Worst United captain and worst buy of all time. Someone make a thread to that effect please.

How do people think hes any sort of a leader? He is so damn slow.

I have been saying this for ages how slow he is to react or get to anything. today just made it so obvious but it happens every game.

I was just starting to warm up to him again and has been supportive of him for the last several matches. Well, goddamn.

Not necessarily directly at fault, but the limitations really show with this guy. Glacial speed for the second goal, and he’s a yard behind everyone else on the set piece.

A decent, but fundamentally not great CB?

I really, really don't like this guy
I've come from really not liking this guy to almost hating him. I can't stand the look of the ugly fecker. Mediocre trash.

Worst United captain and worst buy of all time. Someone make a thread to that effect please.

I made a thread suggesting we cut our losses on him & was swarmed for it by the top reds.
I literally made a thread with the above notes and it was locked... lots of his supporters around here. I bet you any money if he wasn't English he wouldn't have many supporters. The guy is an absolute waste of everything. We will win nothing with him. No ambition at this club.

Maguire and Lindelof weren't great tonight, but De Gea has to do better. For me, De Gea is at fault for the 1st and 3rd (Maguire takes blame for the 3rd too). Midfield takes the blame for the 2nd...

80 million, fecking 80 million on this guy. VVD and Dias were both cheaper and actually improved the sides they went to. This guy is awful and we will never see a fraction of that 80 million again.

I think that's a very fair assessment and I think many would have a hard time arguing against that.

He's decent, but is ultimately upgradeable.

Under a tree.
People moaning about him not being quicker than DCL and for going to the floor when being foul and kicked in the calf. Brilliant

He looks terrified before every match. When ever someone screws up at the back he says feck all and just looks confused. How are we expecting this guy who’s won feck all and achieved nothing in his career to lead Man United fo
Glory?

Unfairly being blamed imo. Didn’t have a bad game at all.
But did he have a good game? He’s part of a defence, the supposed leader of it, and we’ve conceded another three goals. Have you ever watched him do a piece of defending that’s won us a game of football? Everton’s whole game plan was designed to run in behind him and Lindelof, and it worked.

Not just slow paced, slow making decisions as well. I have also never seen a PL footballer having to concentrate so hard when a ball is rolling towards him, and then more often than not he nearly falls over it.

He has quality in certain areas but he’s an Everton, Villa, Wolves level defender. Leicester even! Played a great line for their winner. feck me.

Edit: not ‘winner’ but felt like a loss. fecking tits.

The transfer fee was one thing, but the captaincy is another. He’s really going to be tough to budge any time soon.

A really, really smart thing for Ole to do would be to shift the captaincy onto Bruno in the near future, and gradually lessen Maguire’s status to gradually allow the replacement (or at least possibility of it). But I don’t think he’s Machiavellian enough to do that.

He started ahead of him, there is no way he should of not been 1st to that ball.

I don't hate the guy like a lot of you, think he's generally an alright player but he really does have an error or 6 in him on a bad day. What on earth was that performance.

Be ruthless just get rid. He’s not good enough. He’s also get more stick of me because he’s the most expensive one. Expect better.

That's what I've been saying since day one! We were desperate looking for a CB and overpaid for an overhyped english player (as usual, just like we were gonna do with Sancho)

His level is those smaller teams. We have no ambition using him and only are because of his price tag. Ole won't admit it but if he had infinite money Maguire would be gone sooner than we can blink.

30 goals conceded so far this season under the leadership of our 80m defender who hadn't missed a game.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Its moments like today that show he maybe isnt good enough.

Tbh I dont think any of the three senior CB's are good enough over the course of a season.

This is a great example of misdirected anger. He didn't do much wrong for any of the goals - first one he forced DCL wide, and DDG patted a scuffed cross onto Doucoure's toe, second was nobody marking James, and the third he was the only one who actually chased DCL back - Tuanzebe who was actually marking him just left him to run.

Did he have a good game? I don’t know to be honest, I don’t think he had a bad game, much the same as many of our players but he wasn’t at fault for us dropping points in my view.

I’m probably fighting a losing battle based on the overwhelming majorities view in this thread, I think it’s so easy to come on here and criticise him as being the problem because of the amount we paid for him and being captain, the problems lay elsewhere from where I’m at watching.

I like Maguire but he should never of been made captain, I don’t think he’s a leader at all. I think him being captain is probably a hindrance to him, and I don’t think he’s got a winners mentality to drag us through games.

Worse CBs than him have won the league.

I don't think many hate him, even those who criticize him. "Hate" is a pretty strong word to use for your team's player. I'm just annoyed that he can have several very good matches then when he's off form, he's really off form. he drops stinkers when it happens and unfortunately, seems to cost us every time.

The problem is the defence and he’s the captain of it. He should be the one leading it, he isn’t even coming close.
