Developer said they've been working on the game for 4 years! Xbox consoles exclusive, may be available for PC in the future.

First time I hear of it but it looks amazing! Look the art style. Just had a look and the dev said it will launch on PC at the same time.

I really liked the look of this one, really beautiful art style. Shame it's an Xbox exclusive though can't see myself shelling out for one anytime soon.

Great game. One of my favourites of last year.

It needs a new game plus though. You can miss some collectibles on your way through and you can't go back for them.

when is the point of no return?
I think there are multiple missing ones in Ginso Tree, Farlorn Ruins, and the Misty Woods. I wouldn't worry about them though. They're only important if you want to 100 percent it. Plus you could always go for that stuff in another play through.

Was my GOTY last year.
The new game+ would be nice though
on 99% of the map uncovered in the ginso tree because i missed some random corner of a room and can't get back to it.

Really polished, solid and well put together though. Always felt like it was my own fault when i died and never felt unfair or cheap.

My 2015 GOTY as well. Top 20 of all time. Stunning game.

Its a good metroidvania.
Definitely worth it if your into the genre.
I'd give it a go.

What a fantastic game, just completed it

803 deaths :nervous:

But fairly annoyed at my xbone....7 or 8 achievements have failed to unlock for no apparent reason. It's says completed and unlocking but no score

Try signing out of your account and back in again. That sometimes pops them.

Been playing through this the last few days. What a game. Really tough at points. That tree escape, jeez.

Feels like a real accomplishment to have finished it. Used loads of walkthrough vids in the second half of it though. More to make sure I was going the right way and not pissing about too much than working out how to traverse it exactly, which is part of the fun. No idea how anyone could find their way around Mount Horu without help, or at least without getting majorly fed up. Never put it on easy for the checkpoints on the escapes though, even though I was very tempted to at one point.

Is Will of the Wisps harder/easier/the same? I started it a while back before realising this came first so will restart soon.

Although it's fantastic in many aspects, its the music that stood out the most to me,especially during that water tree escape. The second is supposed to be tougher, i have just started it. I don't like the changes they made, especially with the combat but i love everything else.

I found it really frustrating before I got used to the platforming. Turned out I was doing something wrong... or something. Got the hang of it eventually.

Admittedly not my absolute favouritest metrodvania but it's a very good game and apparently the sequel is even better...

Mount Horu was confusing but I don't think I used a guide? Though I definitely did at one bit where you have to propel yourself using gravity (in the ice zone).

Yeah the music is incredible. It really mounts the pressure on, when in reality you don’t even need to rush that much to escape the tree as the water slows down when you do.

Once I figured that out I found it much easier. Still took a few goes like. They introduced a whole new mechanic then bam, use it for one of the hardest parts of the game. Could probably ace it now I’m used to it.

Also, somehow managed to finish with only 5 life sprouts. The videos I watched had loads. Feck knows how I missed em all.

I loved it, haven't picked up the 2nd yet. I found it was difficult enough to be really satisfying when you got it right. Most set pieces took a few goes to get right but i wasn't stuck on any part for an excessive amount of time. Except the last boss maybe which was getting a bit boring by the time i beat it.
Music was best part, possibly best use of music in a game from any period at any time, or it at least makes some top 5 list.

By the way, there's some disgusting acheivements. Complete the game on one life difficulty, complete the game in 3 hours, complete the game without dying :houllier:

Bit disappointed you can't go back in to your finished game and finish exploring. It just takes you back to your last save. Guess I'll bin Black Roots Burrows off.

I love this game. The second is even better and absolutely stunning in 4K at 120fps.

How did you find the difficulty in comparison to this one? Not sure I could handle more frustration
I didn't really find Will of the Wisps frustrating at all...a couple of difficulty spikes but I would say it was easier than the first. Of course, it might just be because I was more experienced with it but...

That’s good. Just started it again. Hate that bash has changed to LB. Also much preferred saving where you want. Now I don’t know if I’ve done x if I die and keep having to talk to the same moki before a tough bit.

Looks and plays stunning though, and I love all the characters

WOTW is definitely easier. I played it straight after the first and found it .. not easy.. but definitely less frustrating.

The chase sequences are definitely way easier, at the least.

Yeah deffo. Just had the first chase. Maybe it’s just because I’m more used to the mechanics now but I nearly did it first try

Dug this out from my Steam library and am deep into it now. I played it for a few hours several years ago but I remember getting stuck a few hours in and couldn't find the special ability to progress, and gave up. A few hours in now and I'm progressing much quicker. Hollow Knight was good prep. This time I've worked out how to use the map and I understand how you're supposed to explore metroidvania style.

Just finished Will of the Wisps. Wow, what a game.

Do agree that it’s slightly easier than Blind Forest, but a few tough bits.

I wish you could carry on playing these after you finish the story (swear I just picked up some god damn Gorlek ore in the last stages) although I realise with the ending here it wouldn’t exactly work. Not exactly sure how another game would work now either, which is a shame. A spin off with more world/base building would be cool

Something weird I noticed is 19% of people defeated Shreik, but only 14% completed the game. Wtf happened in between?

I've just started playing Will of the Wisps and I think I like it a bit more than the first game so far. Combat feels a little more defined, which is good. It feels a bit more like Hollow Knight, especially since they've added a similar charms system, but more platforming oriented like the first game.

For those that have finished both:

Any chance there's ever another one? Seems a waste not to, but we'd need a different main character. A spin off maybe?
