Martial's back up but it's a damn shame Anto hasn't been able to pick up where he left off last season.

I noted you mentioned form and I mentioned as much. I responded to say that it's not a form issue with Martial, last season was an anomaly and contrary to what is the norm from Martial.

Never, regardless of form, has Martial had Cavani's movement and positioning. Your saying he has that in his locker aren't you?

Otherwise how are you 'disagreeing with every point I made' , as you put it.

EDIT; You even said Cavani 'doesn't do the basics well enough' ffs. I think your confusing yourself here bud.

Well we're going to have to disagree on your point about form.

I've never ever suggested Martial has movement as good as Cavani, I've in fact said multiple times on the Caf that I hope Martial can learn from him.

Because in the post I was quoting, it never mentioned anything about movement or positioning. I mean honestly, are you pissed?

Martial at his best offers more for this team than Cavani. Even this season, our best peformances came when Martial was leading the line, not Cavani.

Martial has 2 goals. Martial this season has offered nothing.

People say we play park the bus yet Cavani had 2 clear cut chances, when Martial plays we say he lacks service.

The truth actually is Martial is never in the position to get the service.

Oh my days.

You've literally said that you want Martial to play again because "Cavani isn't good enough at the basics." Yet your agreeing Martial, regardless of form, has never been as good as Cavani with movement and positioning.

I pointed this bolded part out in my first point and you followed up by saying 'I disagree with all your points'

I think it may be you that's been on booze fella.

I know a few people have mentioned that he was very inconsistent in front of goal for PSG but just got a hat-full of chances every week - do we have any PSG fans/people who watched them regularly who can attest to that because I always assumed it was hyperbole?

Andy Cole-esque bollocks innit. Gets more chances cause of incredible movement, therefore misses more, but more importantly also scores more than most other strikers.

Crikey... I think we should end this conversation here because you seem to have the reading and comprehension skills of a 9 year old and I don't plan on spending all day saying the same thing over and over.

The basics for me are touch and passing, something every player on the pitch has to be proficient in. Perhaps I should have clarified that but given that Cavani is literally world renowned for his movement and positioning I would have assumed it was obvious I wasn't talking about that side of his game.

I would also like to point out that whilst Cavani's movement is undoubtedly the best in the squad, Martial's is often underrated unfairly. His movement was very good to get into position for a tap in before Cavani wasted the chance by going for a half bicey.

To conclude, again, I hope Martial can learn from Cavani because his movement and positioning is as good as anyone in the world. I also hope that Martial regains his form so that we have a striker who's capable of consistently able to hold up the ball and link up play.

No I get it. You want Martial to learn from Cavani because his movement and positioning is world class, but he's also not good enough at the basics.

Makes perfect sense pal.

This has nothing to do with what I said.

I love the dude, he is a hard worker, mature - takes his job seriously, presses brilliantly for a 33-year old, great one-touch but a bad first, second and third touch (strange). His will power to win is refreshing.

Like many big CFs, I don't like his style but I like the delivery. He is like a Lukaku 2.0 with a better press and resume.

Its called strawman-ing, it seems very popular in this thread.
I guess that we have to acknowledge that people like to defend everything no matter what, when he/she seriously values someone very high. It’s especially true in a set up of arguing, and even more over a Internet forum environment. It’s how the society is always like, isn’t it?;)

The biggest problem I've had with Cavani is that his finishing is always off in the biggest games PSG had. His movement will always get him in good positions, he's usually always going to find a way to get at least one good chance from it, and he's so good that he gets repeatedly into good opportunities. I don't think he's as bad of a finisher as some make it out to be, but those who point out he's a volume scorer are correct. He'll get 5 chances, maybe score 1-2 goals from there. However, consistently goes missing when the stakes are high.

But I love him regardless, he's just such a high class character, he's fully devoted to the club he joins, and he's always going to give it his best, but he is not clinical consistently, and he's yet to shake off those big game choking tendencies.

Good performance today but I think Martial demonstrated the point I was trying to make in this thread quite well today.

Who else loves his celebrations. Routine header to make it 4 nil against ten men and he's roaring like tardelli

Lovely header! As everyone has mentioned.

He made the goal look so natural, almost like he's a robot working on an assembly line. Press the Cavani button and goal.

I'm not sure why it was such a ludicrous proposition for some. Cavani was brought in for his experience and his different skill set and he's done that job well but an in form Martial is our starting striker.

The power he generates from that header, all while looking effortless. No other like that in our team. Actually bar that one season when Rooney decided to score 20 headed goals from all the angles, I think we'd have to go back to Van Nistelrooy (I'm excluding Vidic and Scholes as they weren't forwards).

His one-flick pass was awesome. Didn't know he had it before.

Totally agree. some people feel Martial is lazy maybe. It is really not true. His personality could put a lot on himself. That might make some people think he doesn’t care? I have no idea why they dislike him so much tbh.

Ok, this might be the funniest thing ever posted on this website.
