We can't compete with City, but it would be disappointing to fall behind Chelsea again, even if they do have a good coach now.
Unfortunately I think there’s a good chance of that happening. We need at least 3 big first team signings to really kick on so you’re talking north of a £100m and I certainly can’t see that happening, not when the Glazers are taking out £60m loans to cover losses. I can see it being 2018 all over again.

The difference is City will spend £100m+ every summer whether they win the league or not and they have the luxury of writing off £50m signings like it’s nothing if they don’t work out and simply move on to the next target. we aren’t competing with that, certainly not while the Glazers are in charge. Liverpool were able to compete due to having one of the best managers in the world and luck in the sense that nearly every signing in his tenure has been a success. We don’t have that.
Yeah, I don't see that as luck. I see it as a combination of good scouting and good coaching. Nearly every signing working out should be the norm to be honest. The luck Liverpool had was Barca spending so much on Coutinho, and even that can be put down to good negotiation. Barca still had to be stupid enough to spend the money.

For us, for many years, it was nearly every signing not working out how it should. That's terrible.

The rest of your post isn't relevant. You can compete with City if you spend wisely and are a generally well run club with a top manager.

if we got ourselves in order, with the amount of money we spend, we should be competing for too honours again. But our fans are more likely to cede to City and say we don't have a divine right to even challenge for top honours.

This Tweet seems to be in response to a Gazzetta dello Sport article, which linked him to both Juventus and PSG alongside Barcelona. That article was describing how Juventus have a chance at signing him but need to be quick due to Barcelona's involvement. PSG were mentioned in passing and not necessarily strongly linked with him.

Norway manager Ståle Solbakken:
He has to change league now. Well, he has to. He does not have enough challenges in everyday life there. Therefore, I think he has got some habits, which you do not notice until he meets better opposition in international matches or Europe.

Independiente manager Julio Falcioni:
It would be a pleasure to coach him again. We’re calling him. We were talking with Yoyo, who’s going to call him to see if he feels like it. It’d be a pleasure to manage him again. Here he’ll not be able to sign something similar to what he earns there, but he’d be here again with friendly people, defending the colours that he wants.

The intention to call him will be to propose the return home, to the country, that he can be comfortable and help us to be a bigger Independiente. It’s a possibility, but in the face of proposals from Europe…He’s been abroad for many years, it’d be good may he be back with all his affections and help us to be a better team.

There's a lot wrong with this in my opinion. Saying "my player can play for top clubs" is one thing. Then saying pretty much, "feck the club I don't owe them shit" is another. You are seriously misled if you think that is 1) normal or 2) respectful. He's just a cnut and there's a reason he's disliked. It's not because he's just any agent, he's a cnut of an agent that clubs are best off avoiding.

Raiola tries to take clubs hostage and is a disrespectful agent. Talk all you want about him protecting clients, but he times his interviews generally at bad times. Such as the eve of a vital Champions League fixture. There is acting in the best interest of your client, and there is an element of burning bridges.

Raiola does the latter, and he's generally a problem to deal with. If more managers and clubs had the approach to Raiola as the likes of Pep/Klopp do, or say Bayern, we would see him squirm more. Also, it might be inevitable now as clubs spend less they might take a lot less shit from him now.

You can act on behalf of your player without being a disrespectful cnut trying to unsettle clubs chronically. That's not how agents should go about their business, so your opening line is pretty false with respect.
I don’t disagree that he is ‘disrespectful’ - I’m saying that in the grand scheme of things, who cares? Saying ‘feck the club, I don’t owe them shit’ is something many agents would not say, but will almost certainly be the premise from which all agents operate. And if they don’t, then their loyalty is probably misplaced. So ultimately, preferring to deal with other agents will not be because they seem to want to take less money for their client than Raiola, or are less concerned with their client’s wellbeing than Raiola - it would be simply down to them giving interviews or not. And for us, we can get sensitive about that stuff, but I don’t expect Manchester United to base their policy around that. And I’d be very disappointed if they did, as it is extremely small time and petulant.

Raiola has said as much more than once himself. ‘I just give my opinion. I doubt Manchester United or Paul Pogba care about my opinion’. And he’s right. Manchester United probably don’t care. It’s a transaction about the elements. The outrage at his allegedly unsettling comments is for the fans. Raiola said some words, Ole’s own relationship with Pogba didn’t seem affected by them, Pogba’s own performances haven’t been affected by them. Yet people outside have come out with drama queen declarations of ‘that player should never wear the shirt again’ etc based on them. I think it’s because we are not invested to the tune of tens of millions of pounds in these deals that fans are so caught up on the soap opera of it. I read the interview. Raiola said ‘I don’t give a feck if United (or any other club) don’t like me, I don’t work for them’. Fans are throwing toys due to that. It’s absolutely normal and expected. Ole may feel the same but he is in a different professional position and this wouldn’t say so publicly. At the end of the day, the clubs can and will still do business together. It’s not a social transaction. Fans get so worked up about Raiola. I’m almost certain he unsettles nobody except fans on the net with his comments. The club is bigger than him, and are probably getting shit from many agents at the same time, read negative quotes and articles everyday from various quarters. It’s part of being a giant entity. People with power recognise that. Of they didn’t the Glazers would have packed up and left years ago on the basis that some people don’t show them respect in public.

Clubs worth billions being ‘better off avoiding’ a football agent because he is essentially mouthy is laughable. Business is business. He can say what he likes, they won’t be bullied. And to his credit, neither will he it seems. So when all the pantomime is said and done, it all comes down to whether there is a deal to be made or not. You say there is a reason why clubs don’t like him, but there’s also a more obvious reason why clubs still do business with him, and that’s because when it’s time to be professional they can take the playground elements out of it.

The issue is the constant shit talking.
No one has forced the club to deal with Mino - he's playing the same game that many other agents are and his Clients obviously like him.

But, as with Lukaku, it's the constant nonsense that comes out of their mouths that many of us don't like.

It's fine if United have a good relationship with Mino, but if they don't, it's their own fault. We already knew what kind of agent he is.
That should be more of an issue for those who just talk about the business of football than it is for those who operate it.

They don’t need a ‘good relationship’ with Raiola. They only need to do business.

Happy to discuss in another thread but there is a lot of reason to ignore Raiola. 1) Being his disrespect which is actually negative marketing, and not worth the hassle 2) the chronic problems he causes even after they become a player for the club.
There are very well run clubs that do not rely on him, who have flourished in success. Moreover, there is nothing "drama queen" about it - he is causing issues and airing dirty laundry with disrespectful quotes (not just now, but worse quotes, in the past) at inopportune times.

That is categorically not the remit of an agent and it is not something "many agents would say". Because lets face it, many agents don't act like quite the dick Raiola is.

So, most of us fans then? Which is why most of us dislike him!

Would be Varane for me as it seems to be our highest priority and have been a fan for years
For me it’d be Sancho, to give us that desperately needed balance. Feel it’d have a multiplying effect on the whole attack, and spread the play.

If it has to be only 1 that's around £70m I say make it Ndidi.

Right fecking winger.
Also would vote for Sancho. I think the right wing is the most limited part of our team and that’s where we could maximise the improvement to be realised from a world class player.

Would he pass a medical with his feet being itchy? Remember Allison's poor performances for Liverpool on account of his cold feet? A major concern.
Who was the English keeper was the next big thing? Went to Liverpool and dropped something on his foot. Kirkland?

If Pep gets Haaland I doubt it matters what United do in the market for quite a while.

The best manager in the sport, a top class team, unlimited budget, plus a goal machine? Good luck

Would send us back a few years in the 'rebuild' but would also give Ole a great excuse for not challenging next season as he's said we will.

Good, I hope that's true. How the hell Barca could do that deal I've no idea, but oh well.
They 100% can’t afford 150 million plus half a million a week in wages. He must be taking a holiday there or tapping up a player...
