If we didn't believe in Henderson taking the number one spot this year, he should have gone on loan again. The handling of the keeper situation is just a bit baffling.

What do people think would be a fair price for Henderson?

And then as a comparison, what kind of price do we think we could get for De Gea?

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

If we had no intention of him being number 1 we should have sold him with a buy back like other clubs do. Same with Axel and Brandon. Maybe we could actually complete the never ending rebuild and bring in the 4 players needed then.

Please not Varane,he's another Chris Smalling.
Smalling could never have won 4 CLs and a World Cup. I'm not saying I'm massively in favour of Varane joining us but it's ridiculous to say he's another Chris Smalling. This is a man who has won it all playing for one of the most high profile, highly scrutinised teams in world football.

We might get £30m for Henderson I suppose - there is talent there, but we'd need to put him in the shop window a lot in the remainder of the season.

I doubt anyone would pay us money for De Gea. You wouldn't rank him in the top 20 keepers in Europe, but he's earning £375k per week and still has 2.5 years to run on his contract.

That is the issue.

If we could get even a relatively small fee (£20/25 million-ish) for De Gea I’d be happy with moving him on and promoting Henderson.

Just becomes difficult when we’re in a potentially Sanchez-esque situation instead.

We should make Henderson number 1 from the start of next season, selling him would be idiotic.

Just what we need.
We dont have one right now. Hes 2 years younger than Martial and has almost scored as many goals as him now. Hes also tall and has good pace. Theres a real tendency on here to dismiss anyone who isnt top 3 in the world in his position which is just foolish. Hes a better striker than we have and thats pretty obvious.

Why on Earth we'd contemplate selling one of our best academy graduates in recent years, I don't know. De Gea is on a downward spiral. Yes, he's been great for us, has a decent game now and again but his overall trajectory is obvious and we've got a very capable replacement waiting in the wings, desperate to be no.1 at United. As other people have mentioned, I doubt anyone could afford De Gea at our valuation plus his wages, so best option would be a swap deal. PSG would be interested, but I'd imagined he'd want to go back to Spain. Trouble is, who needs him and can afford him there? Madrid, Barca and Atletico all have top keepers. Then he'd have to look at Sevilla, Real Sociedad, etc., but he might think it's a bit of step down and we'd probably have to subsidise part of his wages.

Why would Real want to sell one of the best defenders in world football?
He's got a year left on his contract and won't sign a new one because Real are trying to get everybody to take a 10% paycut due to the pandemic, at a time when Varane would probably be looking for the biggest deal of his career, coming into what are typically a defenders prime years?

I agree you shouldn't disregard players not in the top three. But Abraham is a budget striker. He is very, very poor and has massive amounts of chances generated for him.

Sorry but 2 years and 3 months and yes I’d say he’s certainly in top 20 in Europe.

Can't see that in all honesty. Has to be in the top 10.

Could be a variety of reasons in this Covid hit world. He could be affected by injuries but the evidence over the last few years is that he hasn't been more prone than anyone else.
But to say he's Chris Smalling is ridiculous

There's lowering our standards as a club, and then there's touting Tammy Abrahams as the ideal new striker for Manchester United.
I didnt say 'ideal'. Ideal costs us 100m. We could afford Abraham along with other signings. Hed reliably score goals here too.

He's utter shite. His technique is up there with Lukaku.
Agree. Awful player, awkward and wasteful.

I couldn’t believe it when I was told he was banging them in for Championship sides, whenever I’ve watched him, including the championship, he’s looked terrible.

Best I’ve seen him was against us I think, under Lamps.

Why would PSG be interested do you think? There's literally no indication of that and I haven't even really heard that they are on the lookout for a new keeper.

No way are Chelsea signing both Haaland and Sancho. We certainly can’t just sit back and let that happen either, we have to make serious attempt to sign one of those.
It's BS. They don't have that type of money. Forget about the made-up Abrahamovic money coming back into the club. Man has bigger problems than that.

He's 83rd in Europe's top 5 leagues for save % (Courtois, Ederson, Oblak, Emi Martinez are top among keepers with 20+ games), 64th for PSxG+/- (a measure of how good a keeper is at stopping shots - Martinez, Areola, Pope, Oblak are top), 128th at stopping crosses into the penalty area (Pope, Oukidja, Areola, Ledesma are top) and 124th for defensive actions outside the penalty area (Sergio Herrera, Neuer, Gulacsi, Alisson and Pope are top).

Granted, De Gea has never been any good at claiming crosses or coming off his line to sweep in behind, but he was always near the top in shot stopping metrics. His decline in that area is fairy stark and the rest of his game is not strong enough to make up for it. I honestly don't know how anyone can rank him among the top 10 keepers in Europe at this stage in his career.

This whole Tweet focuses more on Varane's Madrid situation rather than United necessarily setting up a deal for him. I find it weird that Luckhurst would claim MEN's own sources when the whole article reads like something from other articles/reports in the past.

United are only mentioned here because of Woodward leaking out that he wanted Varane in 2018 and our current defensive situation.

I’ve heard from Manchester United and Brighton in England. In Italy it is Parma, Inter and Bologna. ÖSK, Norrköping, Malmö, IFK Göteborg, Häcken and Sirius in Sweden and then Copenhagen and Bröndby in Denmark.

First of all, there is interest, but I have contract offers from some of them. There are other offers that also attract. There are very different offers and if you go to Italy, you have to go far from home. At the same time, the conditions there are insanely good.

Obviously I’d prefer Haaland or Kane but Tammy is a good all round actual proper number 9, good In the air too with a decent turn of pace. He’d be a cheaper alternative to DCL for example

Jonas Hofmann:
Basically, I feel good at Borussia; I’ve always emphasised that. It may be that one or the other club has expressed its interest. Nevertheless, for me, the absolute focus is on having a successful season with Borussia and dedicating myself fully to success. I put my personal situation under it.

[On the Chelsea links] I think it’s clear that other clubs will notice you if you perform well. Therefore, it is possible that one or the other has already asked.
