We are better with Martial despite his lack of goals this season.

Has he had more than one good game for us when Starting?

I wouldn't be renewing him even if he wanted it tbh

He is coming back from injury but we can't rely on him and Martial for next season. Need to let go of him and get a striker.

Doesn’t ever get a run of games.

better as an impact sub, but has with Martial out of form/ injured/ suspended for most of the season he’s a starter when fit. Unfortunately he’s out of form/ injured/ suspended like martial.

Made a great impact at the start and was worth the punt. Get the feeling he’s already on the beach somewhere warm in South America though. Not ideal but hope he can chip in for the rest of the season and we can address this position in the summer.

Hopefully his poor efforts highlight the need for a quality striker for next year, how nice it would be to to have a dangerous striker at the peak of their powers, it’s been a while!

Was a good signing until a bunch of white old men who dont know what racism is banned him for being a racist and now he cant leave England fast enough.

You can tell he's class in moments but it does seem like he's phoning it in compared to the first few games where he was running around like a madman.

It doesn't help of course that we're so shite at actually creating chances and progressing the ball to the dangerous areas without making a mammoth effort of it.

He can't be our starter.

He's a good impact sub(if he agrees to that role).

We need someone way better as our starting striker.

That's woeful display. Even for a sub role, I don't think he's worth the effort to keep him. Had great impact at the start, but has been not doing that great for some time now in between the injuries. For a back up role, we would want more reliable player in term of fitness as well as instant impact. We can't afford to have our back up a run of games to play into form, where our supposed long term attackers are inconsistent as is.

If he stays , I think our CF problem will be ignored for another 12 months , for that reason I want him gone .

Martial, Greenwood and Cavani have all struggled upfront. Is it them or the tactics?
It's AWB getting most of the ball in space and doing feck all with it. Ronaldo would struggle upfront for us.

Likes of Fred n AWB will never be good for a CF.

Think we might be better of playing 442 diamond and use him as a sub next few games. He looked like he didn't want to be there for the first time

Despite all the praise he's gotten this season, his general play has completely disappeared. Sure, he's popped up with a few good moments in the final third but that's about it. Not much difference between his contribution and Ighalo's last season in the cups. If we're going to be replacing him, I hope it's with someone who is bit of a more serious option as a starter. For example Giroud at Chelsea is someone they've been able to have faith in to at least some extent. With Cavani and Ighalo, they're just options to get you a goal and nothing else.

Nah he was free and helped carry us with some goals earlier in the season. Was hardly expected to be our main man.

That being said, was fecking brutal tonight
Wow...no wages? I wonder what we’ve actually paid him.

He’s been here all season, getting paid, been injured more than he’s been fit. Been mostly terrible when he’s played and scored in about five matches.

Barring commentators massively over praising him, there’s been little else positive.

Barely had a kick. Lack of service maybe but also looking disinterested. He wont be here next season.

Using this logic, there is never a free transfer made anywhere in the world, ever.

He seeker to have stopped the running around like a madman when we don’t have the ball. Whether he’s been told to stop doing it at the risk of getting injured again or he’s half his bags packed I’m not sure.

He ran around a lot more than Rashford, Greenwood or even Bruno did in that first half. He was the only one doing any pressing really. Not terribly effective if no-one else joins in.

Not too sure about that. His goals per 90 minutes played is 0.54

Rashford 0.37
Martial 0.24
Pogba 0.19
Greenwood 0.13

The only player with a more efficient return is Bruno at 0.56, although this would halve to 0.28 if you chose not to include penalties.

So by all means criticise him for not being available but he’s got the best scoring rate of all your forwards.

It’s not. He’s scored about every 220 minutes.

We got what little he had to offer a few months ago. I’ll shed no tears when his contract isn’t renewed.

For someone who is praised for his movement, he didn't do much of it today. Where even was he when Bruno was through on goal? That shot was always going to either go in or be deflected back into the box, but Cavani was just stationary outside of the box, miles away from the action.

He’s our Flamini (bear with me before smashing that Reply button). He does stuff the team need him to do and which the other players in the team don’t do, which makes him look good and them bad by comparison, but he just doesn’t do them well enough or often enough to avoid us coming to the conclusion “We need someone like him but better”.

6 goals in 1008 minutes apparently, which is 0.54 goals/90min. The stats I’m looking at could be wrong I suppose..
He’s scored 7 goals in 1472 minutes. A goal every 245 minutes or every 2.73 games.

Im not solely blaming him, I’m just not of the opinion that this type of forward fits the way we play. On the flip side I don’t think he’s been good at all either.

I have no alcohol hangover, but I have read this post twice already and is just half way through to understanding it. English not being my first or second language is still not good enough of an excuse for me to feel dumb. Thank you for breaking my brain before lunch time.

Got some decent crosses into the box to him but he just wasn't interested. Looks gone to me.
Agree with this. I expect he will be playing elsewhere come August. No longer looks that fussed.

He's scored some good goals for us. All I all though, those that questioned this transfer probably got it right. It's not a Falcao situation but it's sure not a Zlatan.

Lmfao. I am like a shite VPN channel that process data packages in small quantities and with errors. Now I finally got what you meant and fully agree. Edinson does seem to have qualities that our other forwards luck, however, he does not demonstrate them often or well enough. Ole would have killed to have a prime Cavani or Falcao in this team.

I can't believe he ended with such performance after he seemed to start the game so poorly. Grew up massively in it as it went on and the header ? The header my man, absolute class finish.
