Pogba in his first years was so immensely talented and seemed destined for greatness, as does Bellingham, but in Pogba's case I think it's his mentality that won't allow it.

I remember when Pogba and Lukaku joined United they did an interview together, and I really liked Lukaku. Pogba on the other hand in that interview came across as an immature retard. Not just saying dumb things, as a lack of intelligence can be forgiven, but he was actually saying dumb things thinking they were cool. And that at age 23. Back then I already suspected he wouldn't reach his potential.

Bellingham on the other hand doesn't seem to have that characteristic, but things can change. I think he'll be alright.
Any examples? Genuine question.

Called up to the England senior squad. Ward-prowse is injured. Jude is being rewarded for some great performances. Congrats to him

Anyone else become a little fearful when really young players get called up?
Hes looked very good for bvb to be fair. And it's great for young players to be around the senior squad as much as possible. He wont get many minutes if any at all, but it'll be good for him.

His call-up will mostly be due to him already being with the U21s. He's been great for Dortmund but when there are replacements during international duty, they usually look at who is with the U21 team first as they're already with the squad. Don't expect to see much, if any, of him this international break. Won't be long before he does make his full debut though at the rate he's progressing.

Hopefully England retire the number he wears.

Shouldn't he be pretty close to a call up anyway, given England's lack of quality in CM?

Yes with Henderson, Rice, Winks, Phillips (Injured) and Ward-Prowse (Now injured).

Like i have said in a other thread "Camavinga was 17 too (Since a few hours he is 18) and i reckon no one in France had a problem with that because he is a special talent......the same goes for Bellingham".

Him but not Grealish? madness.
If this keeps happening then Southgate has to lose his job.

Its clear then he has some sort of agenda or is unable to see a difference form of football similar to the reason he only seems to choose pickford in goal after seeing mistake after mistake.

I'd hate Grealish to be a player I'd never get to see in England properly like Scholes or Carrick due to some idiot of a manager.

How has he been playing this season?
He's been in and out of the team. From the 17 league games he has played in 13 games, 8 as a starter. While he played in all 6 games in the UCL, 4 as a starter. He has around 1,000 minutes and has provided 3 assists.

Fair to say Dortmund is struggling at the moment.

It really needs to be reiterated that he is 17. Those really are excellent numbers for a kid’s breakthrough season in a big league whatever way you look at it.

Also stats should be judged somewhat relative to overall team form. A poorly functioning Dortmund side is going to diminish his chances of putting up bigger numbers. Conversely, the poorer Dortmund are the more impressive his current stats are.

Totally agree mate, even being in the squad is a great achievement for a 17 year old. But for all the hype he produced the expectations were higher, but damn he arrived there just after turning 17, its really unfair to demand more from him at this moment.

I am hoping Mejbri can make the transition to senior football so we don’t need to worry about signing this guy for 70-80milloon which is invariably what they will ask for.

18 League appearances (904 minutes) and played in all 7 of Dortmund's CL matches (427 minutes). And still not 18. That's phenomenal experience for such a young player. Can't imagine we would have given him anything close to those minutes.

For sure, we could never have given him 7 CL games.

Yeah but burnout, bulk up, too-much-too-soon, ease him in and for the experience.

Have I missed any out? :D

Seems to be having a good season for Dortmund considering his age. Playing in the CL knockouts at 17 is an achievement in and of itself. Hopefully he'll develop into a complete midfielder.

He was outstanding last night, both defensively and in attack. 17 playing central midfield?! Wow!!! What a player he’s going to be, England are very lucky to have him. Fortunately Haaland gets all the attention so Bellingham gets to sneak under the radar a bit. But I think Bellingham is going to be a superstar as well.

People say Farmers league but they werent saying that when we wanted to throw 100m on a player from the same team. Strange cause there is also a centre forward from the same team that's broken a CL record from the very same farmers league too....

Crazy how mature he is for his age, close to mindblowing really. Love watching him play. He's definetly at the right place to keep developing and getting better.

It’s also a league that has had the same winner 8 years in a row. Everyone knows why it’s called a farmers league.

People get hung up on age, Bellingham will improve with experience but aside from that I believe he's just started his career earlier and may well regress earlier than the norm.

Or, he may put up Gareth Barry numbers.

I think historical evidence would favour the former.

......and the very team absolutely blew the other teams away in Europe last year and will probably do the same this year. CL must be a Farmers cup comp too. If that club was in our league, you think they wouldn't be winning it too.....
