This is very interesting, if the reports are true then Inter owes us around 51 million immediately as they failed to pay the bonus after triggering the clause related to Lukaku transfer.

So ManUtd have asked for Skriniar or Lautaro Martinez to settle the deal.

What happens if they can’t pay?

Getting Skriniar would go a long way towards enhancing the summer budget to buy a striker or right winger as long as they were not counting on the Inter money for that.

Wasn't there a similar issue when we sold Stam to Lazio?

I remember reading something about how it took ages to get the full fee from them, and eventually it took seelling him on to Milan to settle with us.

Might explain the rumours they're trying to sell him to City...not sure I can see that happening though myself.

Lautaro and Phil Jones straight swap. Or else we’ll take it to court.

Surely this is nonsense?

I think I'd prefer Hakimi tbh.

they're owned by chinese billionaires, I don't think it's an issue with funding - more that they're being tight and trying to hang onto every penny.

From what I’ve read Corriere della sport (the paper this was published in) is a very very poor source. Let’s see if it gets reported anywhere more reliable.

If Inter decide to give us Martinez or Skriniar I will give everyone in this thread £100.

As if that’s going to happen

Didn’t the Chinese team they own go bankrupt some days ago?
I think the owners are very well funded but decided to close down operations and focus on their core business. The Chinese team are the current champions btw.

You are definitely correct:

Earlier this month, Suning owner Zhang Jindong said the group would cut back on non-retail activities after a difficult year in which revenues had been hit by COVID-19.

“We will focus on retail business and close and cut down our businesses that are not connected to businesses,” he said.

This will surely also effect Inter.

Isn't Lautaro supposed to be excellent whereas Skriniar didn't live up the hype? Some caftards felt the latter was one of the best CB talents around.

It makes sense though. Lukaku`s fee was structured to be paid over a period of 5 years not everything up front and there were indeed bonuses included in the deal(as per the English and Italian press at the time Inter signed him) COVID has hit them pretty hard and Italian clubs are naturally stingy its not unrealistic to think there`s some truth to this

Have they not been looking to sell for a while?

Lautaro is piss poor, Skriniar not that good. We should go for Barella.

Or indeed Lukaku :nervous:

I mean they have to pay us up one way or another or we can easily take them to court on valid grounds. The same court could well still decide that a player is used to settle the debt if straight cash cannot be offered even if its not Lautaro or Skriniar

Apparently so, first i'd heard of it.

I guess COVID has hit them hard - just shows nobody is safe.

In China, it’s also a matter of the Chinese League prohibiting teams of (being forced to) taking the names of corporate owners. Hail to them for that!

With the national PR spending party (no pun intended) culled, several teams struggle to readapt, like Fellaini’s Shandong Luneng as well.

United will deal with this in the only way they know how. By fecking it up.

Well either agree to take Lukaku back or sign Skriniar who doesn’t solve any of our defensive issues
