We've had quite a few similar seasons in the past decade.
From Champions on almost 100 points to sitting 7th with the same manager?

Even if we take our poor performing seasons, the press coverage was ridiculous.

The amount of work this bloke does is unbelievable. Plays alongside hotching partners and gets it done week in, week out.

Did some great defensive screening and blocking. Very good performance.

Standard good performance. Dread to think what our defence would be like without him.

If he didnt commit that "light foul", Welbeck would have probably made his second I'd say. Wins every aerial battle, he is very important for us and his ball-playing ability is very underrated. Lindelof - Maguire isnt necessarily the problem.

Really good captain's performance today - fantastic clearance 1st half and nice to see him square up to Dunk I like that !

Far from it. You remove the horrendous start to the season that effected the entire team, and we've been pretty solid back there.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
My stream died just as the replays on the potential penalty in the second half happened. I must admit that watching it live I thought it was a penalty, so was he very lucky there or was it actually fine?

Otherwise I thought he was good, probably our best player over the course of the match.

Never a pen. Danny did one of his bambi on ice moves.

I thought it was a pen in real time, but absolutely not a pen on replay.

When I first saw it I did worry but watching it back it’s not a foul to be honest. It’s clever defending and he does just enough. I don’t think I’d of moaned if that happened at the other end.

It was very light contact and obviously Welbeck went down like he’d been shot. I mean you’ve seen them given but it’s better for the sport if penalties aren’t given for incidents like that.

In real time it looked like he upended the player from behind. Could easily see it being given for someone else other than Welbz.

Looking back to his best with the odd mistake thrown in every now and again.

Very good again tonight. Still does the lion’s share of the defending. Lindelof and AWB have qualities but I think without Maguire next to him we’d be a real soft touch.

Certainly think the left side of our defensive is as good as any, something not 100% right with Lindelof and AWB, needs work

Good game today, the recovery for Welbeck was also good play wasn't even close to a penalty.

100 appearances in less then 2 full seasons with us. That is an incredible stat. The guy is a rock.

Not sure why he gets so much stick on here. Think it's because he's English.
I think it's his price tag, as if it was his fault. Some fans are so terrified about the prospect that opposition fans might make a bit of fun for overspending on a player, that they take it out on the player himself

Possibly that but it's the sly comments people make about him associated with his nationality which I find quite sinister.

Carrying the central defence for me.

Takes responsibility on and off the ball at a much higher rate than Lindelof. It's basically Maguire + placeholder most of the time.

He can’t help his price tag we are the ones that paid it and he will never be worth anywhere near it but overall he has had a good season for us and is our best CB by quite a bit. Also I’ve never seen a player more fit, hasn’t he played every game in the league ? It’s like the opposite of Bailly/Jones

Had to risk a penalty to save his team today, just after he saved England with a winning goal.

What an absolutely brilliant week from him. Joy to watch.
