What kind of progress are we talking about?
I think he cleaned up the squad a bit and got rid of some mediocre players although he bought his fair share of average players too. Either way it's positive improvement I think.
He is not shitting on the players/club unlike our previous manager so it's progress too I suppose.
But the actual progress on the pitch? I think that's where we struggle to progress in whatever way you look at it.
We still struggle to beat low block, just like 2 years ago.
We still struggle to have a solid performance throughout a game. Our typical performance is be crap for majority of the game, have a good 15-20 min spell and hope it will be enough to win the game. Apart from Southampton and Leeds games I honestly can't remember the game we won comfortably and convincingly so no progress here too.
His in game management is getting worse in each game. I honestly haven't seen a manager so unwilling to change things during the game. He might as well watch the game from the sofa at home, he does nothing during games anyway.
Points wise there is no progress either. We are still on track of basically the same amount of points we had last year.
The less we speak about our progress playing against big teams the better. 0 wins and 1 goal (and that from pen) in 7 matches is shocking.
I just cannot see any progress on the pitch. Maybe just me.
This place was awash of people talking about a title challenge and pushing City all the way a month or so ago so excuse me if I find the quick turnaround quite amusing.
If you look at goals scored, goals per game, points per game etc. We're up on all of those year on year since Ole took over, it's a clear indication on a team moving in the right direction.
The players have all (mostly) improved under him, whether that's him or the coaching staff it's hard to say, probably a combination but Fred was done, Rashford has been great, Pogba is looking good again and instead of needing 10 new players it seems we probably only need about 3 now.
Performances are a concern but for me, when I look at that first 11 today, there is nothing in midfield behind Bruno that offers any sort of creativity, and you can blame Solskjaer for setting up that but there still isn't enough real quality without Pogba in there. Fred and McTomminay can't see the runs like he can. If you throw Grealish and Pogba in there we win this game with ease tonight.
I agree with the game management at the moment, it doesn't look like he's willing to take risks. Could be because of the backlash after the Spurs defeat and he doesn't trust the defence. Could be that he knows his contract is up soon and he wants to secure a top 4 position so a draw is better than a loss when the season is as random as this one seems to be.
We have played some of the best football post Fergie under Solskjaer also, but we haven't been consistent enough. I think with a better first 11 we will find that but it isn't going to happen this season. We need Pogba and Cavani back fit before we get playing anything looking decent.
