He is right. If you play for Manchester United you should always feel and have the belief that you could win the league. If you have no belief as Keane says then you will not win it and there is no point in playing for Manchester United. As he said go and play for a mid table team.

great captain, loved him as a player - but he’s from a different time, and I wouldn’t want him at the club in any official capacity.

edit. Like his punditry.
I think Keane can be good for players like Bruno, Cavani and McTominay etc. Those guys that are hard workers and really appear to have that 'win at any cost' mentality.

However, I can see him quickly having bust ups with the likes of DDG, Martial, Maguire, Pogba etc. It'll end bad as a lot of the modern players are more sensitive and need encouragement as opposed to an iron pipe up the arse.

Was watching an old game on Youtube. Everton players were winding him up all game, including a two footed challenge in the opening minutes but he gave as good as he got.
Everton player winding him up @ 39:40
Revenge a minute later which sparks a mini brawl @ 40:40  To be honest, was a good tackle, if with some excessive force

Also wanted to punch Nick Barmby (how the hell was that a foul against Keane?!).

I can't find the YouTube video of this to try and post the video on here, if someone else knows how to do it then great, but here's a link showing the tackles Man Utd players had to deal with in 94 against Wimbledon. Some hypocrites on here sometimes saying Keane's a thug for deliberately trying to injure Haaland, without being a Utd fan long enough to have seen some of the regular leg breaker tackles that Keane and Man Utd players had to face regularly under Fergie's reign.

The fact Vinnie Jones was a professional footballer and played at the PL level tells you everything you need to know!

Watched a long interview with Roy Keane on Norwegian TV2. Many very good reflections. His assessment of Martial was spot on: glimpse of greatness, but lacks character and not our future nr.9.

Keane was very calm, humble and almost shy during the interview (surprised), at least until the interviewer mentioned Haaland (father). Then I saw his eyes turned black and I saw he worked to keep calm. Don’t believe a word of his explanation :keano: Understand why they waited with the question until the end of the interview:D

I am surprised that they even let Vinny Jones on the pitch. He should be in a ring.

Thanks, enjoy watching these matches. Just before that you see how bad Bosnich was at kicking. Loved seeing Stam getting stuck in there when it all kicked off. Makes me depressed realising what we have these days character wise apart from Bruno.

Absolute sh*thouse isn’t he. Makes me angry that a clown like him should share a pitch with a legend like Cantona, let alone kick lumps out of him.

He’s like the school bully in those clips. Ya know the school bully who is shite at football but you have to let him play to keep the peace.

The absolute state of Wimbledon. It's actually sickening watching that worm Elleray let it all go too when you think of the reds he gave United through the years. Seeing united take them apart with such brilliant football really is a joy to watch.

That's why those United teams were so good. World class talent but all guys who could stand up for themselves too. A real embodiment of Ferguson

Still to this day his technical qualities are often overlooked. Clips you see of him posted these days are often only of him shouting, snarling and launching himself into tackles.

Technically he was a sound player. He could do everything a centre-midfield’s job entailed really well. 8/10 in every department…Had a good passing range, Good tackler, Could strike a ball well, good football Intelligence…

In his physical prime around 1996-2001 he was world class. No question. He was a force of nature. There weren’t many better than him in his position back then.

And this was the 'softer' Crazy Gang.

The first half hour of this encounter was like Vietnam limbs flying everywhere

hey thanks for posting this, I actually went to this game (its the 1-1 game right?) with my Everton supporting mates. When Yorkie scored I jumped up and celebrated, then had about 3,000 scousers in the adjacent stand chatting "sit down wanker" or something like that, and got loads abuse for the rest of the game. They equalised at the same end and I got more abuse then too. It's was all in good spirits though.

I remember on the drive home we had a disagreement about Keano, my mates saying he was anonymous but I thought he was MOTM!

Really dislike footballers like that and the neanderthals that cheer it on. Don't get me wrong I love tough players and a hard tackle but that's just stone age stuff. A load of pretend tough guys trying to mask a lack of talent

Yep, 1-1. Watching the game recently I thought his touch and awareness were immense and his passing was excellent as usual. Everton were obviously trying to wind him up but he gave as good as he got. Love the bit where he was gonna thump Nick Barmby but restrained himself :D

Fergie must have drummed it into the lads that night not to lose their cool and react. Really wasn’t like Keane and Cantona to walk away from challenges like that normally.

Also - I love that fecking team so much.
