Telles has given him a push to improve his crossing. Finally. The guy needs to be challenged, otherwise he does the minimum to stay in the side

You notice that a lot with fullbacks. Probably because they so often need to control long crossfield passes with defenders very close to them. Valencia had an incredible first touch too.
Yeah, Valencia has awesome first touch and he was superb ball carrier too.

On Shaw, what a player he has become. Not almost every set piece is good and every cross is like a chance created. Good chance he will end up with 10+ assists in league alone.

Not with our forwards scoring blanks. Only person in the team that can be trusted to score is Bruno.

Anyone seen his interview on Sky sports, Ask Shaw. He reckons he’s tied with Rashford for 2nd fastest in the squad and that the interviewer should ask the manager who the best finisher at the club is because Ole has seemingly told Shaw that its him.

The work that ole has done with this guy’s confidence and conditioning is unbelievable. Under ole he’s developing into a world class fullback, under Mourinho he was looking like he might get booted out

Ole is a very good man manager most of the time. He had the best teacher in this.

I'll agree to a degree with giving Ole credit, but you also have to give the lad some as well.

While you are right about Jose, lets be fair here, this all started back, when LVG, then Woy Hodgson, the Blazer all but called the lad a fat bastard in public and with how sensitive some young men are these days, and with the leg break, it had to have a major impact on him mentally.

So fair play to the lad for not bottling it and just getting on with it, and as we have seen the past few months as you have said, he has start "developing into a world class fullback".

Oh yeah I don’t want to belittle the amount of effort that Shaw has put in, through horrific injuries, Lvg calling him a fatty, Mourinho calling him a brainless defender and so on. Credit to the lad for getting his head down and proving what he’s all about

Wasn't he player of the season when Jose got sacked?

He started well in the first game against Leicester and was generally our best player.

Also, Shaw gave a lot of credit to Jose for that.

Shaw: “Ole’s the manager who has learnt me the most”.

Get him in the English lessons with Amad and Harry Kane :D

I just remember Jose saying that he was a bit brain dead tactically and he had to tell him where to go all the time

The player who makes the best use of his speed is Dan James (willing runner) followed by Fred then Rashford(Rashford though is limited by opponent low block tactics) but he is a killer in Europe where teams don’t pay him enough respect yet.

Shaw being a better finisher than Greenwood , Bruno, martial etc is having a laugh tbh.... Ole if he said that could be an attempt to build his confidence.

Amazing player.

Gareth needs to get over his vendetta against him.

I may be misrembering, but wasn't there a game Shaw got MOTM and Jose said he should get it because he was coaching him through the entire game?

Here is the interview

I know a lot of people have bagged on him for many many many years now but to me he’s been doing a lot of these things in games for season after season now. I think what we see now and regularity of it is confidence in his abilities and starting to put his game together more. Who knows if that’s Ole or or maybe Shaw just had some stuff come off and has generally built his own confidence up. Maybe it’s both.

I would say mind the difference between what Ole allows him to do and what jose allows him to do is night and day. Jose berated him and dropped him from the team as he pushed forward to give an option, we lost possesion and a goal came from that side.

Ole seems a lot more willing to let players take these risks and trust them.

I think there’s also a confidence in his physical state he has atm that he’s not had since the injury.

He’s always had a brilliant combination of strength and speed and it’s nice to see him feeling comfortable using it again.

Our best and most consistent performer this season, even if Bruno has been the far more important performer.

I think in another interview I’ve seen he even said as such or Ole said it about him. With Telles he knows there is cover for him so he doesn’t need to play within himself or his limits to save energy for the season or prevent risk of injury. So now he can give more.

Knowing there is adequate back up to cover him if he needs a rest or gets injured. Personally I’ve always found if I have a slight niggle and try to protect it by maybe moving slightly different or adjusting a stride or something eventually I’d get something worse in another part of my body from doing such a thing.

Another solid performance and unlucky not to get an assist or two. Just seems to go without saying these days, most consistent player in the team and one of the most in the league

Solid performance as we have come to expect. I really hope he can add goals to his game to move from a really good to a great full back.

Having a very good season.

Random stat: no defender in the league has created more chances than Shaw this season.
