Shaw has a convincing top speed for sure, just ask Salah whom Shaw constantly outpaces. I just had to check, and in James’ last season with Swansea, he clocked more than 36km/h, level with Mbappe.

I still think the metric is more entertaining than value as it only record a split second top speed, but not the distance it was kept. Nobody thinks that Wes Morgan was faster than most PL attackers. Adama Traore never features on these lists, but you don’t have to watch him much to say he is faster than Greenwood or Martial. In fact, I’d argue that pace, in particular acceleration, is a little weakness for Greenwood. Long term it may prove beneficial, as he doesn’t grow reliant on it, but he isn’t rapid.

I still struggle to see how you think Martial and Greenwood are as fast as James. Did you see Giflord’s video of James’ sprint above?
can you link that

A useful tool to keep in the shed, as attested to by his performance v La Real. James can’t be on massive wages and he’ll never cause us a problem with his agent.

I also found a fan site claiming 38 km/h, but I couldn’t find anything to back this up.
There are plenty of people commenting on hin being the fastest they’ve seen, such as Hungary’s coach who said exactly that and continued that maybe Mbappe has similar speed. Again, Rashford is up there. Martial and Greenwood are not close.

Gets some undeserved abuse on this forum at times - chuffed to see him get a goal on Thursday. Think people forget how much talent and promise he showed in his first few games for us. There's a decent player in him, maybe not world class but certainly a player who'd probably be great off the bench and won't be a dick about it.

We need as many players possible playing well during the latter stages of the season. That's why City are doing as well as they are - because they are finding more players picking up form mid/end of season.
People moaning about Dan James whether he should be kept or sold. This guy is the least of our worries. Would much rather we all focus on getting a CB in.

It's understandable when you watch him play as to why Leeds have been in for him a couple of times. Perfect player for their system.

Shaw did a ask a question on Sky this week , he said in 100 metres James is the fastest followed by Rashford and Axel he also said he was on a par with them but I’m not sure was he joking about or not.
Ole said there’s nobody faster than Shaw when fit. He can really shift when he wants to.

And do you see Williams as one of the fastest? Funny to see so many mentioning Dalot. Terrible acceleration on him, but he might have a good top speed. Never seen it though.
I think Williams is fast when he gets going and if hes clocking high speeds in the tests they do at training then he might be up there. I dont think Greenwood has just randomly thrown his name in there

It's the acceleration that's important. We now see that Maguire is not slow either when he gets going. James is no slouch and I like his attitude and if he gets his passing and his decision making better he would be a useful player.

Exactly. Pace isn't much use if it takes you 30 yards and 4 seconds to hit top speed.

Rashford, James, Bailly, all are very quick from an almost standing start.

I would like to add also as to when you start. I am an older guy who saw Cruijff and them lot at their peak and one of the things he always kept saying was that he is not that quick. He says he is quicker off the mark. In football especially if all you need is twenty yards or so.

His decision making is atrocious but his finishing is decent and you can't fault his energy and work-rate in the last two games.

He's quietly having a decent goalscoring season. 5 in 13 in all comps. Already beaten his tally from last season.

IMO he played a very good damn match. I have slaughtered him ton of times before and don't think long term he's good enough, but he ran his socks off and was the only player in first half putting on a shift. He wasn't supported at all on the right flank and was playing on his own for the majority of time. He deserves the goal.

think he was excellent today. Has been getting a goal/assist a game when he’s been playing. More than some others.....

Good game again! Glad he proved a lot of the moaners wrong, he’s a good squad option to have. His driving runs in field were good.

One of the most measured and mature games I've seen from him in a long time, good game.

Lots of graft and effort, some nice stuff and a good goal.

He needs to take a leave of absence from the Tony V school of crossing though.

Looking a lot better, he might yet be a dependable back up.

Took his chance well and ultimately made the difference

Good hit with a weaker foot, these type of moments when team needs a goal and he delivered.

Seriously well done, lad.

Took his goal very well. Maybe he has a place here as a bit part player. His pace is very useful & his finishing is getting decent.

Just work a bit on calmly crossing the ball.. and he'll be really good. Its certainly something that he can improve on if he puts in the time. Gets into some really good positions.. then the cross is a bit hopeful.

His final balls are not good enough yet.

But, him getting into some form would help our front line.

Good game, would probably leave him in the starting 11 for now with Martial being so shite and move Rashford up top.

He's just an enigma to me. He plays safe passes, doesn't find a man with crosses, can dribble into dead ends

But also works bloody hard and has a knack of scoring, which I believe to be quite a good asset.
