Think Shaw has some way to go yet. Evra was much quicker than Shaw, a better dribbler, arguably even better at bringing the ball out from defense, better one on one defensiveley (Shaw lets too many crosses into the box), and Evra was better in the air, as well as a stronger leader.

Continue like this, and he may get there. Evra was arguably the best lb in the world at one point.
Evra joined United when he was 25, and had a pretty horrific 6 months. Shaw is currently 25...

You are comparing the second half of Evra’s career with the first half of Shaw’s.

loved Evra, and Shaw has a chance to get to those levels - I still think it will be fitness that holds him back. But Telles is helping massively in that regard.

Looking over my shoulder.

Not disagreeing. But saying that Shaw is currently better or as good as peak Evra is a bit of a stretch.

i agree with you there. He’s in great form, but needs to keep it up for a sustained period, which has always been a challenge for him (mainly due to fitness).

Somewhere out there
Evra had better leadership (though it's something he grew into over the years, and I feel the same is happening now with Shaw, who leads by example and the team knows they can trust him to receive any ball they pass him and retain possession and build attacks). Evra also had more flair on the ball, but I feel Luke is a far more effective ball carrier with his power, pace, and uncanny ability to use his first touch to propel a surging run forward into space.
Nar, Evra was an absolute lethal weapon for us in the final 3rd when we needed a goal, so good at finding space and opening it up, we've missed that so much since the very day he left.

Shaw looks superb right now but has a long long way to go to get to those levels, let's hope he can, he's great to watch right now, after that leg break I've never been as happy for a player to come back this strong.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

There's not really any 'arguably' about it. He was the best in the world for three seasons or so.

Not sure if he was better in the air than Shaw though. Evra had a great leap and was surprisingly good in the air, but that's always been a real strength of Shaw's as well.

It's funny how in a matter of weeks we've gone from severely lacking creativity from the wings, to AWB and Shaw providing goals, assists and general attacking intent that we haven't seen for so long.

Shaw has been superb since even last season for me, but in the last few months he has gone up another level and it's great to see.

Never understood the criticism he got. When he's fit he has always shown what he's showing now. Sound in defense and great in possession. He used to overlap even more in his salad days though.

I think if he can keep up the level of form shown this season he’s probably as good of but better than peak Evra. Evra was an outstanding outlet but never did have world class delivery. Shaws crosses and set pieces have been exceptional this season. He’s also a better defender than Evra I think. The key for Shaw will be staying fit but he’s got the tools to be a world class player for many years.

Evra was let go too early. Also we completely misdiagnosed a stomach condition he had during his last season, which juventus nailed and meant he didnt really drop off in performances for a few more seasons.

Still better than Shaw, but Shaw has time. A interesting question would be Irwin or Evra? Thats a tough call for another thread.

Yet we have a manager and staff and cannot coach players according to many here..

Still has a long way to go to match Evra's ridiculous consistency for us but very happy with his performances so far.

Not for me. There's some weird selective memories people have with Evra (and I suppose a lot of club legends). He was actually extremely defensively suspect in his last 2-3 years with us. Going forward he was amazing, don't get me wrong, but he was frequently caught wildly out of position during Fergie's last two seasons and was at fault for a lot of goals. There were a lot of calls to replace him (or at least phase him out) as early as 2012. He did well at Juventus because he was a wing-back there, and had less defensive responsibility.

Back on topic. Shaw has found a great balance to his game; solid in defence but a lot more productive going forward. Long may it continue.

Shaw will most likely get the nod for England now I’d say, come the Euros this summer.

With Chilwell not being in great form and Justin injured, I can’t see anyone else that can stake a claim.

I think he’s starting to show some of that potential that you signed him for.

What he is doing is impressive to me, because Rashford always leaves him 2 vs 1 nowadays with the attackers. Atleast when Mason plays on the right, he tracks back and helps Bissaka.

Long may his good form continue.

One of the very best footballers in the league. I can’t speak highly enough of this man, he’s a marvel. Technically flawless, physically flawless, excellent decisions. He’s the most natural player in our current XI that belongs in one of the world’s best teams.

Maguire hit the post in the 95th minute from a Shaw Cross
Oh... I was watching whilst having my head in my hands at that point so I didn't even realise that it was Shaw who played the cross!

Anyway, great stuff as usual from Luke. I'm loving that he's finally getting the plaudits he deserves.

Has been superb for a fair while now.

At least that's one position we don't have to worry about for a bit.

He did what he could, got zero assistance from Martial, still got an assist and is so hard to disposess no matter how tight the space.

We need two POTY award this season. It's unfair to the other if only Shaw OR Bruno gets it.

Shaw's been better than Bruno I'd say. Bruno has great stats but his performances have often been utter tripe.

Lately, yes.
I think it's been a bit of a theme this season in general really. So, so wasteful but also insanely productive, weird player. Either way, if Shaw keeps doing what he's doing then there's no way he doesn't win our POTS.

Problem is, Shaw can't play every match. Also Bruno has to play every match because none on the bench is as good as him.

Who knows, man.
