It’s crazy how young he is. He’s just turned 17 this month!

Congratulations to him and all his family. Would be great if he can get some more minutes throughout the season.

Well done he’s 13
Fortunately/unfortunately, I think I’ve got at least 6 more years checking on some of you guys because Shola’s younger brother (at United Academy) is SOMETHING else.
2 out of 2 kids playing for United!? Take one for the team and have 9 more sons and then we can have a full Shoretire XI in the future?

Other than just congratulations, may I give an opinion of mine? I find he is not slim anymore and is probably in process starting building up his body shape? I am sure your family are trying your best to help him to success from many many small things and details. I feel it may be very important to manage his diet carefully so that he won’t overbuild his body shape, like Deeney in watford. Shola has a lot more potential than that if he can keep his agility. No offense or anything negative. Just wish him all the best in his future!
Pretty sure that a dietician will be assigned to him now that he's involved with the first team.

I don't want a ban.
But there will be inevitable jokes as he becomes more involved and famous, about his resemblance to such a named person, on the hell that is social media.
Eh? You’re the nobhead that’s said it yourself?

Give it two weeks and you’ll have posters clamouring for his debut too! :D

Congrats to you, Shola, and family!

It's insane because Foden looks a very similar size to Shoretire in a shirt, yet......

Foden’s got 3 years of growth on Shola, tbf. Even without weight training, you’ll just start to naturally fill out. Compare Greenwood or Rashford from when they debuted to now.

I really hope he's not going to have to get all his minutes over the next couple of seasons in wide positions. He's a central player. Sometimes there's this weird attitude when giving youngsters/fringe players minutes at United that the wing and #10 positions are just interchangeable 'attacking midfield' slots. They're not. Sure, some can excel in both, but not everyone does.

He should come on at some point for whoever starts as #10, whether that's Bruno or Mata or VdB.

Congratulations, sir. Thank you for bringing into the world these two fine young men, and any other siblings they may have.

Despite what Shankly once said, life is about a lot more than football, but what unites us here on RedCafe is football. May we long regale the exploits of your family.

He's done well for the reserves this season. It was nice to see him given his 1st team debut the other night.

His game is so mature for his age. He’s talented and works hard for the team. I hope he keeps on developing.

Father sounds really humble describing a ten year old as something else. Like he won't have enough pressure on him having a brother like Shola around.

Still think we put unproven talents on pedestals too early and in the 18s and 23s games I've watched I've only seen flashes but granted he's 17. Remember talking to Rooneys Dad years ago when Wayne had broken through and the one thing that shine through was how grounded he was. At 16 he was scoring the winner against Arsenal and at 17 had scored double figures and was playing in the England senior squad. Fast forward all those years and I believe Rooneys lad (in the same year as Sholas brother) recently scored every goal against City in his age group and took them apart. One thing I can guarantee. His Father (and Grandfather) won't be describing him as 'something else'.

Genuinely no need. It's a father being proud of his son. Don't be a jackass.

Lads done brilliant and is obviously very talented. If it is his Father of course he's proud (but crazy to come on a public forum). Just think better to be humble and keep pressure off young children.

I guarantee you that the club are keeping exceptionally close tabs on all the youth players' habits and diets. It's not like they just show up to practice, get a high five and then go home and do whatever.

This is an opinion you should just not ever give anyone, especially aimed at a teenager.

How do you know he isn’t? Absolutely no idea what he says to him in private. I really can’t imagine him saying” hey you’re brilliant, the best thing I’ve ever seen!”

I’d hardly describe him as a young child

If you ever have children, you will understand how proud anything he or she does that's good will fill you to the brim with pride.

In fact, moderators: how do I delete someone elses terrible comment?

Garbage. Our youth system is fantastic and to produce the players we have over the years is unreal.

Maybe it's a generational thing but my comment certainly wasn't meant to cause offence. Keeping pressure off kids would be my way but I'm much older and recall how it used to be. Fathers didn't put their kids all over social media like they do now. Our youth development programme is fantastic and over the years has been the envy of other clubs. I like to watch the games on MUTV and keep a keen eye on the boys coming through. Without these boys the beating heart of the club would die. This season my view is that Hugill and Mejbri have been fantastic as I have suggested in other posts.

Great moment for Shoretire being United's youngest ever player to play in a European competition. Manchester United have always given youth a chance and Ole is eager to do so. But it is also clear to see that he is far away from being a real option in the first team. Hope he works hard so that he might be part of the first team in the next 18-24 months.

I agree with your initial comment, and am not even that old (I don't think so anyway). But, while you weren't disrespectful imo, I find that some people only like comments that fit their narrative and refuse to acknowledge that someone else may have a different opinion.
So often I've started typing a reply then deleted it because some people can't even engage in discussions, it just ends up in name calling etc.

On the topic of his debut, I was pleased to see that he seemed more physically ready than someone like Williams.

Your last comment in bold is a bit over sensitive in my view. Maybe it’s a generational thing but I think the poster you were replying to was just trying to make a respectful comment and I think you’ve maybe overreacted. Perhaps it’s just my age but it doesn’t seem to take much to offend people these days generally. Some players do overemphasise weight training, bulk and strength over staying lean and nimble, particularly as they’re developing. I certainly don’t think I’d have been upset if that was said about one of my lads so I don’t personally see it as wrong to bring it up as a point. Maybe I’m just a bit too old in my ways though...

Your first paragraph is undoubtedly true though...young Shola couldn’t be at a much better club for watching his development. I seem to remember an article years back when they (maybe SAF) was even talking about how they did bone scans on the youngsters to get an idea of how big they’d eventually grow to be which demonstrates the science and attention that goes into their development.

Hilarious how some of the so called "Experts" who haven't got a clue what they're talking about started coating the lad off and then when his dad joined the forum he pulled them up about it and they've either squirmed and backtracked or are getting stroppy about it .

this is all getting a bit weird now, having a 1st team players dad on the caf. not in a bad way weird, just kind of breaking the fourth wall as it were. as long as he doesnt give out any fantasy football tips im sure it will all be good.
(for context my 8 year old got a 'tried hard this week at school' award once (ie hadnt done anything of note academically they could reward him for) and I was effin chuffed)

Players and parents read comments on here all the times. I just hope people are mindful of that.

I wonder how he is viewed against other academy graduates, players like Pogba, Rashford, Greenwood etc.

The magnitude of being the youngest player in the history of the club was a bit lost on me, as I’d only heard about him for a few weeks.

But good luck to him.
