I don't think you get my point. Let me phrase it like this: The coach's job is to get the most out of the player material he has. Germany has great player material but there have been many teams that edged us in this aspect during Löw's time. That's not downtalking the team, it's just realism. And it's also a fact that no other team was as consistent as we were apart from Spain.

So you can have high expectations all you want, there are multiple other countries you could write the exact same things about. But those countries performed much worse than we did. Now you can say that all of them were coach incompetently or that Löw is the one-eyed among the blind. But it's beyond doubt that the German national team during his stint is one of the very few teams which consistently fulfilled the expectations, like it or not. Why do we think that this has had jothing to do with the coach? What's the distinguishing factor if not the coach between us and other nations with similar preconditions?
Um, no idea who you think you're talking to but you are arguing for the exact point I'm making. Thanks, I guess? I couldn't have said it better. You must have mixed me up with someone else. ;)

I'm not saying he should stay. I'm pointing out that Germans are spoilt regarding the national team and that the criticism has gone beyond rationality.
Yea mate, because playing Can at CB with Tah on the bench, and Hummels/Boateng at home, and playing Sane on the right with Gosens as the sole left wing attacker is definitely a reasonable tactical decision.

See, I don't think Löw is the right man for the job either. To me it feels like your club appointing a manager you're not very fond of. You may not be a fan and not agree with the appointment but you still try to remain fair in your criticism. I just think the current toxicity won't help. Instead Löw might take the public echo as a reason to question his system again, like he did in the aftermath of the WC when he copied the latest flavor of the month style (France) after possession football was proclaimed dead by the media. Ironically his decision to play vertical football without the necessary player material culminated in him getting spanked by Spain playing the very style he abandoned.

Therefore I hoped that the news of his resignation would somehow mobilize a certain support again but I fear the opposite is the case. But that's my last post on the topic, judging by the reactions I'm getting repititive ;)

Schalke
Mustafi dropped from the squad for sporting reasons (at Schalke!), Williams - another winter transfer - for disciplinary reasons. I'd say they finally realized that they might as well prepare the kids for next season, but then Huntelaar is getting his first start.

State of that own goal
Great goal from Schulz. Was not easy to get that in goal... - If Frankfurt wins the match they are 7 points ahead of BVB on rank 4... Then Haaland and the Raolo gang will do everything to flew Dortmund...

Dortmund down 1-0. Early doors but a loss for them would effectively kill their top 4 chances.

How serious is Sancho's injury? I assume he won't be fit for the City game either as he's not in the squad.

Is it just me or does Haaland looks super pissed since a couple of weeks ?
For me it looks like he can’t wait to leave BVB.

It's easy to point to the unfortunate own goal, but Dortmund really lack the cutting edge in attack. Frankfurt offer large pockets of space if you play quick enough, but Dortmund always allow them to reorganize eventually. The team is sorely lacking an unpredictable player like Sancho. It's a shame how much the injuries this season seem to have messed with Hazard. Maybe it's time to give Knauff some minutes again.

Well, you don't win anything with kids.

Not even the 4th spot trophy

So that's Dortmund 7 points behind Frankfurt with 7 games to go. How would the Bundesliga watchers describe their chances looking at the next 7 fixtures compared to Frankfurt, whose has the easiest fixtures?

Dortmund - Frankfurt 1:2
Leverkusen - Schalke 2:1
Wolfsburg - Köln 1:0
Mainz - Bielefeld 1:1
Augsburg - Hoffenheim 2:1

Schalke now 13 points behind rank 16th - with match days to go. There relegation probably will be fix already in April.

Does 6th get Europa League in the German league ? Dortmund could finish 6th.

Dortmund

How's that Schalke Schadenfreude treating you @do.ob
One doesn't have anything to do with the other, does it? I think the Cologne match already made sure that Dortmund will miss top four. The games before were supposed to be the easy run, with Leverkusen, Wolfsburg and Leipzig waiting at the end. They've dropped lots of points you can't afford to drop and their play doesn't suggest it was just bad luck either.

Depends on the cup winner I think. If the cup winner is a CL participant (or 5th), the 6th gets Europa League, and the 7th Conference League.

Least adventurous line-up under the circumstances, i actually have hopes for that Süle Hernandez pairing at CB.

I hope Nianzou does not injure himself again again again.

If that's what it is. I would rather expect Alaba at CB and Lucas as left back, as has been Flick's preference.
