If we have £80m total to spend then I’m afraid we'll be in a similar situation again next season - competing for top 4 places and not having enough in the Champions League, so it doesn’t really matter who I say.

Maybe somehow scrape 25m together more from sales (Tuanzebe, Lingard, etc) and try to fix both attack and defence:

Vestergaard 15m (contract expiry 2022)
Haaland 90m

De Gea
AWB - Vestergaard - Maguire - Shaw
McTominay
Greenwood - Bruno - Pogba - Rashford
Haaland

Would be decent and have lots of goals in it. Realistically we need to spend more to win anything though. City are just a big force.

Not another two pair of slow centre back.

Replace matic and get a centre back. There’s still way more work to do and this could be the summer sancho moves so I guess that’s where our money and attention will be which I’m fine with but he should have been crossed off the list last summer. The board will have set the rebuild a solid year behind if they stump up 80 again this summer. We are about 200 million off a complete squad even on paper and how that actually plays out in reality once the money is spent is anyone’s guess. We still badly need a few starters.

Varane Pogba swap.

Buy Sancho for 70m.

Buy CDM? Who? Is 40m enough? The guy at Gladbach any good?

Sell Lingard, Dalot, Pereira to get 30m.

PP will stay. No other team will pay his wages and transfer fee. He'll resign.

BD will look for cash up front no matter who they sell.. the game of poker play will end with us signing some defender for 40-50m

Martial regressing this season sets us back massively because established strikers are very expensive. This team needed three starters in the summer and we shot ourselves in the foot by not getting at least one - CB or DM.

With good scouting we could get a CB and DM at around £80m combined, maybe £50m for the defender and a £30m punt on a CB from the European Leagues.

If our forwards return to form I wouldnt class Sancho or another forward as a must get but I think something must be done. I guess it depends on whether the owners would be willing to stretch the budget and do more in one summer or whether we could find a buyer for Martial and top up to get someone like Halaand in.

Another issue is that I suspect that our budget would be funded by the Pogba sale but I dont see anyone paying a fee big enough to interest us and we will end up resigning him on an obscenely big contract. I think keeping Pogba will affect what we will be able to do in terms of recruitment.

Above all else, need a leader CB in. Maguire isn’t a proper leader, he’s confident but not an organiser.

if our budget was only £80M it doesn’t matter who we sign because it’s not enough for a title challenge.

Even though this is completely hypothetical I feel our actual summer transfer budget will be around this area, we definitely won’t be getting someone like Haaland. Maybe a CB and a RW.

Sell the unwanted players generating about 50m.

take 100m of that and get Haaland

take the other 30m and do a deal for Botman

keep Pogba. Sell martial 50m. Invest in a CDM type.

Sure seems like there will be a lot of posters who are really angry at Dortmund, again, come September

Yeah Haaland of course. 80m+Martial will do I believe. Perfect business for everyone. We get one of the best strikers in the world and Martial can re-discover his form in Germany.

Martial is on £250,000 a week. There's not a club in Europe who will even offer him half that weekly amount, so he's not going anywhere.

Same goes for De Gea.

Spurs will value Kane at least £120 million so nobody will be buying him due to his age and Covid financial issues.

Grealish will cost at least £90 million. Our priority will be central defense, so there won't be a spare £90 million left over after we buy a central defender.

So there's really no hope of Kane and Grealish realistically speaking.

I think our summer will look like this - a signing of a central defender such as Wesley Fofana or Tyrone Mings, and a couple of unheard of superkids and that will be it.
That's one of the huge problems at the club...our wage structure is ridiculous! We pay most players way too much, way more than they would get elsewhere and then we struggle to move them. What has Martial done to deserve those wages? There isn't any club in the world that will offer him anything near that. We also gave DDG a ridiculous pay increase and basically have shot ourselves in the foot....he won't want to leave and take a significant pay cut.

If we don’t sign Sancho [the guy the club portrayed as a top priority less than a year ago who is seemingly more readily available] then feck this club - pay up for a top class talent or it’s Hazard all over again.

Nobody's stopping you from not engaging with other fans.
I made a comment about Sancho & how it would make me feel about the club - 2 posters have since engaged with my posts not the other way round.

I should go & support another club/engage with other fans simply cause my opinions don’t echo the chamber. . . fair.

Haaland
or Sancho
or Grealish
in that order of preference. Can part-swap Martial if £80m doesn't cut it, although I'm not sure I'd spend more than £80m on Sancho currently.

Get Alaba in on a free, max 3-year contract, max wage same as Pogba (if he wants more than that, fair play to whoever coughs it up but he's not worth that to us). You get a top DM and a top CB all rolled into one, and I hear he's pretty handy at LB if we ever need more cover there. Only 28, too!

Keep Pogba. If he does leave, Grealish goes to the top of the list above, because Bruno must not be the only creative fulcrum in the squad.

Let De Gea go if a decent offer (50m+) comes in.

Continue to ship out other dead wood as and when it is sensible to do so. Dead wood does not yet include James or VDB, you maniacs. Mata can leave provided Diallo has shown he's not a total no-hoper by then.

Oh Lordy.
Martial an ré-discover his love of Hip Hop music in Germany.
Haaland is going to cost a hell of a lot more than 80 mill plus Martial. Closer to 200 Mill. IMO.

Get a RW in. Sancho can probably be got for that fee so address that problem and then have Mason and Martial compete for the 9.
Haaland will be more expensive and, frankly, why would he come here currently assuming he’ll have at least a few of Bayern, City, Real, Juve, Chelsea etc as options as well?

I really think we shouldn’t have signed Amjad and kept to Sancho this season as our target, that guy is a finished article, would be easier to negation with BD and he isn’t their talisman anymore.

Since we seem to have a right winger in Amad, Haaland will be the obvious one but he’ll be £100m+ And I believe he’ll go to Bayern to replace Lewa

We need a CB, DMF, CF and AMR. We shouldn’t sell Pogba if he wants to stay, so that really only means having maybe £10-30m from Lingard, Jones, etc sales. So I’d split it between all positions prioritising some cheaper Eastern European and African targets.

Doesn’t look good lads

£80 mil wont even buy one player We need.
Sales of a couple are compulsory to boast the kitty. why do we keep sending players on loan who are not good enough? Sell them starting with Jesse.

Should we be making an offer for Richarlison? He is a good player, works hard, gets some goals, a big upgrade on Martial, 30million should be a good price.
