The relative strength of the Premier League

In my opinion PL is the best league in the world for a couple of years now but the difference with other leagues isn't as huge as a what a lot of PL fans think. I don't think that teams like Tottenham, Everton or Villa could compete against Bayern or PSG but they sure are better than teams like Villareal, Betis, Leverkusen, Union Berlin, Monaco etc.

It's pretty obvious the Premier League is the strongest league currently. Take the best team out of each top 5 league and out of the remaining teams, the Premier League would wipe the floor with every other league.

This is something we can't predict, since teams would adapt to the situation , they might still be the best league.

But there is also no doubt that they can simply afford and attract the best and most experienced coaches on international level . It is a never ending circle. Pep, Klopp, Tuchel, Mourinho, Ancelotti, Bielsa, in one league. Hassenhüttl, one of the best german coaches also went to the PL.
Maybe it is just me, although the PL is doing well, it should be stronger. There are also no excuses for Cities weak CL runs in recent years imo or our this year.

PL is and should be the best league.
Hasenhuettl is Austrian actually.

Additionally, the PL strength is not just about financial strength and even said financial strength is down to several reasons.

I've been of the idea that English football could benefit of exporting more players and managers as well. Not that it isn't a top league but the years of dominance of Spain in european competition it felt the english teams were not quite there in terms of tactics. Currently I think the league has gotten stronger since the arrival of Guardiola and Klopp and even if the top spanish teams are in decline I think our league still produces quite a few good players. So while teams in other european leagues don't have as much money as english teams I think they can still make up for it, to certain degree, by producing their own players and exporting them to richer teams.
Yeah, good points

Hasenhüttl has spent the last 25 years (as player and then as coach) outside of Austria. He has made his coaching license with the German FA - actually it was Hoeness who helped him getting a place in the coaching course when he was ending his time at Bayern's U23. That is why we "adopted" him...

The PL is at an all time high I'd say. Imagine if City, United, Chelsea, Liverpool will structurally make the top 4 in the coming years. You will structurally have teams like Tottenham, Arsenal, Leicester, Everton in the EL. The English teams are doing a great job with United and Leicester even performing the worst out of them I'd say.

The strength really shows whenever you look at the gameweek/matchday, every week you so tough matches for your rivals where they could be dropping points. Wolverhampton, Villa, West Ham, Leeds are teams you can easily drop points to, where the top/sub-top consists of 8 teams. Brighton/Crystal Palace/Southampton are also horrible to play against. It makes for a fantastic competition and I can't wait for the fans to return.

I didn't see the Chelsea game last night, but from what I read, Chelsea were very comfortable against the team top of La Liga.
Maybe Tuchel is kryptonite to Simeone but that was very surprising to me.
Good to see English teams back to top of the rankings, hopefully we'll contribute tonight by beating Milan, but am far from confident that will happen............

I see there are ZERO Italian teams in the quarter finals, 3 English, 2 Germans, 1 Spanish, 1 French

There's your relative strength
The EL is complete different for Germany v Spain and Italy though.

0 Germany, 2 Italy, 2 Spain.

Leverkusen and Hoffenheim chocking was hugely annoying. Both should've won their ties but beat themselves.

It feels more like the other leagues have had a massive drop off rather than the PL getting better.

Time for a "Spanish football is turd" thread? Atletico were shocking. Though they are one of the shittest top teams in history in general, so no surprise there.

I love those. Burnley drew against Chelsea, but Chelsea beat Atletico so Burnley is better than Atletico, ha!
Burnley have a bigger chance of beating Ateltico than the La Liga version of Burnley have a chance of beating Ateltico.

I can see both European cup competitions being all english finals with chelsea vs man city (strongest defences in ucl) and arsenal vs man united.

Just take the average wage of the different leagues, and you will most likely see that it correlates perfectly with the relative strength of the different leagues. Maybe you will have a few exceptions, but that is the rule.

The runaway leaders of the Premier League barely scrapping by the 5th place German team. What has happened to English football?

He‘s a Bayern fan. He needs the Bundesliga to be strong so that all their league titles aren‘t worthless.
True  its nice that the German defence league all stick together though. Maybe they can all hold hands and sing a song when Bayern win the league again and pick off the best players in the league?

Madrid played really well and Liverpool were shocking. Fully deserved their 3-1 win. City weren't at their best and will need to play much better than that for the rest of the competiton.

Barely not losing really isn't something to brag about

Unless you're Dortmund, Leipzig, Gladbach, Leverkusen. Then well done, you almost didn't lose.
