Normally I'd agree but I'm just so sick of them all. They are bringing a toxic atmosphere over our club. They are the worst.

If they find it so bad I wish they all do something else until Ole is no longer the manager whenever that is.
You have to realize some people are only happy when they are miserable. They really are a drag on our fan base. I’m hoping some of them sod off to support Bayern or PSG. They can complain that they only won the league by 12 pts...

Results are the most important aspect and somehow Ole is getting enough of them over the line. The issue is that a team that is performing bad is eventually going to concede to bad results overtime. I've reiterated this again and again that Solskjaer will not stand the test of time as a manager here if he cannot give the first 11 an identity. An identity in ethos, philosophy, patterns of play, movement, cohesiveness etc those are the foundations of a winning team.
This is where I am at. Overtime, results and performances will find equilibrium. Our performances are consistently average. Until that improves, I am sorry, I cannot have faith.

Yes, actually you're right. We're second because Ole struck gold and signed Bruno. Otherwise he'd have been sacked by now. I don't agree that Ole is the reason why we are second though and I certainly think we could do better or be closer to City anyway, and performed considerably better in the UCL, if we had a better coaching team - including Ole.
Bruno was a great signing that epitomises the sensible squad building Ole has attempted to oversee, in spite of some poor backing in the recent summer window.

I don’t think this current team is capable of a great deal more until we bring in another goal scoring forward and a proper centre half that addresses our glaring weaknesses. We also lack a central midfielder who can properly knock it about, in truth.

I see a team that plays a lot of good football in spurts: identifiable patterns of pay (Jesus) exist. I also see a team that is hamstrung by flaky forwards who sometimes look like they couldn’t hit a barn door. No fancy-Dan coaching team is going to change that any time soon.

We’re going in the right direction although we look considerably poorer when Pogba is not in the side. Ole is meeting his part of the bargain; I think the board needs to do the same and equip him with a team that can win the title.

We are not well coached team and it may not even be directly due to Ole but ultimately he is responsible. Our poor playing is because of that. Does it mean he is as bad as others make him out to be? No. He may be a decent coach but we don't need a decent coach. Either he could get top class coaches to replace the all inexperienced ones he have. SAF did it always.

They really must be awfully miserable people in real life too.

They all said we'd be struggling to get top 4 and now we're second it's still not good enough....they aren't even consistent.

Imagine if we had a rw that could win 1v1 battles. Would open so much for us with how we play

This is a relegation threatened team that is dominating possession at OT! Let that sink in for a minute, that's how poor we've been!
Well that’s just a giant untruth. We actually dominated the ball. Think it was 70-30. There’s enough to analyse and say we need to do better with without having to make stuff up.

I'm not Ole out per say but there's a bigger chance of us finding another gear or two with say an Allegri than us getting worse. We could still find that gear under him though.

This ridiculous point keeps being brought up, like it was some deep insightful wisdom. The manager signs an excellent player; how is that a stick to beat him with?

Said player performs beyond anyone's expectations, but some fans can't even enjoy a win or having quality in the team, because 'how dare anything make our PE teacher look better than a PE teacher, rightv

You can be sick of them. But don't let the negativity make you negative. Just put down facts and smile.

I have been around this place forever but only joined in 1 1/2 years ago when I saw that Solskjaer needed some backing here. And I learned that you can only fight darkness with light. Not with more darkness.

You have to realize some people are only happy when they are miserable. They really are a drag on our fan base. I’m hoping some of them sod off to support Bayern or PSG. They can complain that they only won the league by 12 pts...
I don't know about PSG. Maybe next year. Bayern seems good choice. Grande Riviere in Mauritius seems to have big lead so maybe they are favorites when it comes to changing clubs.

So much negativity in here. Dark, dark, dark place.

It is like this place is try out for Saurons army.
Indeed. Feels like a goo of vitriol and negativity is about to ooze through the edges of the screen.

I mean, I can understand the moaning after a loss, but if winning frustrates you, you're probably not doing the 'fan' thing right.

Absolute nonsense OP. This club was in horrible shape before Ole took over. Our league positions alone demonstrate what a huge leap forward we've had under him, and no one can argue that the make up of the squad has progressed significantly, with some excellent recruitment. This season we have scored more PL goals than any other team. He is obviously a good coach. Until he wins something, the question marks will be hanging over his head, but he was the right man for the job at the right time, and he has turned this shit show around and shown actual long term vision for the development of this squad. I for one am delighted, and excited to see where he takes us with a couple more transfer windows under his belt. He has ditched so much deadwood, in a ruthless fashion, and brought in quality replacements.

We still have a long way to go, and we may eventually have to move on to someone to take us to the next level, but Ole has merited his appointment, and merits keeping it.

Now we should be a lot closer to City and bossing it in Europe?

This is key for me. If he were to leave the club today he'd be leaving it in significantly better shape than when he arrived. He has moved on the right players, while rejuvenating others we thought were done. He has brought attacking flair back to the team, and is getting us back to the point where we start thinking about challenging for the major honours again. He deserves respect for that.

The one thing I don’t get is the persistence with playing out from the back like we do. Our back four is very poor in close areas and don’t play well against a high-press. So many times we lost the ball in our defensive third I just end up yelling at the TV.

I'm not so sure. We've tried big names in LvG and Mourinho not so long ago. Yet the best results and football style have come under Ole.

My take is I'd rather give him time until it's obvious he has nothing to give rather than take risk and try to fix something that seems to be working.

Exactly right. And while that trajectory continues to move upwards, he merits his role. He's done a terrific job so far. It's easy to forget what a stagnant, miserable squad he walked in to. One that was horribly imbalanced, and old. And he's brought the best out in so many players that others had written off.

No doubt when he has the chance to sign a pacey CB of requisite quality, a top class RW, and a quality playmaking DM, he will do so.

Is defending set pieces coaching? If it is, it’s currently a terrible weakness in the set up.

Ah, yes, let's lock all threads which don't follow the opinions I like. You people did it with the other thread and now we're back to being average, apparently this thread is too negative.

Some people just seem to want to play happiness police. Seemingly if everyone doesn't think the way you do, they're 'miserable', 'crawling out of a woodwork' or some other elementary school insult.

Again, I've dealt with plenty of this shite in my life and in the majority of the cases, these happy-go-lucky types are just deluded.

Did you miss us winning the UEL & FA Cup post Fergie; this period is far from successful.

OgS has done many good things but feck me, losing in multiple cup semis & trying his hardest to not finish 2nd this season isn’t my idea of success.

You actually highlighted ‘given recent years’ and ‘fairly’.

And given the wound up tone of your post it kind of underlines my earlier point

In ‘recent’ years, in fact let’s just go by the last year; we’ve lost multiple semi finals & finished 3rd; that isn’t success on any level lad.

But yes, I’m wound up. . . it’s definitely not your delusion.

Let's close every thread that dares to talk in any negative way about coaching or manager. All these are "toxic" threads in some people's eyes. Let's just turn this forum full RAWK when they were shit and only open delusional threads about how great we're.

Probably close the entire football discussion forum and keep the non football ones only active to avoid any negative talk about the team.

Ah, well sorry you’re wound up. Maybe try some deep breaths?

You could look at it another way. We reached 3 semis and finished 3rd behind two high achieving clubs in terms of league position? I totally get that we should be aiming higher and that should be the aim for a club of our standing. Let’s hope that the owners try and put their hands in their pockets this summer to plug some of the gaping gaps we can all see.

Being positive isn’t such a bad thing either. We just won, got 3 more points, are second, and have a wealth of young talents improving all the time.

Just watched the game, not read the thread. Can imagine there are those who will say this game, up until the 3rd goal maybe (or Martial's benching) is a case in point of how hopeless we look collectively, far too often, which really does point to not-good-enough coaching (to use language that won't rile people). And then there are probably those who feel there should be nothing but appreciation after a hard fought 3-1 win, with the odd "you would have taken this after the first 3 matches of the season" bit.

We definitely still look one dimensional, slow tempo, predictable, defensively suspect - especially at set pieces - and some players get too much time to prove they're not up for it. Thought the first half tonight was one of the most hopeless performances I've seen in a while with one bit of individual brilliance.

My hope is Ole gets a coach (coaches) who can do that whole aspect of his job, and that he buys into it.

There's having a constructive debate and then there's bullshit like just flat out lying about what happens in a game and having a echo chamber of miserable dumplings contesting to see who can whine the most.

I'm happy to have a talk about our defense setup because it's very seemingly not working, or who should start in goal. But when it's the same handful of people that post one of their 6 macro keyed responses, it needs to be called out.

I want to know what we can do to make Martial snap back into form, not hear about how we'll never win anything under Ole, when we are still in contest for titles this very season. The first topic is helpful, the second is reactionary crying.

Our tactics in games where opponents sit deep are hoping Rashford and Bruno do something. As much as I love Ole, you have to think what a Nagelsmann or even a Graham Potter would do with this squad.

I think it's just Ole is such a likeable bloke that people want him to do well. But if we want to return to where we were, we need to look elsewhere, unless something changes.

Literally! I've just read back 3 pages and I'm astounded, haven't been on the internet so much recently but didn't realise there was still such an anti-Ole agenda!

Our transformation as a club over the past 2-3 seasons has been incredible. We're 2nd in the league to the most expensively assembled squad of all time, ffs! Bore off, you're not United fans.

Great match from Ole. Slow start but he got us going from the touchline. shame about their lucky equaliser. Perfect line up due to injuries and rotating players, 3 academy players on the bench. perfect tactics of controlling the play and when to attack Newcastle to get our goal that killed them. Perfect timing of subs and closing out the game. Nice to have a thread to comment on how well we’re doing in regards to how the team sets up.

Did you get this stressed in 2006? 1992? We haven’t always steamrolled trophies left right and centre. There’s this thing called progress-it’s worth bearing in mind . Maybe do a bit of research on previous United campaigns to get acquainted with it?

I see very clear patterns of play. You can’t?

One touch passing by the middle pivots improving. The left side of Rashford/Shaw is so very productive.

‘There are execution issues at time in build up or in the box. But even top teams have to endure that. I see nothing of the awfulness that we had to under Moyes, LVG and Mourinho. Are we perfect? No. But this team, when fully fit and firing is miles better than any post SAF squad. That’s a fact backed up by record, goal scoring and goal difference.
Not for me the productivity of two wide players I'd consider to be nothing more than link up play. Pattern of play perhaps the wrong definition but more inclined to how we influence the phases of play representing how the off ball movement is used to form shapes that provide angles to also pass in between the lines / shift the opposition to create spaces. We struggle to break teams down as a result.

There's no intensity to how the team moves the ball around, the players will always be inconsistent performance wise as a result. I can't understand this argument that we are better than Mourinho / LVG it's like saying that Jose / Poch were better than Redknapp but Spurs aren't reformed when it comes down to actually winning anything. It's a contrast that doesn't quantify an element of objectivity.

I appreciate the progress Solskjaer has made, this isn't a recommendation to sack the manager. This is more the ceiling in how far we are going to go. Neville has raised all of the same points saying that the next phase is for Ole to implement an identity it's not exactly something that needs meditation on to observe.

Again, no one is stressed & your Top Red’ism isn’t really helping progress any discussion.

You made a statement I disagreed with, that happens on a forum I don’t need to reacquaint myself with previous baron spells especially when those came under the stewardship of the greatest manager of all time with a once in a generation youth class.

Who said we’ve steamrolled trophies throughout our history? Not me.

Who said there’s been no progress? Not me.

Who’s called our recent history where we get knocked out in the latter stages of multiple cup competitions & finish 3rd a successful period then ran from those comments? You.

When you feel like actually discussing the comments you made instead of hyperbolic nonsense about periods under the greatest manager ever then I’m here but right now that blind optimism is looking unfounded.

Your initial comments weren’t about progress, keep up.
