We should go for Alaba, I wouldn’t be against trying him in DM position tbh.

He wouldn’t be worse than what we have there and has the versatility to drop into LB and CB for cover.

He’s too good to not nail down a position in our team figuratively speaking.

Gave up on this one the second the Bayern link looked real. I'm also not sure he's the instant upgrade and success we need right now. He's a work in progress massively.

He's not worth the money he wants. No ones going to pay his obscene wages in this climate. If he brings his greed down a bit, it'll be interesting, think the war over his signature would increase a lot.

I like Alaba, but his demands are mental for a player of his talent.

@RUCK4444 He is average as DM , decent to good as CB not sure how he would fare as Lb on regular basis either any way we have Shaw there in form of his life it would be such a waste of money to go after him thankfully it seems we are staying away

It makes sense, there surely must be doubts whether he could do it on a cold night at Stoke, especially in terms of lateral movement.
Attacks in England are very pace oriented, 90 percent of games have the top sides facing rapid counters and quick transitions.
Thiago works in Germany, not in England. This could be the exact same scenario.

I think the general feel is that Upamecano is a bit better on the ball while Konate is a bit better defensively. With Bayern being as dominant as they are in the vast majority of games the extra ball-playing is probably a better attribute. Plus of course there is the issue with Konate's injuries over the last 18 months or so.
Sounds a bit like a replacement for Boateng. Able to control a match at their disposal but maybe struggles a bit when the attack is on them once in a while.

Yeah I think those wage demands will drop when the penny drops that nobody is willing to pay them.

I just like the thought of his experience and versatility in the squad. His top level is excellent as well.

I'm sure it is, we don't face counters and transitions so much in Bundesliga, and the pace is so much slower.

I know he’s been questioned at DM but can we say he’s definitely worse than what we have? I’m not sure we can.

I think he’s an upgrade on the majority of what we have at CB as well apart from Maguire.

It’s the versatility that interests me the most and the fact his top level when in form is very good.

Bayern faces counter attacking teams in 100% of the games they play so not too sure about the point you’re making.

Bayern experience counter attack every game, especially with the way they play it is obvious. Not to mention that there are many pressing teams.

To say after a few games Thiago works in Germany but not in England is also a bit too early to call or ? Pogba barely had more than 10 games in the PL where he looked like a good player in how many years of playing there ?

Also you have to see things in some context. Liverpool as a whole team isn't an olied machine right now, lots of unblanace in their game for many reasons. I don't think it is fair to make the conclusion after some games.

No worries mate. I agreed with the rest of your post though and it illustrates how well you're run as a club and even our ex legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson speaks highly of your clubs day to day running.
Thanks for understanding, I deserved to be called out for crossing the line there. As for Ferguson, he ought to know what he's talking about. I've always been envious of a club having the luxury to actually keep a good manager for more than a couple years. And I still don't understand how Manchester United fell apart without him. I mean, I understand it but.. it's hard to wrap your head around just how important one person can be. Looking good this year, though! Good luck to you, don't let Pep win it... :)

All this, and even more, made them the galactico-esque team they are today. Bundesliga has not become worse, they have just gotten so much better. You have to be on Real/Barca level to compete with this Bayern consistently. And obviously there is no team in Germany close to that.
I'd like to add that Bayern's one true weakness in the 90s/00s that most people forgot is their inconsistency against lesser teams. Oh, they would shine in big games, but play against Bielefeld in some little 10-20k people stadium? Bayern would drop points left and right there. They stopped that mostly because Dortmund forced them to fight for every single point. And somehow they never relented after that. The "dominance" we see today is really not Bayern playing much better against top teams (they still struggle here and there, Leipzig giving them a hard time almost every game), but they don't lose to smaller teams anymore. Ruthless.

I know he’s been questioned at DM but can we say he’s definitely worse than what we have? I’m not sure we can.
Put it this way, Alaba has seen a handful of coaches in his time at Bayern. He never got started as DM for more than a couple games and his national team caps are not the seal of excellence that he would like them to be. Kimmich on the other hand got moved from RB (where he was a very passable replacement for Lahm) to DM almost immediately and it's hard to imagine him not being there for the rest of his career. You make of that what you will with regards to Alaba. :)

Sitting back and hanging on isnt really the same thing
Its not at the same level as the directness is in England anyway.
Its ok to be Bayern and concede when 3 goals up, hell Bayern at their best wont even give opposition the ball.
Play in England and hes facing top class speed merchants every other game.
English football isnt made for everybody.
Join Bayern and hes facing top clubs a few times in Europe. He joins a Chelsea and hes facing quality every other week.
Defenders are a lot more vunerable in England imo.

Diego was also one a while back. That one worked out quite well for us, though.
Arturo Vidal as well when he went to Juventus.

Actually if there is one team that constantly gives the middle finger to Bayern, it's Leverkusen and Rudi Voller. You know he would've never wanted to sell Havertz to Bayern as well

Matt Law is very Chelsea mouthpiece. I wouldn’t take him at face value on everything he says.
Surely we should trust him then? Chelsea arent even strongly linked with him so its not even a face saving exercise, it would be a strange story to spin imo

It's a typical story of a club not being able to sign a player and then throw reports that they didn't rate him that's why they didn't sign him.

I wouldn't rate Chelsea's scouts too much if they were the ones who decided to sign Havertz and Werner with players like Pulisic, Ziyech and CHO in the team already :D

There were plenty of players moving between top clubs.
Maguire, Kanye and Chilwell from Leicester. Arsenal lost many of their star players over the years.
Touré, Nasri, Clichy, Sagna, Adebayor joined Man City alone.
Ashley Cole joined Chelsea. Sanchez and van Persie joined Man United.
Exactly. Right there you illustrate the problem I’m having with the Bundesliga. All those players have gone to Chelsea, City, United and Arsenal - not one single club (these years you can add Liverpool and Spurs to the table of transfer-competition in England). It’s not “don’t go to a league rival” - it’s “it would be nice if all of you didn’t go to the same one.”

And of course Upamecano couldn’t have gone to hundreds with the same or higher level and ambition, I know. It was my way of saying he’s that good and sought after.

Interesting. Perhaps he is limited in that position. I just can’t help but think he would still be better than what United have at DM currently.

That is a possibility, but probably says more about whoever Manchester United currently has in DM than Alaba. History has shown us that Alaba has not been able to break into that position throughout his career except in the Austrian NT, where competition is a lot less than at Bayern and the expectations are also less. If you need a filler until the right guy comes along, Alaba is not the worst choice, because you can shift him back into defense when you need to. And he's professional enough to give you his best wherever you choose to play him. Certainly he's a good player and should find a spot in any team on the planet.

If only there wasn't the ridiculous salary demands...

If he wouldn't demand silly money, Bayern would have extended his contract already.

Does it really matter, if you make a few millions Euro more when earning already over 15 millions Euro per year for ages?

At the age of 29 he would be key player in one of the top 3 teams in the world. He could win another CL and would become Bayern legend same as Müller.
Real Madrid is in transition and it might well take a few years until they challenge again considering their financial situation and the ongoing pandemic.
If playing in the EPL, he might need 1 or 2 seasons to accommodate. Werner and Havertz should be warning.

Oh, salary matters. He's not going to starve or lack a luxurious lifestyle, but if everyone around you is a multimillionaire, salary becomes a sign of appreciation. I can understand why players want to get the amount they think they are worth because of appreciation rather than actual need. But in this instance, it's been abundantly clear that Alaba and especially his greedy agent overestimated what the world thinks of him. And while it pains me to see him go, I was a lot more butthurt about letting Kroos go than Alaba. And I liked Alaba the most out of our squads. He's a genuinely good person, I think. If he switched the agent, all would be resolved within a week. Alas...

To announce this mid season when Leipzig are second and challenging Bayern is a disgrace, they are one if the most awful clubs around and hold a monopoly on the entire league. Only hope one day the club burns and the league becomes competitive again but judging by how every other club bends over for them that wont be happening anytime soon

It's so odd, itz not even like he signed for Bayern and then was loaned back.
Or that he's joining now
Would not happen but if there was a CL place on the line on the last day between the two clubs surely he would prefer Bayern to get it rather than the club he's playing for but leaving?

Have to agree, absolute joke for the timing of the announcement. Could easily affect his form. League turning into a bit of a joke with the rest of clubs just feeder clubs who can't come close to Bayern.
