Fair play to Steve. two ft tall, personality of a balloon and a dick that can't inflate, yet still gets all the lovely ladies.

Also what's the deal with him just casually rocking up to Liverpool all the time for a quick chat? Isn't it like a four hour drive from London?
I don’t think it’s ever explicitly said it’s London is it? Just a random metropolitan city.

They always refer to the East Midlands Constabulary as being a ‘nearby force’ so I just assumed it was meant to be a fictional city in the Midlands. Easier location for a Scouse booty call for Steve from there.

The woman Steve keeps going to see, she mentioned she’d invested in a hairdressers. Isn’t that what Laverty had done in season 1 on behalf of the OCG?
I reckon Hastings was approached by the OCG, got tempted with the initial 100k, then bottled it before getting his fingers too far into the pie. That would explain why he quickly chucked his laptop and is now 100% behind catching the OCG.

Doesn't mean he can't keep 50k of the money to help out John's missus and kid. The hairdresser's is probably just coincidental or a deliberate red herring.

Only just got round to watching this weeks episode. Not sure why they needed to make it so obvious it wasn’t Buckles at the end. Isn’t the fun part not knowing?

I don't think it is London because you wouldn't have a Police and Crime Commissioner if it was.

It's definitely in the Midlands. As you eluded to earlier, East Mids is mentioned multiple times and there's a few Nottingham Forest Easter eggs throughout the series.

Yeah. Doesn’t Kate make reference to buying her son a Forrest top in the first or second episode of this season too?

One thing I noticed. When they interview the Down syndrome guy does he say “Ian did it”?

First time round I just thought he was struggling to say “he did it” but when Davidson watches it back I swear he says Ian did it.

I know Buckle is called Ian but I can’t imagine him committing a murder.
I think its Ryan, because Ryan basically told him to keep it zipped or else when dropping him off for the interview. Could be why Terry couldn't quite say as he probably wanted to, but he was too frightened of Ryan's threat.

Also did anyone notice when Jo was in her office after Terry's interview, she had the photos of him and Banks up, it listed Ted Hastings as the SIO of Operation Lighthouse. It did again when Steve was looking at something about it. I know AC12 are investigating it but wouldn't Jo or Buckles still be down as the SIO as they're still investigating, just AC12 are also involved but they haven't fully taken over, Kate and Co are still running the case.

Editing my own posts.
Steve tearfully necking his fake painkillers with a shaking glass of wine was an absolutely ridiculous scene.

3 was where they all started to connect everything no? 1 & 2 worked well as standalone seasons more or less, but 3 started to drop in them all being connected and it's been about that ever since really, any time they try and sell any of the 3 leads as bent... I find it hard to buy though, but kinda let it go as I'm hoping none of them actually are, they'd want you to believe it.... yet at the same time, remember the past 5 seasons, it wouldn't add up.

I find it mad Ryan's a rozzer, look how easy Steve found his history in the newest ep. I'm pretty certain most people know how strenuous the application process is.... and this isn't exactly based not in the modern age. Oh well.

It's still good viewing, and being only 6-7 episodes helps that massively, but 1-2 are pretty different shows to 3-6.... but that's generally what happens with success.
2 is easily the best season, but Keeley Hawes's stuff in 3 was still pretty good. Thandie Newton's season was where it started getting really silly, though I feel it was still a lot more entertaining than this one, which has dialed it back somewhat to be more along the lines of S2, but consequently feels a little pedestrian. A kind of weird mix of early series lower stakes drama, but with the maddenly convoluted plot machinations of a 6 season story arc.

The picture is Jo Davidson, nothing is revealed on there.

Blood brother is the term, so its likely she could be John Corbett’s sister.

The picture was just of Jo. Whoever they’re alluding to is on the half of the paper which is blocked by the camera before Hastings looks at it.

For a supposedly clever guy, why on earth would that lawyer (Lakewell?) choose to risk it and go back to prison...

Also I think he has unofficially divulged something to Steve in that van.

Yeah there was a nod from Steve after he’d told them he wasn’t saying anything which I thought indicated just as much.

Am I right in saying there’s 7 episodes this season?

Yep me too, you can clearly see that was the case and they've hidden it from viewers. I think he thought he would be ok as he hasn't 'officially' spoken.

Yeh I found that so dumb as well. I get that he probably thinks witness protection won’t save him from the OCG but surely he knew that he’d be killed the moment he went back to prison - the reasoning that he hopes they would assume he hadn’t talked was so weak. Why on earth would they take the chance.

It's not the picture thats the issue, its the person she is related to. I think its:

That lady boss who said Ted should retire.
I think the same thing. I think she is H or the person she works with is, or they both are. If you're H what's the perfect way to stay hidden... get rid of the team that investigates anti corruption until they're too short staffed to have the man power to investigate anti corruption properly
Speculation re Chloe

I think she's bent. I know she was upset, but her saying I can't get up, conveniently the other officer then went up instead rather than Chloe get a leg up, putting her in the line of fire from the Sniper. What a shot Steve is with that pistol!

Is that guy who lied about the Karim Ali case still alive as it could be him as well as he keeps getting mentioned in the clips here and there?

Also Chole did look nervous during the journey like she expected something to happen.

who signed off for Lakewell to be granted witness protection and released from prison if he talked? Either the leak is Chloe, or who signed it off, which would surely be really high up? Asian Man and Grey haired woman are definitely dodgy, perhaps H. What better way to remain hidden by removing the team that investigates anti corruption....

She also was the one who said the info could be leaked by AC12.

She should look nervous, and be expecting something to happen in an armed convoy.

I think Chloe is bent. She could have easily got on that van, was her appearing then disappearing a signal to the sniper? Plus, he only appeared when the woman got on the van (I think) so if Chloe knew he was going to be there she wouldn't want to be on the line of fire... interesting theory re lying guy from episode one I'm on a line of duty fb group and a lot of theories include him. I'll have to watch again re Chloe's body language, did they want Steve out the way?

Was sad to see the lawyer go. It’s rare for a character in this to actually have consistently good dialogue.
Called it. Or did I?
Wasn’t the implication that the DNA match was to a police officer?

Definitely wasn't no obvious threat directly on Steve aside from killing everyone. Definitely think that lying guy is involved, they casually keep showing clips so everyone knows who he is.
