Since United has had a rock solid starting 11 and good backups at every position since Ole started as manager, I don't see how anyone can defend him. Ole was handed a team ready to contend for not only the league, but the CL as well
Best WUM today.

I keep seeing people say the football is much better than Mou/LVG which is true it certainly is but that isn’t hard to achieve when the bar was set at rock bottom, it was anti football. Are we playing the sort of football I want to see from United? No not at the moment but that could change with a few key additions to the team, I’ll reserve my judgement until next season that’ll be make or break for Ole.

We all love United
Does Andy Cole want to manage United and play the style of football we or he thinks we should be playing?

Almost every pundit maybe aside Ferdinand of the previous United players has said this. It doesn't mean the manager should be sacked but it means that this team will have a ceiling under Ole's management. I cannot see us attaining any European success / domestic cup success considering how badly the team imposes itself in games. I actually favour us to get a league title more than knockout cup success given this circumstance.

Statistics doesn't attribute for the fact that throughout large periods of games the players cannot string a few passes together, turn over possession with unforced errors, no proper movement off the ball (especially against teams that sit). The team has no identity whatsoever. Saying we play better football than Mourinho / LVG is a weak thesis because the same can be said for someone like Graham Potter, does it then justify that he's capable of managing Barcelona absolutely not it's a meaningless comparison.

I don't think its realistic to expect us to go all out attack against the better sides, and the idea we did under Sir Alex is also a load of invented rubbish. SAF would play Rooney almost as a second fullback in big games and then stick Park on the other wing as another extra defensive work horse. We'd basically have one forward and at places like Anfield would have about 3 attacks a half.

The difference is the plan would still be to win the game. The problem I have with our performances like the one on Sunday is that we actually seem quite happy not to win the game. Or we seem to lack the belief that we really can.

Chelsea away, Liverpool away, Arsenal away, even City at home, were all winnable games. I didn't think there was too much wrong with the initial set up or tactics, but then as the games went on and the spaces actually started to appear, we seem almost uninterested in taking advantage of it. As if we think we're already sitting on a 1-0 lead.

I mean on Sunday we basically just gave up on trying to win completely. It feels like we're scared we'll lose it instead.

Next: Andy Cole's 'that's now how you make a cup of tea'

Andy Cole concerned by tea lady's philosophy of putting the milk in before the tea.
 I was gonna ask if I was the only person who read the title like it was the name of a game show

Cole did have the tiny benefit of playing alongside some of Europe's best creators at the time.

Somebody needs to tell him he has more pressing concerns closer to home. @Schmeichel's Cartwheel knows Tesco workers better than his son!

These posts don't really help. Very few managers, let alone ex players are cut out to manage a club of United's stature. Doesn’t mean they can't have an opinion on our brand of football or results like any fan would.

Let's mix it up a bit. Given this is an Andy Cole thread, who is the best Cole to have ever played football? Joe, Andy, Ashley, Carlton, Seamus Coleman...

it’s a fair point. Frankly it’s just an obvious observation. You need to score goals in games to win the league? Thanks Michael Owen. Not having a go at Cole.

but we were never going to challenge or win the league this year.

we are evolving. Hopefully setting the platform to challenge next season. We all know we need some improvements in order to do so.
Bolded part is what I think alot of people seem to forget. Our priority was improvement and champions League places. Season turned out as it did and now we are labeled 'not champion material' because we arn't pressuring City? Bearing in mind, teams that should of been considered challengers are wavering behind us.
We are right on track and next season will be the one to determine where this team can really go.

The way I read the quotes, he is essentially saying that our current formula doesn't lead to success and that we need to improve and involve in order to be successful. People are being defensive for no good reason because he is right and that's independent of Ole or what someone make think of him. No one actually think that we could just repeat the exact same things next season and be actual contenders.

For some people (and definitely the media) this is true. Personally I never thought we'd win the league, not even when we got top spot. There were too many flaws in our performances even up to that point. My only ambition for this season was for us to improve and look like we're heading in the right direction. But have we improved? I honestly don't think we have.

The signings we made in the summer have been ineffectual so far (unless you're feeling generous and saying that Shaw's performances are down to the signing of Telles), and Martial, Greenwood and Rashford have all had disappointing seasons.

Came out of Roti Chai in London this afternoon and I ran into Andy Cole. What a lovely man. Stopped to say hi to me. Wish I got a picture. He stood in front of me and I turned to my fiancé and said look, that man is history!! What a legend. So sad I didn’t ask for a picture. Devastated:(

‘You can’t play like that’: Andy Cole ‘concerned’ by Manchester United’s style under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole has expressed his frustration at his old side’s style of play under ex-team-mate Ole gunnar Solskjaer

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...cole-ole-gunnar-solskjaer-style-b1810139.html
He has a right to his opinion. And I’m sure he’s just saying what he sees. Andy Cole has bigger things to worry about than being a childish troll.

Do you not think it's a bit rude to call a living person history as you talk about them in the 3rd person in front of their face?

I thought all ex players are Ole friends and won't say anything against him? Well one more thing people randomly made to support their agenda.
Main "problem" is that regular pundits Paul, Gary, Keano and Rio are on his side. And they do huge PR stuff for their teammate. So it is not agenda. Don't use one random quote to downplay what other pundits are saying 2,5 years

Yeah that are doing his PR stuff when ole even had a go at Scholes and I think Hargreaves.

Just because they believe in manager doesn't mean they are doing PR work. Gary Neville went on a rant when it looked like Jose was getting sack and publicly had a go at players to save the toxic one, was he doing PR for him too?

If Scholes is doing PR work then he is very poor at it, questioning Ole methods and mentality multiple times on TV. Maybe he won't get paycheck from now on.
