Coady is 50/50 to go I imagine, hardly a crazy shout. Neville has Greenwood going and Henderson starting in goal, no one outside of Utd circles would agree with that.
They are certainly two of Neville's debatable shouts, but Carra would rather whine about Neville's comments about TAA out of their proper context. For me there are plenty of fair arguments for excluding Greenwood but I can see why you'd roll the dice on another forward, particularly Mason who is a lethal finisher on form, rather than including another CB in case you play a back five. As for Henderson I'd probably take him, grooming him to be England's keeper for the next 10+ years but as you say that's a United-centric opinion.

My overall point about Carra is that he didn't really debate many of these issues as he had such a stick up his arse about TAA.

Why is he commenting on Liverpool again? What do Sky gain from having him commentate vs a neutral?

Can only think himself and Neville get so many ‘home’ fixtures as co-commentators due to travel restrictions related to Covid. Maybe Sky don’t want to bring pundits all over the country and just award the slots based on what’s convenient?

I don’t know, it’s just something I’ve noticed a lot of more since Project Restart, it was never this pronounced, was it?

What was that noise from him when Firmino controlled an easy ball with no one within 50 feet of him? :houllier:

Tool.

He said "what a ball that is" from TAA to jota for Liverpools disallowed goal. It was an awful ball that should have been easily cut out.

Going over the top to praise him now.

Yeah I've got the game on as background noise and after hearing that I thought something insane had happened. Not sure what he was doing...

I wasn't the only one then!

I was looking at my phone and heard "WOW!" and thought I missed an amazing bit of skill. It was just a decent touch in midfield.

Rashford's touch for the goal against Granada was infinitely better.

Yep, it is incredibly transparent what Carragher’s up to now. That was yet another lazy punt forward from Alexander-Arnold which should have been cut out. If you listened to Carragher’s comments with your eyes closed, you’d be forgiven for thinking the through-ball was exquisite and ‘undefendable’.

Like Neville, he must have a bonus scheme for everytime he makes stupid noises, and thought that was as good as it gets for Liverpool nowadays, very weird.

I actually missed the pass and just seen jota pulling it back. Seen it on the replay and thought what the feck is he on about!

Urghh what a knob.

TAA has been poor to average again today. Off the back of getting destroyed by Real.

Great goal but as Neville pointed out first and foremost he's got to be a good defender. At the moment he's not.

Hes a total bellend.

Used to actually like him as a studio guy but this is putting me of him altogether.

The guy presenting even said neville had him in his squad all along and yet Jamie just said he didn't.

He has no perspective as a commentator. Goal in the last minute and his first thought is to put over his comedy feud on Monday nights with Gary Neville. What an embarrassment.

Wonder what the resident Liverpool fans think about it? His first thought is Gary neville, not a last minute hit and run.

I can't imagine sharing a studio with any former Liverpool player/supporter. If I were someone like Neville, I'd come to each studio matchday with all my League and CL medals on my neck.

Him scoring a goal doesn't really prove anything, the biggest issue people have with him as a defender is his ability to defend.

Carragher is a joke.

Isnt it weird how Sky’s top two football pundits get all weird when they commentate on their teams.

Carragher plays the classic biased colour commentator, as Neville plays the weird antithesis of that and will put down Utd all the time, even if they do something well.

Neville is a proper professional. Carragher epitomises lad banter. Feel for Villa fans having to listen to that bollocks.

It's almost as if he didn't listen to a word neville actually said.

Did he really taunt Neville while on commentary? Standard of PL commentary really has fallen from the days of Tyler and Gray. What can you expect when Drury is the PL's main commentator.

Best line from Monday night when Carragher was banging on.

Exactly. It's like everyone's deliberately choosing to be dense about this. Everyone acknowledges he's really good going forward and has a great delivery on him. His defending isn't great at all. I've got nothing against TAA and don't really care whether he goes to Euros or not, but this whole thing of constantly making him out to be the best right back in the history of the game is nauseating.

Summed up nicely. It’s a shame because for a long while Neville had elevated Sky coverage. But Carragher seems to be the lead guy now and the coverage has really been dumbed down.

i think he’s had his nose put out of joint by the sheer number of pundits on TV nowadays. Neville and Carragher dominated punditry for a couple of years. Sky indulged them with their own analysis shows and made a big fuss over their partnership. however since project restart there are more games televised than ever, more pundits punditing on them than ever. There’s the Richard’s and Keane tag team that Sky seem to push as the new power couple. there’s the Jake Humphries suckathon with any ex-pro and VAR. I think Carragher is upset about no longer being alone in in the pundit a list and is worried about being marginalised. I think he’s trying to cultivate something resembling what he thinks might be a personality and is scrabbling around trying to find what works. he’s trying the Keane/Scholes approach to punditry at the minute and it’s not working.

Just heard his commentary there, what's wrong with this scouse prick? "Are you watching Gary Neville"...yeah I'm sure he was when he was missing himself laughing at watching Trent in a much more important game on Tuesday night make an embarrassment of himself.

I had a bit of respect for him in recent years with his punditry but he's really shown to be a typical scouse deluded prick since his beloved Trent got picked on
