Possibly stupid question but is there a way of seeing which Pokémon you have lots of candy for ie close to evolving?

I struggle keeping tabs on which Pokémon are close to evolution.
If you go into the pokemon section and tap on the search bar filters will appear and there's a tab for 'can evolve'.

Ran out of pokeballs for this event. But im satisfied enough.
When the game first came out, I gave all of mine daft nicknames. Rick Gastly was one of my favourites. Others were Spike Bee (Beedrill)and Bill Oddish. In fact, daft nicknames is pretty much the only reason I do nuzlocke runs on the main games.

Walking around I saw barely any beldums, sat at home I caught a bunch and got my shiny. I don't get this game.
Did you use an incense?

So how often do you guys fail catching a legendary after a raid?

Tried to get Thundurus, I messed up 2 throws but the other 9 throws were great/excellent, used a golden razz each time and couldn't catch it :(

It's happened to me twice, I need to start being fined every time I miss a throw on a legendary though.

Often when I first started them. Less often now, although Zapdos fled on me the other week. Sometimes it doesn't seem to matter how many times you hit them with an excellent curveball to the face, they still get away!

Think I've missed four or five. Like Ed said above, you can do everything right but it can still escape.

These recent three legendaries have some of the most dull shinies in the game, so I've not not bothered to try for them. Fletchling was a poor choice for community day too. I like a drastic difference in my shinies like Charizard for example.

Managed to get Therian Thundurus without much problems.

Remember - the Therian versions can't be shiny right now in Pokemon Go, so don't bother hunting for one.

I'm not sure if it was luck or they gave me it for doing the nosepass challenges.

The luckiest shiny encounter I've had is Charmander.
Nah, it's just luck. I did all the challenges to and must have had 100 or more Nosepass encounters since they released the shiny.

Ah ok I guess I really am lucky. On the other hand with the beldum challenge I got really shit ones despite catching 30 or so and not a single shiny.

And on the other hand, I caught 7 100% Fletchling on community day and none of those were shiny! Caught plenty of shite shinies though.

I just started this up yesterday for the first time since 2017. I'm level 35 apparently, I think 40 was max when I quit. I'm not sure if I'll keep it up, but I'm having fun for now. It seems like the new friend mechanic is pretty good xp, so if anyone wants a boost then 0634 3262 7535. Some random thoughts:

- This might be a local feature, but it seems like spawns have increased. I have a pokestop in my living room, which is very nice, but now there's a lot of pokemons as well.
- A lot of new pokemon, most of which I've never seen before. I'm very familiar with the first 251, and a bit with the crystal ones. I swear a lot of the new ones look alike, but that might be me being racist.
- Quests. This seems ok. They might get me to do stuff I wouldn't otherwise, unsure if that's a plus or a minus.
- Remote raids. I like it. None of my friends play, and I don't feel like hanging around with random people playing pokemon, so this might incentivise me doing some T5 or legendary raids once in a while. I don't plan on spending a lot of money, though.
- PvP. A lot of people always wanted that, so that's great, but personally I don't really care so unless it gives big PvE stuff I probably won't use it.
- Trading. Another thing people asked for, which is good, but I'm pretty sure my parents would prefer me meeting up with shady dealers for drugs.
- Team Rocket. This is fun, I enjoy it. I don't know what shadow pokemon and purification do yet.
- Mega evolutions. They're temporary. Any reason why I should care about this?
- XL candies. As I understand they're random drops for powering up beyond lvl 40. I haven't gotten any, unsure if just not lucky or if other requirements as well.

Added you.

Shadow pokemon, I suppose are just another thing to collect and they look cool. They're usually pretty useless. If you purify them they become slightly less useless.

Trading distance sometimes gets boosted to something like 25 miles during events, which means you don't have to meet random weirdos, although I've not met anyone too strange doing trades in real life.

PvP is optional, although sometimes they debut new pokemon as rewards for that. Eventually they tend to find their way to the regular game though.

Mega evolutions are just something else to tick off on the mega pokedex really, although mega Gyarados really helped me beat all the team rocket leaders at the weekend.

Shadow pokemon are the strongest in the game, so certainly not useless! Their attack is boosted by 20%, but also their defence reduced by 20%. Shadow Mewtwo for example is the strongest pokemon in the game, even if you get the worst IVs possible.

Coincidentally I only learnt this yesterday watching this video -
Basically any shadow pokemon at 0% IVs is better than the non-shadow version of the same pokemon at 100% IVs.

The downside is they cost more to power up.

Yeah, it's a bit weird as there is a medal for purifying Pokemon when it is actually better not to for attacks. I've got a few shadow Pokemon with high IVs that I'm waiting for the next event to come around that allows me to remove Frustration from them.

Still have my Shadow Mewtwo - 84%. Not great but better than a maxed out normal one.

All I'm using pokemon go lately is to log in to clear the daily quests and transfer pokemons to pokemon home.

Miss all the free legendaries they used to give out weekly for the research breakthrough.

Btw thanks for the posters who added/sent me gifts but I dont have any to return right now, currently self isolating away from pokestops.
That sucks man. Whats your screen name, have a plethora of gifts as I live near plenty, so will make sure I send you some.

Well, that shows how much I paid attention to this stuff! Literally never used a shadow pokemon for anything other than putting in a gym!

I'll have to go back and have a look at what I've got, and I suppose that explains why you go through all that trouble to get a shadow legendary from Giovanni, which always appears to be utter garbage.

As with most things in this game, Niantic make absolutely no attempt to make it clear!

https://leekduck.com/FindDitto/

Hopefully that helps, not sure how accurate it is, but says updated in Feb 2021 so should be pretty upto date.

Its purely just luck though that one of those changes into Ditto. So is just trying to catch them, and being lucky like with most things.

There was a task at one point that rewarded a ditto, but not sure if that was an event specific task or fromthe regular pool. I also cant remember what it was called. So i realise as I type, this isnt helpful
