More than anyone I want Sporting's manager Rúben Amorim to replace Ole.
I’d like Goncalves! We need a player with big calves... the other one at Villa will cost too muchMore than anyone I want Sporting's manager Rúben Amorim to replace Ole.
Come along way since getting knocked out of EL qualification by Basaksehir after leading 3-1 at the start of the seasonTiago Tomás (18) with the winning goal for Sporting today!
3 points closer to the coveted league title!
-Nuno Mendes and Gonçalo Inácio were brilliant
- Daniel Bragança was the difference maker the moment he came in
Game winning goal by TT
That was last season mate.Come along way since getting knocked out of EL qualification by Basaksehir after leading 3-1 at the start of the season
Sorry yeah don’t know what I was thinking, should of looked it up instead of trying to remember it off the top of the head . But at least that proves my point even more going out to LASK then winning the league it’s been a pleasantly great season and like most United fans I like sporting so I’m chuffed for you and the clubThat was last season mate.
We got bounced by LASK in the playoffs. We didn’t make it into Europa this season.
Appreciate it mate! Ya the LASK game was a freak result, the game was closer then the result showed.Sorry yeah don’t know what I was thinking, should of looked it up instead of trying to remember it off the top of the head . Would be very interested to hear your thoughts on Pedro Porro.Congratulations to Nuno Mendes, João Palhinha, and Pedro Porro who have all received there first senior call ups to both Portugal and Spain respectively. Very much deserved for the stellar seasons they are having.
Attacking wise he is fantastic, able to beat a man, has a good cross on him and can score some wonder goals as well. He is good striker of the ball. Defensively he has been solid but at times inconsistent. His fierce attitude reminds me of South American players and he celebrates a block of defensive stop as loud as a goal.Would be very interested to hear your thoughts on Pedro Porro.
Thanks very much for the info... looks like a great prospect.Attacking wise he is fantastic, able to beat a man, has a good cross on him and can score some wonder goals as well. His fierce attitude reminds me of South American players and he celebrates a block of defensive stop as loud as a goal.
Additionally he never stops running all game. He can play 120 without complaining and he leaves it all on the pitch.
Short answer is I hope sporting use the clause and buy him off of City. Only 21so still room to better himself but he is a key player in our team.
There is only one Jewel in football, Paul Jewell.
Thanks for the post mate, I like what you have to say about Daniel Braganca and will look out for him.Hi guys. Another Sporting fan here!
Sory for the long post.
After reading this thread I need to say that we we have to be a little careful when we call a player as "jewel".
Of course these players that @SportingCP96 mentioned are players in whom we see many qualities and who we hope will have a great international career.
But there is always a possibility that the player doesn't develop as expected or that he doesn't adpt to the new club when he transfers to another league.
We have several examples. Recently in SCP with João Mário. 40M transfer to Inter and never reached the level he had in Sporting,
or João Felix from Benfica. 120M but is a "flop" in Atl. Madrid.
But, although we need to be calm when we place too much expectation on a player, it is indisputable that sporting has a "batch" of young talents like they haven't had in a long time.
I'm just going to talk a little bit about the ones I think might make a great international career.
Nuno Mendes (18y) Is a powerfull left wing
At this age, he as just been called up to Portugal first team.
He is considered to be one of the most promising players in the world, and the most promissing Left Winger. He is already being in the buing list of the biggest European clubs.
There is a rumor that the closest they are to signing him is Real Madrid who see him as "the new" Marcelo.
But recently news appeared that Man City is interested and the deal could happen for 60M + Pedro Porro in definitive tranfer.
Goncalo Inácio (18y) skilled Center Back
He started the season as the team's 5th center back. With the Eduardo Quaresma's covid infection, he ended up having some minutes when he replace our older center back Neto and ended up doing good games every time he play.
Throughout the season he showed that he is a strong central defender, with speed, vision and great technique in passing. If you watch his videos, you can see that whenever he makes long passes to his teammates, he rarely misses.
He ended up also winning the place to Neto and at this moment he is a starter with all the merit.
I can't say if he will continue to evolve and become a top central defender, but with 18 years old he shows that he can become one of the best Portuguese central defenders in the future.
Eduardo Quaresma (18y) Strong center Back
Considered by Sporting structure as the most promising central defender of Cristiano Ronaldo academy. We thought he would be a starter at the beginning of the season, but covid19 changed that. He lost his place to Neto, who then also lost his place to G. Inácio.
Edu Quaresma is a strong central defender who isn't afraid to go out with the ball at his feet, that is, he's the type of central defender that grabs the ball in defence and takes it in control to the midfield until he releases it to a more advanced team player. Strong in marking and anticipation.
He still has a lot to grow, especially in mentality. It is said that he has some problems with commitment in training.
If he manages to change the chip, we believe that together with Inácio, they will be the next duo of the Portuguese national team.
João Palhinha (25y) Strong bal-winning central defensive midfielder
At the beginning of the season he was about to leave for 15M. But with the transfer of Idrissa Doumbia, Ruben Amorim (Sporting's coach) asked to our team manager to keep Palhinha. And thanks god for that!
He's the anchor of the team. A ball recoverer by nature. Statistics say that he has a percentage of about 90% of balls recovered per game.
Like Nuno Mendes, he will have his firt international apperance for Portugal nacional team.
Pedro "Pote" Goncalves (22y) Attacking Midfielder
Last season, when he was still at Famalicão FC, he was already considered by many as the best player in the outside league 3 top clubs.
We signed him to replace Bruno Fernandes and he had an immediate impact. In the first 10 games he scored 10 goals, an average of 1 goal per game which for a midfielder is excellent.
At this moment, in 23 games in the league, he has 15 goals.
Sometimes he still "hides" from the game and he himself has already admitted that. But he's the type of player that at any moment gets the ball and scores a goal.
It's inevitable that comparisons are made with Bruno Fernandes, but they are different players. Bruno, besides scoring goals, also made the team play. With Pote it's not like that.
He is a very good player, but he is not, for now, an irreplaceable player.
Anyway, he is a player for bigger clubs than Sporting, and a transfer of 50M +/- will be fair.
Daniel Bragança (21y) Box to Box Center Midfielder
Daniel hasn't had many minutes, it's true, but every time he comes into the game, the team changes. I
This is because every time Daniel enters the game, Sporting scores, and some of them, are goals that lead to victory.
He is a Box to box central midfielder who comands the game, with a phenomenal vision of the game and an axcelent passing ability. I don't think I've ever seen him fail a pass.
We say that he has feet of wool and the ball never creis at his feets.
In my personal opinion, Daniel will be the next "big thing" and I see enough quality in him to be one of the best centre midfielders in the future.
Mark my words.
Tiago Tomas (18y) Complet Forward
Tiago is a very mobile striker who can also play on the wings or in support of more positional striker.
He has a lot of speed and technique, which makes him win a lot of free-kicks per game.
Statistically, and at this moment, only Neymar has a higher average of fouls earned per game than Tiago.
Another statistic of Tiago is that after his goal against Tondela, he reached the sixth goal in his debut year in the main squad and is already the youngest in this century to score so many goals in a single season.
He has now overtaken Ronaldo, who at the age of 17 had (2002/03) scored five goals in 31 games. In 2001/02 Quaresma had scored five goals at the age of 18. Nani scored six goals but was already 19 years old.
Thanks for the detailed post.Hi guys. Another Sporting fan here!

Thanks mate. For me, he is the most talented "kid" in our team. Its true that he have not many minutes but is because we have João Mario and only 1 can play in that position. Thanks for the post mate, I like what you have to say about Daniel Braganca and will look out for him.
Ya Bragança is in my top 3 prospects on this team. He is not a box to box midfielder though. He is a little maestro in midfield. Thanks for the post mate, I like what you have to say about Daniel Braganca and will look out for him.
Defenition of Box-toBox palyer:Ya Bragança is in my top 3 prospects on this team. He is not a box to box midfielder though. He is a little maestro in midfield.
Nuno Mendes, Inácio, and Bragança Will be big time IMO.
He isn’t...Defenition of Box-toBox palyer:
A box-to-box player is a term used to describe a hard-working midfielder who makes his presence felt in all four corners of the football pitch as well as the attacking and defending.
A box-to-box player runs forward when his/her team is on the attack and more importantly, runs back to defend and provides a shield for the back four defenders. The box-to-box midfielder can do it all. Score goals and tackle the opposition.
@SportingCP96 tell me if Brangança is not a player like this...
Ok, I see your point and agree with... Ruben Amorim uses Bragança in a "mastro" role, but...He isn’t...
He is not a guy who drops back and protects the back 4. So no I would not describe him as both an attacking player and a defensive player. He does not run forward and more importantly run back as a box to box player would.
Think of guys like Ndombele, Renato, sissoko etc. Those guys are examples ofplayers who are box to box midfielders.
Braganca is a guy who keeps possession well and controls the tempo of the game. Just look at what Amorim says whenever he brings him and is asked about him he says “ precisávamos de mais bola, alguém que consegue segurar a bola no meio camp” or a guy who in a close game won’t give up possession cheaply and make the right plays.
He is not charging forward to score goals or get in dangerous opportunities and he is not rushing back to defend and do a last minute tackle. I think you may have your term confused.
He is a maestro type of guy, a “luka modric, Iniesta type of guy” (I am not saying he will be as good as those guys cause it’s too early) but those are similar style players
Hehe. How much would it cost to just buy a majority stake in the club? Nit pick all their best talent. £200m-ish?
Based strictly from the video provided by SCP_PT, I think the Modric comp is very close. He isn’t...

Yea that is the 16 year old Dario EssugoIs that the 16 year old?
That's a truly a wonderful clip.
It’s so hard not to feel so connected to this team. The spirit, the fight, the unity, all these young academy kids.Second 1-0 win in a row with a 19 year old youth product scoring. If we win the league, this one will feel better than any title I could have imagined us winning. The amount of kids and youth products we play week after week is ridiculous.
Playing someone who was 15 years old a week ago in a game like this is the best possible answer to having players missing due to Covid.
He has been doing great for the youth teams and trained with the first team many times. Will be interesting to follow how Sporting are doing the next couple of seasons, lots of talent it seems
How is Nicolai Skoglund doing, do you know? I follow most norwegian talents, but I have only read one article about him and I know he is a forward and remember him scoring a couple of goals for the a-team vs the reserves or something last year.
Skoglund? Should have been playing more for us in the under 23's but the coach is crap. Still young, don't know if it is from the 2003 or 2004 generation, so he still has time to develop. Anyway, it's not normal for kids from Norway to go into Portuguese Academies. As I can remember coming from other European countries, only Dier reached the first team, and of course Lindelof for Benfica also had his chance. Will be interesting to follow how Sporting are doing the next couple of seasons, lots of talent it seems

You know what I discovered today? Tiago Fernandes (Manuel son) was saying today when Bruno Fernandes still played there was watching one game from the under 17's or 19´s and after watching Gonçalo Inácio playing with his left foot turned to him and said "This is the next Mathieu coming from the Academy".Second 1-0 win in a row with a 19 year old youth product scoring. Sorry it's a little confusing. Bruno said "This is the next Mathieu coming from the Academy"?You know what I discovered today? Of course a bit of overreaction, but still shows Fernandes has a good eye for spotting talent. We don't play great football, but at least we have someone who isn't afraid of playing young players on the first 11.
Jeremy Mathieu, he played for us when he left Barcelona (I know he wasn't consistent there) but he was a good player. Mathieu didn't came from the Academy of course.Sorry it's a little confusing. Bruno said "This is the next Mathieu coming from the Academy"?
And who is Mathieu?
Thanks.
