Raiola: "I can say that it's over for Pogba at United"

Think we could do worse than just bumping Pogba's wages a bit and inserting a release clause in his contract.

Pogba gets higher pay next year when no club can probably afford his transfer fee + wages. United get the security of a guaranteed transfer fee.

The only question is if he'd gamble that things will be fine in 2022 and he can get one of those Ramsey / Sanchez levels contracts by moving on a free.

Grealish is completly different. They are not the same player / position / style at all.
They are but was more in response to the reports that we need to sell Pogba to fund a big buy. And I believe Grealish would easily contribute more for us than Pogba does. Pogba is supremely talented but we're yet to find his best position still.

Increasing his price in a pandemic? You've answered your own question by saying no club can afford his fee but you think inserting a release clause will ensure a high fee?

Don't underestimate the long term effect on cash flow at clubs and business because of Corona .

The recent hyper inflation of transfer fees is over. Last year was the time to sell for a 3 figure sum.

What did he say that has gotten people's knicks in a twist? was he asked a question again?

I don't pay attention to Raiola. I care about how Paul plays

"Speculation about Paul is always going to be there," the Norwegian said. "We've got a good open dialogue with Paul, so what we talk about and how we see that situation remains between us of course. "I'm just happy he's focused, he's playing really well and he's happy in himself and that's important. You can see Paul now enjoying playing football with a red shirt on."

"Pogba must also be left alone. I will do what I have to do not in front of you, but in the shadows, as I have always done."

That tweet only tells half the story, I've just the full quote on Instagram and he goes in to say someone always speaks but Solskjaer has handle the whole situation perfectly.

So who is the person who struggles to sleep and always speaks if it's not Ole?

I might be stupid but I don't know who he's referring to.

Despite his fat feck of an agent not being able to keep his mouth shut, Pogba has remained professional and has let his football do the talking. That is all I'm concerned with.

You don't think Pogba controls what his agent says?
we had the agent mouthing off a few weeks back. Then his brother a couple of weeks back. Poggers doesn’t get a regular gig. Suddenly injured again for a couple of months. Agent sounds of again. The player has shown some glimpses of form that have been entirely lacking since he came back to the club. Shop window. You can bet your arse he’ll be fighting fit for the Euros.

feck him off - asap.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

Of course he doesn't control every comment. He and Raiola will figure out what the end result should be (new contract here, transfer, wait 12 months for a free) and then Raiola will do what he does to make it happen. He won't go running off to Pogba every time to check the exact things he's allowed to say. There's been a couple of times now where he's made a comment and then within 24 hours he's kind of walked it back, and I reckon that's because Pogba let him know he went overboard. These most recent comments sound to me like Pogba wants to go but has told Raiola to do it a bit more in the background instead of making such a big deal about it like he has in the past. Despite that Raiola can't help but open his mouth and say something.

I think Utd should do this as well. Rather than a release clause at a fixed fee, better to say we will listen to any offer that come in from PSG/Madrid/Juventus and let you go as long as the transfer fee we require is met.

You are being naïve. The agent is a spokesperson of the player. He doesn't go out and constantly chat shit without the player's consent.

We seem to do a lot of thinking for Pogba when it comes to his agent, the guy is a football player and has been playing for the club without sulking or downing tools, yet we make so many assumptions about things we no nothing about.

Football players join and leave clubs, did we not steal him from Le Havre in controversial circumstances?

We talk about the guy like we know his inner dealings. If it's not bashing him for dancing on insta it's about hairstyle or some bs.

Leave the guy alone.

To be honest, I don't really care. It hasn't, in any way, affected Pogba's football. Actually, Pogba has arguably put in his most consistent run for us since his agent opened his mouth. As I said, as long as he does his talking on the pitch, then I couldn't care less.

At the end of the season, if Pogba wants to leave, then so be it.

I think Riola gets paid in burgers/pies/lard and is probably worrying about COVID and Brexit leading to food shortages hence mouthing off again. He’s just trying to secure a future supply line through Pogba.

No one is denying Pogba's football has improved. But not been professional because he's failed to put a muzzle on his agent constantly. If he actually cared about the club stability at key moments he'd have put out a statement of his own, rather than allow his agent to de-stabalise the club in vital moments such as the eve of a crunch European fixture.

Having read it I think people have Raiola derangement syndrome. Literally nothing to talk about. He said he will "no longer speak" about this kind of stuff and people are crying.

How I feel. Its irrelevent. Like when Hazard kept flirting with Madrid and being non committal. He was still their best player

Raiola was asked by Tuttomercatoweb about the future of Pogba again, amid expectations that he could return to Italy - but the often-outspoken agent was reserved in his comments, claiming he usually preferred to carry out his duties behind the scenes due to the impact he feels he could have on fluctuating valuations of players.

“I respect a discourse on discretion that applies to everyone, without exception. I have always worked in the shadows, with discretion on this sort of thing, because certain speculations risk destabilising the state of things,” he said.

When I speak and say my opinion on certain things, the shares of the stock market splash up and down, going mad.

Pogba must also be left alone. When I speak people get nervous, he doesn’t sleep at night, so I don’t speak anymore.

“I will do what I have to do not in front of you, but in the shadows, as I always have.”

Raiola offered similar responses when asked about Milan-based clients Gianluigi Donnarumma, goalkeeper with AC Milan, and Inter centre-back Stefan de Vrij, saying they must be “left in peace” and that “everything else is done without cameras, without journalists, in the offices.”

It's nothing like Hazard because Hazard's spokesperson wasn't chatting shit half as much as Raiola does. He also wasn't disrespecting the club.

Pogba's football is fine, there's no problem with that. He obviously is committed on training so no issues there either. But Pogba had an obligation to put a muzzle on his agent and chose not to.

Too late. I don't care what he does anymore. The Leipzig game was the line, after that I'm just waiting for him to leave. Playing well from now until then is ideal that's all.

I would rather be rid of Pogba. He's played well recently, but he hasn't lived up to his transfer fee in his time here, all things considered. A couple decent months here and there doesn't make up for what has been years of disappointment.

If we give him a big, fat contract, we'll certainly regret it. He has the makings of a Sanchez for me.

Lets be honest, Pogba has NOT earned a new improved contract. Besides, he is 29 by the time his current contract expires. Do we really need another Rooney/Alexis/DDG on our hands?

Sell and get what money we can for him this summer and rid us of him and his attack dog. It just hasn't been worth it.

I meant some release clause ~50m, not 150m to incentivize Pogba to sign the thing. No way he's signing if we put in a 100m+ release clause in there and will probably go on a free in 2022 if we do that.

Buying club would have to pay 50m + ~15-20m per year = ~150m in total over 5 years. Justifying that this year seems a lot harder than hopefully next year.

To be fair, didn't we end up finding out that his quotes there were made a week before that match but the newspaper (or whatever it was) held of publishing them until the day before? I could be wrong but I'm sure I read that somewhere.

I'm just not sure many clubs in the aftermath of a global pandemic will see the sense in giving us 50 million for him august and paying him say 300k per week on a five year deal (125m) when they could sign him about 100 days later for say 15 million signing on fee and 350k a week on a 4 year deal (85 million)... so a 40 million saving for waiting 1 season

Pogba picks up 300k a week from us for a year then gets the signing on fee plus increased wages (an extra 25 million)

It might be in our interest to sell him this summer but pogba his agent and any buying club will probably see it in their interest to wait and sign a pre contract next winter.

If we keep Pogba we have 2/3 of an excellent midfield. If we don’t we have McFred and Bruno.
