Morning all.

I was just wandering what people thoughts were on playing players out of position.

I know some Liverpool fans think playing Jordan in defence is having an impact on them and want him back in MF.

We have had SAF play Paul McGrath in MF (iirc we lost that first game) and later on Da Silva etc with success.

We currently have a MF that has it's positive points and its negatives.

Do you think say trying Bailly in MF or AWB with his pace and tackling would be worth a try?

Would probably go about as well as Ferguson's Rio Ferdinand in central midfield experiment. He played Phil Neville, Ronny Johnsen, John O'Shea and Phil Jones there too among others usually in European games. It can work for a game or two but not long term.

What is it about defenders in midfield that you think is a good idea?

Those were just examples.

But I do think with our set up and need for a b2b type someone like Bailly has the skillset. Except for his constant injuries he gets forward well, good in the air, good tackling/breaking up play, and has the stamina to get back

They are using Henderson playing at the back as an excuse.

They aren't scoring goals, that's the issue simple as that.

Bruno - Maguire - McTominay - Shaw
Lindelof - AWB
Rashford - Cavani - Greenwood
James

Putting Bruno at RB would solve our creativity issues in that position. McTominay has been top class at CB for his country in recent times, his height and ball playing abilities are perfect for a modern day CB. Lindelof is known as Mr. Ice Cube, he'd be perfect in the double pivot. So would AWB who is excellent at tackling and interceptions. Cavani needs to be utilised as a target man, win those headers and bring the pacy forwards around him into the game. James has turned into a lethal finisher of late and with his pace he will be deadly up front.

For a guy who plays FM, Ole is really a boring manager who lacks in creativity and innovation.

Wait, we have a handful of midfielders why would we play defenders there? van de Beek is hardly playing as it is.

Someone else on here has suggested playing Wan-Bissaka in a defensive midfield role. And I don't get it at all. While he's a good tackler and defender 1 on 1 his positioning and awareness are his biggest weaknesses. Those are probably the most important attributes for a defensive midfielder when his team doesn't have the ball.
People seem to think all a defensive midfielder does is tackle.

You bang on about creativity but then you don’t even have Krusty the Clown or Bill Gates in your starting XI. If we’re really going to challenge for the league and Champions League we are going to start experimenting at least a bit, it’s quite clear our mainstays aren’t up to the task.

Agree with that, for a push or emergencies then yes but not to experiment were not good enough to try anything like what SAF did.
