Absolutely terrible. He and Matic couldn’t cope with Jonjo Shelvey and Hayden.
Threw up in my mouth reading that, crikey, when was the last time someone made those two look competent?

Coaching staff need to grab him and ban him from shooting. No idea why he fancies himself so much when he's worse than fecking Rojo?

Surely one of the worst passers in the league. It's like holding the square or X button for maximum power regardless of distance or direction to a teammate.

I'm sure there were more but he had 3 of the worst passes you would ever see in that game. First one he passed to Solskjaer on the touchline with no player in sight. Second one he seemingly over hit a ball over the top by about 40 yards and finally he passed another straight out of play with no one around. Add to that yet another off balance shot with his right foot from outside the box which should be a fine every time it happens at this stage

I love Fred... His right foot shots are genuinely hilarious. You've gotta admire the confidence he has in himself to continue to take them on.

He is one of the worst passers I have as a midfielder in a Utd shirt. Can't pass for shit, if it isn't 3-5 yards he will underhit or overhit it. But occasionally it's in the general direction. Would love to have a player who could run about and pass the ball playing for us.

His shooting hurts my eyes, sometimes his passing too.
Ah come on now lads you'll trigger the posting of passing stats with that kind of talk.

Some mental passes tonight but i've seen him play worse.

How many like me can say they were in attendance to see Fred score his three goals for Man United?

What will happen first, full capacity supporters returning to Old Trafford or Fred scoring his 4th goal for United?

Dock him a weeks wages whenever he shoots.
Literally just about to say this. A fine for every time he takes a shot outside the box. His conversion rate must be the worst in the league.

I don't find it particularly admirable to watch a player continue to do the same thing unsuccessfully over and over again. Fred has a lot of endearing qualities, his shooting is not one of them.

I've gone past being annoyed at it to just thinking its funny now... his shooting isn't just terrible, it's like, hilariously bad. Plus he clearly thinks he's incredible at shooting too, which makes it all the funnier.

I wish I could believe I was as good at anything in life like Fred thinks he is at shooting.

Do you think he's got something wrong with his vision because I've never seen a player misplace so many passes so badly.

He actually passed the ball out of play last night and there wasn't a player within about 10 metres of where he passed it too, if it were a long cross field ball I could accept it but this was a low side footed pass.

Last night be one of those games where his passing goes to absolute trash. Not the only one suffering from it but some of them were pretty bad.

Mindboggling that a professional footballer at the highest level has a shoot that almost makes me blush.

I would guess he is currently trying to hard to reach the level he has shown before. Really poor confidence atm. That collision with Maguire was also very odd.

That was on maguire, Fred already had the ball and Maguire charges into him.

His touch is too inconsistent, his long range passing is non existent, and he doesn't provide much creativity or progression. He's a solid player. A good squad player. But will always be a weakness as we arent creative enough with a midfield of McTominay and Fred.

Terrible besides his given energy amd that pass at the end to Scott who completely botched it.

Noticeable he’s the one who was getting the most space in Chelsea’s half — because they knew he was the one who poses the least threat.

I think Fred is generally pretty good but the issue is that he shouldn't be our best cm and when Pogba isn't playing (and likely gone in summer) he is and that's the issue. I think Fred and a quality cm would be a good combo. That said do need to stop him getting into shooting positions as he just doesn't have the shot to justify it!

Under par game. Lots of mistakes but lots of heart and also some very good stuff also e.g it was his pass that released McT.

A lot of energy and running as usual but deary me he's mostly useless with the ball. Very un-Brazilian if this is actually a term ?

The problem is the same as with Lindelof and Maguire. It can’t be both. It’s one or the other with a different kind of player.

I think Fred is great, but him and McTominey together doesn’t work. There is no quality from deep. He needs a different partner so he can do what he does best, because he is great at it.

Anyone who can’t admire how much ground he covered today and how he never shies away after playing so much football, is being extremely harsh.

He is fantastic at what he does.

I've said this several times, if people want to have these dominating performances and thrash teams we have to have more than one capable midfielder that can create a chance.

He was better defensively, but both him and McT were exposed yet again as being below par when pressured and having to play in tight spaces, as neither has the required quality to beat a press with a pass or quick dribble and create a chance.

We have a player in a key, creative position that can't pass or shoot. I like the player, but he is upgradeable and we need somebody who is more creative in that position. We've got a wall in midfield who are reasonably effective at stopping the opposition, but offer little going the other way. 0 goals and 1 assist in 31 performances. Come on, now.

I want to watch a footballer play in CM not a ground coverer if I wanted to watch some cover ground I’d watch Mo Farah. The argument that he’s good at covering ground doesn’t equate to his 50 million price tag! We paid 50 million for a Brazilian footballer who can’t pass, shoot or head. The levels people are willing to accept here are a joke and we will never challenge if we continue to accept average players putting in average performances at the club.

I can’t decide if the expectations of him are so low, that running around being a nuisance is “having a good game” for some. He was poor today. His touch is dreadful. His passing is woeful. Always behind the player, rarely the right weight to allow the player to make a positive move.

Good pass at the end, but if a professional football player can’t hit 50 yards of space under no pressure then we are struggling, so can’t get too giddy about that one. Three years here, in his physical prime, and at best he’s a squad option. I don’t believe he’s shown enough to be considered that.
Players I consider better than Fred. Shelvey, Reed, Berge, Phillips, Bissouma. All at the bottom of the table, and comfortably could offer more than Fred.
There must be a better player in there than we’ve seen, but evidently we are incapable of unlocking it.
