Pogba is a winner...he wants trophies.

Only way that's going to happen in the short term is if we get Rice, Sancho and Haaland....I imagine we will have a long saga before he goes to PSG Barca or Madrid, and we MIGHT end up with one of the three, probably Rice
Could have fooled me. He's not showed much of this so called winner's attitude in the last 5 seasons.

He's a supremely naturally talented footballer who simply phones in it far too many times a season. He's lazy at times, selfish and often frustrating. I don't doubt for a second he's probably got the most natural ability in our squad but I'd rather have somebody who has a little bit less and lot more of the other stuff needed like Bruno.

Let's think first before jumps into conclusion using fifa argument. What makes you think it won't work on football real life?
Have you forgotten who the owners are? Let’s use some common sense before putting out these ridiculous scenarios. Sancho is not happening and that message has already been put out there through various media links where we’re prioritizing a striker (naively Haaland) and CB. It was also clear last summer that the owners didn’t have the wherewithal to properly invest in the squad and add quality after a top 4 finish. We had a total spend of about £75 million. Kessie and Sancho combined could cost in the range of £130 to 140 million. Even with sales, financing a move for those 2 is a major stretch when we’re prioritizing other needs.

Kessie: why would we move for him?

Pogba is not going anywhere he’s just anchoring for a bigger contract, which he’ll probably get too.

Definitely Raiola playing his games and negotiating thru the media. I have no problem with it, since our owners won’t fund a like for like replacement for Pogba, so we might as well keep him.

I see, you are just another guy who lacks knowledge about this transfer market. Let me break this into three parts and you will understand why the scenario I put wasn't ridiculous but more realistic than yours.

First of all, where is this link shows we are prioritising striker and CB? So far, what we know is CB and attacker. And winger is in the category of attacker.

Second, Kessie only has 1 year left in his contract. This is common sense, signing a player who only has one year left in his contract with a dream to play for Man United is the easiest and most realistic ideal transfer. And if we use your logic about various media, lot of media already say that Sancho will cost so much cheaper this summer which common sense because Sancho will only have 2 years left in his contract.

Third, I can ask the same question. Have you forgotten who the owner is? What makes you think Kessie and Sancho combined will cost that much? In reality Sancho will cost cheaper than Haaland this summer, Kessie will cost cheaper than CB this summer. Buying those two is actually easier and cheaper than buying top class striker and CB. Knowing our owner, you should know which scenario they prefer.

You talk in absolutes as if your opinion and assessment of the transfer market holds any weight, it doesn’t. Be ready to be disappointed when the transfer fire sale you’re praying for doesn’t come to fruition.

Don't just call that randomly without explanation, I challenged you to explain why and counter those three points I made.

The fact that I have already expected our owner might not giving us money to buy CB and Haaland/top striker who are going to cost a lot and instead going for two other cheaper option than CB and Haaland is showing you how low my expectation on this transfer. Or rather, you should be ready to be disappointed just like our last summer because you need to expect something different and lower than what you read in news.

So is there anyone in this thread who is totally confident that if he left this summer that we would buy another creative CM, personally my gut feeling is that we will trial VDB there and hold out until next summer but hope I am wrong

I don't think we'd replace him like for like. I think we'd try buy a Sancho/Grealish/front 3 player plus a DM.

And we'd line up maybe with a single pivot.

That's assuming we got say £40-50m for him to fund that. I can certainly see a scenario where we sell Pogba and are still lining up with McFred, mind.

Who do you think offers more out of those two

Who are you trying to convince me or yourself? I think you’re view that we’ll buy Kessie and/or Sancho is nonsense and not grounded in reality based on our owners and our recent transfer history. You disagree, now move on.

And what makes you think buying top striker (Haaland) and CB who are more expensive makes more sense and grounded in reality based on our owners and our recent transfer history than the other one?

Think we would see a slight improvement by signing a Varane/Kounde and giving Amad a proper go on the RW, however get someone established in that position too and we have threats from both sides, in regards to Pogba leaving we would then have a major headache in creating anything through the middle.

If we use Giggsy13 logic, we shouldn't be expecting having big net spent because of our owner and we shouldn't be expecting both top CB and top attacker based on our transfer history.

I expect us to sign only one top quality player and potential for second if we sell Pogba, that is the most realistic than anyone can ever hope. In fact I wouldn't put too much expectation to sign Varane or Kounde honestly, they are more expensive than last summer's Upamecano and we chose not to spend the money to sign Upamecano last summer even though we had the money.

Yeah I do fear we only get an established player in one of those positions and CB looks more likely

Which wouldn't be the end of the world. If we somehow got a bit of money from the Pogba sale and added a few million of our own we could get Grealish to come in and play as a wide playmaker coming in from the left then we could come out of this stronger but I'd still worry about going into another season with McFred as our first choice in the pivot.

The problem is he seems to have his heart set on Juventus and we know that they would look to drive home their advantage and offer us their fringe players like Costa and Ramsey. Which is why I think we will eventually cave in and give him a monstrous new contract to keep him.

Yet you’re the one posting a starting 11 with Sancho and Kessie. You’re absolutely full of it. Yes our owners won’t spend big and yes based on recent history they won’t spend big to take us to the next level. Learn how to read and take scrutiny especially when you post nonsense.

Show me where I said we’d buy Haaland. In fact I’ve said we won’t invest heavily this summer several times especially someone of the caliber of Haaland. Reading and comprehension are clearly not your strong suits.

I'm fine with parting with Pogba although he would be a huge miss. I rather we got Grealish and Sancho and play a little differently. We need 3 first-team players even if Pogba remains.

52 appearances in almost 2 seasons and scoring 6 goals. Are you sure he's going to be a huge miss? For the price tag he's been a huge flop, injuries, inconsistent form, half the time he looks like he can't be arsed. Very talented player but hasn't really worked here.

To be fair we've played Pogba in a team with a crappy defense and a DM who lacks pace. If he had remained at Juve, he would have at least put himself in a position to win the Champions League. I think coming back to United stalled his progress.

Terrific player, but inconsistent. More talented than, say, Roy Keane, but I would take Keano over Pogba in 100 times out of 100. He would have lifted, improved and contributed to the team much much more.

Did I say it's you? Just because I added Haaland into bracket like what you did doesn’t mean it’s not the same meaning. Since you are a lazy poster and reader, next time I will make sure I add ''naively'' inside the bracket.

My scenario: Sell Pogba (Contract expired in 2022), Buy Kessie (Contract expired in 2022) & Sancho (Contract expired in 2023).
Your scenario: Keep Pogba, Buy CB & RW
Alternative Scenario (Based on various media): Keep Pogba, Buy Striker (naively Haaland) & CB

Does your scenario cost more money than mine? Yes
Does alternative scenario cost more money than mine? Yes

Yet you are moaning about my scenario is non-sense because it cost big money and the owner won't spend big but in reality it's cost less money than your and the other scenario. Think first before jump into conclusion.

Would love to see him stay but if we sell Pogba for £200m and negotiate with Dortmund to get Haaland at a lower price (say £50) then we'll have roughly £150m to spend on Grealish, Upamencano, Sabitzer, Maradona and can put the rest towards the wages of Cristiano Ronaldo and maybe even Neymar.

There's alot of players in our side who suffer from a serious lack of talent who we could sell to raise funds. Selling one of our best and most talented players is not the way to go.

We have to much to do to replace him this summer, we need to find a partner for him so we can play Fred and McTominay a lot less.

He's a great player, and we're worse without him.
But signing a new contract is also a double edged sword.
No doubt Raiola will get a fat fee to suit his fat arse, and he'll probably continue to smear the club in the media.
Pogba will likely become the club's highest paid player, but isn't really deserving of that position.
We've already broken our wage system, and it feels like we're just gonna break it again to stoop to a player.

I like Paul, but maybe just move on. It's been a failed experiment. Time to let go.

Time to get rid of Riola circus and build a solid team around solid midfield options from Zakaria/Carmavinga/Llorente/ Saul

Class player. Give him a new contract and finally start to build on what we have. Otherwise we will look at all players as failures overall when we’ve failed to win anything of note in five years time.

I am a Pogba fan. But with all of what's gone on over the years, and he's not getting younger....as the late Claude said:

Time to go!

Not very fussed about it tbf. My only worry is if he doesnt signs with either us or anyone else this summer , and we have to do all the circus yet another year while he is free riding and playing carefully without heart, or not at all, and goes for free next year.
