I think some here are too quick to forgive Pogba. He has a lot to do to earn my trust and respect back. He’s toyed with the club and fans with some of his statements, and of course Raiola’s big mouth hasn’t helped either. If he delivers on a consistent level, helps us get back to the top then I’m sure all will be forgotten and forgiven.
My thoughts exactly.

Its okay, you still completely ignored the point in that he’s not returned the respect that the club has given him. He’s only considering an extension cause his options are lacking and he’s probably a bit more humble now that it was proven before the break we didn’t need him, Bruno was lighting it up. Your little childish reply doesn’t change that.
And being hyper cynical here, he probably knows he wont be able to secure as good a deal anywhere else. If Pogba becomes half the player we thought we'd signed then we'll still have a great player on our books, but he needs to win back the trust of very many supporters and earn their respect. If he does that then he can be a huge asset to the club.

I agree, if he really wants to stay, if he plays to a consistent, acceptable level, if he's prepared to play where he's asked then great, Ive always said he's a top, top player, and if he can do this Pogba can erase much of what happened before....IF!
Agreed mate, with every single word. The IF is the issue!

This is pretty old now but still nice to see this side of him.

Luke Shaw recently said everybody loves him at United, seems Jose's character assassination really worked.
No one in the dressing room has ever come out with anything to suggest he’s the ‘virus’ the herd on here call him.

I remember Bruno name checking him as the player who helped him look for accommodation when he arrived.

Top player & by the accounts of those who’ve met him, a top man as well.

So what's the plan with Pogba, then? What is the ideal outcome for us? Does he sign a new contract? Does he stay for his final year, help us win the treble, and then we part ways amicably? Do we sell him now while we can still get a bean or two but add to an already messy and potentially difficult summer? Tell me, ya damn ne'er-do-wells.

I don’t see Juve being able to afford Pogba this summer. I can’t see Madrid going in for him given their financial mess and desire to add Mbappe. So we either keep him for another season and he goes on a free next summer or he signs a new contract.

Wouldn't the club look like mugs if we let our record signing (and world record transfer at the time) leave us for free for a 2nd time? I think he has to sign a new deal or be sold this summer.

Another fabulous four/five years from Poggers and his lovely agent?

Pass. Wasn’t worth it.

better still, sell him along with Martial and get players who want to play for the club and look like they want to play, without constant interjections from cnutish slob of an agent and brother doing his mouthing for him. At least have the Bollox to say it yourself.

Very well said Giggsy. He has a very long way to go to prove that he was worth bringing back to OT.
And a couple of half tidy performances are not what is required.

No we won't. Hel be over paid and not worth the money. He's also getting lengthy injuries now, I wouldn't offer him a bumper deal at all. Just let him move on, he's made his position clear and we should plan without him.

I agree, I dont think he'll ever be anything like the player we thought we were buying so we should sell him, cut our losses and move on; even though we'll take a loss we will at list free up £350,000 a week by not having to pay his wages.

Spot on, Pogba was playing better and with more desire but we have every right to expect that from our players, 1 swallow doesnt make a summer and 6/7 half decent performances from supposedly one of the best players in the world cant make up for all the dross of the last 4/5 years.

Sell them both, neither have the desire, passion or attitude to be Manchester United players.

Pogba is miles ahead of any of our CM options, and we have glaring holes in the squad we already need to fill.

Any comments he or his agent makes about wanting to leave etc have been because we aren't a successful side winning trophies.

Look at Liverpool the last year years. Winning everything in sight, so of course the players are happy. Wonder if Mane/Salah fancy playing in the Europa next year, or we'll hear their agents speak.

If Pogba performs anywhere near to the level of consistency that Mane/Salah offered over 2-3 years then you might have made some sense with the point.
Can't come out, chat shit about wanting to leave and be capable of better when it's not shown on the pitch. It's really that simple. If he performed like a Ronaldo or like a Salah/Mane etc. then he probably has that freedom pass of allowing his spokesperson be outspoken.

But if you haven't developed a single season of consistency in your time here, then pipe down and put a muzzle on your agent - it's that simple. By way of glaring holes, I don't really see them if Pogba leaves. We can replace him with another midfielder or use funds towards actual holes in the team (CB/RW/CF).

He might be miles ahead in terms of raw talent but not sure he's exactly what we need. Mctomminay already looks much more of a goal threat than him and Bruno is more creative. Pogba is an incredible cog in a well oiled machine but for the money we'd get from him we could get a player that decides games far more often.

We will sell him to Juve for half the fee we bought him for.

Rather keep Pogba than Martial. Martial as part of the LvG collection can be moved on because his best position is lw when it's also Rashy & Poggers best spot too. Sancho would bring so much more balance to our team as his direct replacement.. VdB as our floater..

Pogba, like all top players, is paid a lot of money to play football, whining that the team he decided to join, nobody held a gun to his head, isn't good enough isn't good enough either. Imagine if you went to work and told your boss you didnt want to work there anymore because everything and everybody's crap; you'd be down the road. OK football isnt like driving a truck or digging ditches or working on a computer, in a shop, a factory, but the principle of "a good days pay for a good days work" is the same. If Pogba dug ditches with a similar mind set to that he's shown for most of his career at United somebody would have buried him by now.

indeed. Has he ever ‘fit’ the team? there’s no one who doubts he is a talented player, but that’s only half the story.

furthermore, his persistent injuries means it doesn’t matter how talented he is - if he’s not on the pitch, he’s no good.

everyone is panicking because he helped Bruno find a house and he’s actually way nicer behind the scenes than his big bad agent and his brother make him seem  Make him the highest paid player in our history. Brilliant plan

How much money can we reasonably expect, given he has one year left and the fact it's not exactly a buyer's market at the moment? We'll be lucky to get £40m I reckon. That doesn't go far these days, particularly not when it comes to game-changing players.

He's always come across as a really sound guy to me. His contract runs out in about 4 months though and he's a key player so it needs resolving!

I want to like Pogba. I've never cared about his hair or his persona, or even, up to a point, the nonsense from his entourage; as long as he can contribute to the team and results. It seemed before this injury, he was doing so - some good perfomances and a couple of match-winning goals suggested he could make those contributions. From what we hear, he's well-liked in the squad and I think he typically responds well to OGS's management of him: at the start when OGS took over, he'd clearly told Pogba to make a statement against Mourinho's 'virus' comments which saw him show probably the best run of form since we signed him. OGS is apparently not afraid of taking Pogba out of the team if his form is off as we saw earlier this season (frustratingly, unlike how Martial or De Gea are managed), which Pogba seemed to respond to leading to his most recent improvement - in particular he seemed much more focussed and disciplined.

The cynic in me thinks maybe this upturn in form is him looking to get a new deal or put himself in the shop window; but this is conjecture and I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. It's just as possible he sees we have... well, had a chance of winning the league - or at least put in more of a title challenge than before. Maybe this is what is motivating him to up his game?

However, his inconsistency is the main reason I'd be happy if we got rid in the summer for a reasonable fee (70m+ would seem fair). He seems as likely to give away a stupid penalty to lose a game than to dominate midfield. He's a little like Veron was - clearly technically gifted, but not really able to fit into a system that works and provides a balance. He doesn't seem to work in tandem as well as other midfielders in the squad do, and as such is shunted about to accommodate him. Losing him wouldn't be losing a key player of our team, but we'd certainly need to re-invest in midfield if we did sell.

Yeah definitely he seems like good fun. Rich young guy with loads of spare time in fun and house buying shocker.
He’s not worth making our highest plaid player ever though. Not just for a few goals from the middle. We can replace that for smaller money with a player who doesn’t switch off defensively. I personally think he and his agent way overplayed his hand here and I hope the club see through it and just let him leave. They’ll most likely panic and do the deal though!

Yeah, I'm hoping Woodward has gotten over his whole 'protecting the asset' thing, but I doubt it. I wouldn't be averse to giving Pogba a three-year contract, or something, if it meant we could postpone the issue of having to replace him in the here and now. We've got enough positions that need addressing without adding Pogba to the mix.

So for me if the club hold their nerve and finally get Pogba the move he’s wanted over the 4 years then that’s another plus for them. They’ve already bought in Bruno and VDB to cover for Pogba. It’s a win. Dont over complicate it. Maybe we will get sancho on the cheap because we didn’t go all in last summer. That might prove to be another shrewd decision. Hiring Ole has been a success so far.

if we re sign him up it’ll be a mega deal and if he becomes unhappy again at any stage then we will be paying to get rid of him. More money wasted and not reinvested in other positions. This is the time to sell and actually make money that could be reinvested. We know this club loves stupid contracts over shrewd recruitment so that’ll be the way it most likely goes. Kick the can down the road for another year or 2. Hopefully this means we at least have as good a shot at haaland and Donnaruma as anyone else.

It’s funny how the party line is he’s great behind the scenes but whatever happened between himself Rom and Jose has probably cost us an absolute fortune and set back whatever rebuild the club was attempting by at least a few years. Factor in the agent constantly spouting shite like Pogba is the best player in the league when he just isn’t. Just move on I say.

If the club is stupid enough to give this passenger a new contract, which we know Ed definitely is, then he can join De Gea and Martial in the overpaid dross club.

It's like some people wake up and just remember they haven't slagged off the guy in a while and find the nearest thread and go off spouting their hatred.

Frankly, it's pathetic.
