Credit where its due he's worked hard to get to this point and maintain it for a decent period of time. He's indispensable to this team now and should get his place for England back come the summer.

I wish the Telles posts could be banned. As if Telles is responsible for Shaw's form rather than his own ability, hard work, and coaching.
I dont think thats very smart and I dont think anyone is suggesting Telles masterminded this so that Luke Shaw could play and he wouldnt.

Lets stick to the facts. In the summer one of the players we heard from was Luke Shaw. He came out and asked for competition for the squad. We ended up signing a new left back who is competition for his left back spot and has played some games. Shaw has responded well to the competition and is in great form

So you see if anyone masterminded this it was Luke Shaw. He asked for competition, he got it and he's playing great.

He's back to (or even surpassing) the level pre injury in 2015. What I remember from 2015 was the speed at which he carried the ball and completely dominated the left hand side on his own - he's back to that.

The fact he is now adding assists to his name and seems as though he's fitter than ever means he has no weaknesses at all: outstanding defender, positionally sound, decent in the air, superb first touch (massively underrated aspect of his game), can dribble and cross. If he keeps this up then he will be in all of the teams of the year etc.
Absolutely, I remember for a while thinking that while he was good he still hadn't reached the heights he was hitting pre-leg break. Like you said, I not only think he's hit that level but he's surpassed it. It must have been a catastrophic mental block to lose basically 2 seasons worth of football then have a manager who criticised you constantly after every game.

Totally agree on his first touch. Hes the out ball for our defence as they can trust his control, and he earns himself a bunch of space in attack by generally controlling any ball pinged at him dead.

It's been said before quite a while ago but Shaw has the best first touch in this team.
That Honour belongs to Juan Mata. But there is a way Shaw controls the ball that helps with his ball progression. He doesn't just kill it like mata does but controls it into space.

I am mot surprised. We all knew he has the potential to play at this level, his fitness and maybe immaturity was holding him back at times. People forget that he's still 25 years old, plenty of gas left in the tank but I hope he stays fit.

Luke Shaw has been playing at this level for a while now. I would say a year, only because the media have caught onto it, fans are catching up to it too.

Last season, he was still getting up there, linking with Rashford and putting the ball in the box, unfortunately no one was finishing them.

However; saying that he has improved his crossing and putting more dangerous crosses in. His technical ability has always been there.

He has surpassed his level in 2015 in my opinion.

The training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber has worked wonders.

Credit to him and Ole for this turn around
Fck Jose for trying to finish his career.

I myself somewhat thought we needed to replace him and he was done with us. But he's surely the best LB in the league now or top 3 if not

So glad he's getting assists too. Involved in three of the first four goals

It goes without saying he's by far the best English LB at the moment and it's not even that close, not because Chillwell and co. are poor by any means but just simply because Shaw's been on a different level.

Ole (after Southampton):
Luke has played really well. Of course, we have Alex Telles, who can cover for him and also play well, but Luke [is impressing] with the way he plays at the moment, with the intensity, sprinting and high-speed running.

With the spaces that appeared for him, we felt the way he played in the first half, if he played the same way in the second half, you are always running the risk [of an injury]. There were a few players we wanted to get on.

Excellent again, and a joy to watch.

Always brings be back to what a fool Jose was to treat him the way he did. With proper confidence and man management, he has been the best LB in the league this season.

Here's the thing. Mourinho was right. He just shouldn't have said it in public.

Anyhow, it appears that the surgeon who performed the brain transplant took that advice as we now have the fantastic body but also Jose's footballing brain while Mourinho seems to now possess Luke Shaw's dozy one.
Here's the thing, nobody cares. If Shaw plays well he plays well, doesnt matter if the manager is asking him to do something or not. The manager is there to manage the team not one player

This.

People saying Jose was right or wrong makes no difference because the guy has one of the worst man management I've ever seen.

Ole has been able to put an arm around a player, address his strengths and weaknesses whilst rotating him with a player who arguably has the opposite way of playing (telles better attacker than defender vs Shaw a better defender vs attacker). Its not some random thing, you arguably have forwards like Greenwood, Rashford and Martial competing with a striker like Cavani for example. Man management of Ole is great.

The way I see it is that Shaw has been good (if not very good) for a while, in fact, I've long maintained that he's been underrated and has been better than first Danny Rose and then Chilwell. However, there's no doubt in my mind this is the best form of his career. He looks like a player that has suddenly put it all together, physical qualities, pace, dribbling, control and end ball. Currently, the whole game is running through him which you can't say about many fullbacks. Absolutely world-class and my only hope he is now can stay fit and continue to play this way because make no mistake he's a massive weapon in our arsenal.

In my opinion he has been the best left-back in the P.L so far this season - he has been better than Robertson

I agree form wise he is in his best form. However; ability wise, he has always been composed on the ball, always been good defensively.

He has been given the confidence of the manager, which means he can play his game.

The only concern most of us Luke Shaw fans had was his fitness, this season he has had one injury so far, he has been rotated and protected by the manager as well.

There was alot of fans on here in July/ August saying LB is where we need to upgrade.

Yeh agreed, I never understand the calls to upgrade him. There have always been far bigger holes in the team.

That's a lot of bullshit.

His performance has been on an upward trend since 2018 and he's generally kept playing well till he gets injured and needs a run of games before he starts playing well again before getting injured again and restarting the cycle.

This is perhaps the longest run where he's fit and available for selection ever since we signed him and he's finally able to showcase his crossing ability because we actually have people in the box now with Cavani making runs instead of Martial/Rashford waiting and asking for the ball to be played to their feet out on the left flank.
I'll try and go look up his video vs Brighton or who ever it was a season or 2 a go. I've never seen anything like it by United player. I am glad he he go his sh!t together for what ever reason, and it's quite telling it came with increased competition. Good for him and good for United. I hope it continues, but you have rose colored glasses if you think his effort has been up to United standard over his career here.

Surely this is just Ultra Instinct, you can see the heat waves emanating off of him.

Yesterday for that 45mins he was playing at a different level to everyone else. The ease at what he was beating people and running away from them along with the passes and crosses he was picking. That cross to Bissaka was a Bute and the finish by Bissaka made it look even better.

You know how important he has become to the team when he's taken off at half time.

We miss a lot of his creativity when he's out and will need him fresh for the packed fixture list in the upcoming days/weeks.

I wish Ole would manage his team by hooking them early, there’s just so much chopping and changing of the starting 11, it’s frequently counter productive.

Imagine how good he'd be if Mourinho was on the touchline telling him what to do?

He hasn't been able to take them off early as pretty much every game in Jan was very close. I think the frequent chopping and changing has resulted in us have fewer injuries than normal.

I think we all knew Shaw was a terrific LB, but we had concerns his fitness — both in terms of injury and general fitness. But he’s gone beyond being terrific this season in all aspects play.

Last seasons his crosses generally hit the first man. There is a distinct improvement not only in the quality now, but also in his willingness to cross from deeper whereas he had a tendency to only attempt a cross from the byline-playing it safe essentially.

I just think its fantastic after so many years as a young player that he got written off - now he is entering his prime and looks a completely different player. Has the experience of his own game and others.

We right off youngsters too early, whilst people will say something like "shaw always had the ability" - players who struggle only really need that one season to change the way they play and become better.

Having a defensive fullback that gets taught how to attack seems like a bit of an intellectual move compared to buying an attacking fullback and teaching them how to defend.

I’ve always liked Shaw, every time he’s had a consistent run, without the stops and starts due to injuries, he has performed well for us. Tip of the hat to him for grinding through some tough valleys in his career. He is playing magnificently.

Didn't we recently change our strength and conditioning coaches? Maybe they deserve some recognition also if this is the case, as Shaw looks to be in good condition atm.
