Thought it was a very good assist actually. Showed sharp thinking there otherwise the defender would have intercepted the Matic pass.

I liked this performance, he should drop deep more because he has the ability to help with our buildup significantly when he wants.

Quiet game by his standards and looked frustrated with the lack of service from the midfield pivot, ice cold penalty as usual.

He actually got an assist for the James goal?

Everything he touches get turned into gold.

Actually don’t think he had that great of a game today, yet he still got a G+A, which is fantastic.

Decisive. We’re still searching for the right balance in the team, but in the meantime, we need him to just keep putting numbers on the board.

Piracy on the High Seas.
This tweet reminds me, he is tantalizingly close to another rare Premier League distinction...
  • Cantona in 1992—93: 15 goals and 16 assists.
  • Le Tissier 1994—95: 19 goals and 16 assists.
  • Henry 2002—03: 24 goals and 20 assists.
  • Hazard 2018—19: 16 goals and 15 assists.
Appreciating the four Premier League players to register 15 goals and 15 assists in a single season.

Will be far removed from Henry's absurd 20-20 record by the end of the season unless he goes through a historically anomalistic purple patch, but Bruno needs only 5 more assists in a maximum of 13 matches to become the fifth player to register at least 15 goals and 15 assists in a season. Fingers crossed, as it's pretty doable!

Player of the year. He’s lifted the team this year - done that since joining actually. A proper leader on the pitch, class off the pitch too. The return we’ve had from him, the professionalism and love for the club that he shows is joyful. Thank God for him in our team

I'm becoming increasingly fearful that he will leave in future, while we continue to remain at square 1.

Hope I'm wrong.

I hope you're wrong, but I have the same concern. His reaction to his goal against West Brom seemed to be letting out some frustration about recent results.

He's just 2 goals off Pogba's total now. What an impact, unfortunately says a lot about Pogba's lack of impact too.

We can state it at this point: Bruno is the most impactful player we have had since SAF retired. Absolutely mind-blowing player in every way.

And he is fantastic when playing alongside Pogba. So that is amazing, for us, especially if Pogba stays.

We will win something substantial if we have the midfield of Bruno, Pogba, McT and DVB is able to grow into a capable sub for Bruno/Pogba when they are injured or tired. That kind of midfield with well-firing attack (which we have) and a good defense (which we are close to) is a team that can fight for EPL and even Champions League

I was thinking, how would he excell under Fergie? Will he get into our 99/08 starting-11s? And where will he play? Which player he is gonna replace?

What do you guys think?

In '99, probably rotation with Yorke, who similarly excellent, hard to see where he fits in naturally. Could possibly play centre mid occasionally instead of Scholes, but again Scholes was great. In '08 could see him in that fluid front 3 with Ronaldo and Rooney, would have been better than Tevez.

Wasn't Scholes used in rotation quite regularly with Butt in 99 ?

Anyway, in the form Bruno is in, and the experience he has, he would've been a starter over Scholes and Butt ( both 23 yrs old at the time ).

Nonsense, he's a forward. Maguire is more a midfielder than Bruno.
Exaggeration, but there is truth to this. Fernandes is more of an attacker than a midfielder for me. For example he's nowhere near as much of a midfielder as Lampard and we all used to mock the idea of him being a proper midfielder.

He’s a classic no.10 with a monster work rate. He occupies positions advanced positions in the opponents half, but he’s definitely not a forward. :houllier:

When he has better players behind him (Pogba) is when he’s at his furthest forward in midfield, but typically with the McTominay/Fred midfield he’ll float around a lot - moving out onto the wings a lot more. See @Invictus’ post on page 121.
