I honestly think Rodgers might become the first British manager to win the league since Fergie.
And if he does will be only the 3rd after Fergie And Dalglish. Still no English winners which is funny

Howard Wilkinson was last to win it, but was old 1st division

Will this be the end of Jose's top flight career or will another club see him as the Messiah who can save them.
Logically you'd think this is it but it should have also been the case after his spell at United possibly even us. So with that in mind I really wouldn't put it past another club to appoint him.

I watched the whole game again last night, then, I am not sure Jose has finished anymore as many have believed. The way they played the game against us shows a real evolution he seemly wants to implement. They basically want to play the same way that we, pool, Arsenal, Aston Vila , and many other teams in the league. The issue is that it is still a work in process. When they transit back to low block defensive phase, they demand more bodies there including the wingers than us. It’s the small margin when they have those many in the block they tend to become less organized in mindset. It’s like they are purely hoping the other teammates doing things if a situation appears. Our first two goals came from those messy situations that they seemed having everybody in the positions but no one knows what we wanna do. Fred’s penetrating one-two run, and mason’s first time cross, all drew them completely unprepared. I would say that our attacking is amazing and unpredictable. But, they will become better and better if they continue the way they played against us. It needs a lot of games to get the team used to it.
but no matter what, many of their players are cheating cnuts.
We can revisit this next year but my prediction is that they will get worse and worse (except for some short lived resurgences) and Jose will get fired.

I don’t disagree with the assessment from many of their fans that their squad is not significantly worse than ours. They have the best striker in the league and one of the top 3 forwards in the league. Their mid field has some talented and expensive players but yet I can assure you there is no light at the end of the tunnel with Jose.

Can't see him taking offers which to him seem like lesser than his image (midtable clubs) but maybe he needs something like that. Proper challenge of staying in the league for starters and building club to the top. It would require him to adopt new skills and grow as a manager. Different challenges, different goals, new setup. He seems so tired all the time now doing the same all over again.

But he's done really, been found out yet too stubborn to even try to adapt, always reversing to the type. Shame, he was really good before that Real spell. Punditery seems like real option.

Can you see him staying in the club football or he's on the way to be yelled by Roy Keane?

Curious - which of his achievements has impressed you ? If West Ham finish above Leicester this season, will your views change. I find his teams seem to choke.
If Leicester collapse again then yeah it's a serious issue with him.

I like him a lot as a manager but that and his record in Europe are concerns

I just can't rule out the feeling that he will still be able to live off his record for atleast another two jobs, like with a toxic partner someone somewhere will feel they can "fix" him, the only reason i'm not paranoid we'll be that stupid is because of Marina (she would instantly pour hard reality on the idea if Roman/Cech get sentimental and think another shot could work) but if she leaves all bets are off.

Roman does what Roman wants to do. He wants trophies. He never acts sentimental with players or managers. I could not see a reason he would think Jose will bring trophies.

Still think Italy would be a nice place for him again. Obviously Juve is out of the question and Inter are doing well but maybe a club like Roma or Napoli?

Atletico in Spain if Simeone moves on?

This does seem to be a recurring theme with Rogers' teams for some reason. It's a little bizzare and just as he gets plaudits when his teams start seasons really well, he deserves criticism when they finish woefully.

Ole's an honorary Mancunian isn't he?

I wonder if I'll ever be able to see an Englishman lift the Prem as a manager in my lifetime. Seems a bit far-fetched.

AC Milan if Pioli doesn't get the results right or they don't start playing better.

Reunion with his favourite Zlatan and a fairly decentish side might suit him although I'm not sure if they'll go for him after the last few years of travesty.

Quite amazing how their season has gone. They were top of the table in December, now they look unlikely to quality for CL.
Yeah, strange one. Statistically speaking they were heavily overperforming at the start of the season, their performance was always going to level out (See Son scoring about 30 goals from 1 xG). But I think Mourinho's in the early stages of losing the dressing room which always heaps on the misery of their performances.

Another incredibly poor reflection of Mourinho as a manager. I don’t have the energy to go back and check this but I’m fairly certain some Jose fanboys would’ve defended him for this action.

2 weeks fine for going to support his wife during the birth of their child! I’m actually disappointed in the club that they allowed this to happen.

Maybe reading abit too much into it, but seems the mother had complications and needed to recover which meant Anthony had to stay and help with the baby. Reflects worse on Jose if true, but glad he family is well and healthy.

Mourinho had some people brainwashed that they defended him for his actions in this saga.

His time at Madrid broke him and he's never recovered. I loved Jose in his prime, probably my second favorite manager of all time behind SAF. But he just doesn't have it in him to recover, which has to be quite clear to anyone paying attention at this point. Italy is the only the top league where I think he could have success, as his tactics and demeanor is more accepted there. But he'd probably just end up ruining what's left of his reputation there as well. Too much pride to take a mid-table club somewhere or something in a lower league. Might have a chance to be an international manager as this defensive tactics can still be effective in tournament play and not having daily interactions and the pressure of performing in a league might keep him sane longer. But going that route sort of admits defeat at the club level, and that's tough to accept.

Still a good pundit though. I like listening to him talk about football, he clearly still has the ability to be a tactical master, but just seems he's lost the newer generation of players who don't respond to his methods.

He never seemed the same after he came back from Madrid. He was always a dick but there was a positivity and energy about him that counterbalanced it. Then it seemed to change and all be constant dickishness. The stuff at our place with the doctor Eva was just totally out of line. I wasn't really that sad when he left again.

He said few years ago how Lampard was a man at 23 and today players (and young people generally) are spoiled brats at that age or something like that. Maybe I read too much into it but think it shows that he just can't adapt to new generation of players, they won't follow his methods etc.

His Tottenham team is odd as well, if there's one think I expected when Jose came there it was that he would bring stability in their defence and make them hard to beat. That, combined with Kane and Son upfront, was supposed to make Spurs at least better than they were when he took over, instead they're horrible at the back and tend to drop points so many times which is so unlike every Mourinho team (even United to some extent) before.

I think it's safe to say both United & Spurs fans can at this point agree he's a trash manager living on old merits but it's not his managerial skills that bother me, it's his absolutely horrid personality. Imagine being a millionare and constantly coming off this bitter and sour as this guy. Never genuienly happy, always negativity and drama with this guy. Can't stand him. The bitterness and attitude from him is something else.

Someone on this board once suggested looking at articles from his time at Madrid to see how incredibly toxic he was back then, so I went on a bit of a spree on the Guardian looking at old stories on Mou from around then and fecking hell he was a horrid troll even then, not just towards the end but the early days as well.

The Madrid job didn't "break" Mourinho, Pep getting the Barca did however almost certainly helped.

Madrid broke him 100%

It's the first time he lost the dressing room. His final season at Real was an unmitigated disaster on all fronts.

He has never recovered from it.

I love Jose and think he is the second best manager of my generation behind Sir Alex, Wenger in third.

He does seem to have lost his edge though. His press conferences are hard to watch now, very bitter towards the press, blames everybody apart from himself and turns on his players in a heartbeat.

His personality has changed and I don't think he can ever go back to the old (young) Jose.

Ironically his extreme desire to win, which used to be his biggest asset is now his weakness. He just get's so frustrated if he doesn't manage the best team with the best players in every position. He can't handle being second best. He could never do what Ancelotti has done and go somewhere like Everton and build something. He'd get too frustrated and be slating their squad players every week.

Easily. That Torres book was telling. A tremulent Mourinho calling the Madrid players rats with tears running down his cheek while they derisively snicker sounds hillarious.

He lost their respect completely and found himself losing his confidence as he moved forward. That Madrid spell completely changed him as a manager.

Will be interesting to see where he goes from here. He’s finished in England surely but I can see him getting a job in Italy. Inter again maybe?

Portugal NT would make too much sense but don’t think he’s ready to give up club football just yet.

He said tonight that his team “is not a team that complains” about decisions that go against them.

I was thinking while watching the game tonight I can see him at Everton, or Newcastle if they ever come into money. He'll just slowly move down the league

Red Card for Casemiro!
Today's post match from Jose, you have to admit, is far from the usual dramatics. He was calm, composed, joking, offered analysis into the game, made a witty comment here and there and sidestepped Pogba.

Doesn't quite go with the man about to be sacked narrative.

He could do pretty well at Wolves too I think. Defensive minded and have a decent portugese core. That’s his level now tbf but will he realize that? Too big ego for a mid table club.. but who knows.

Time to give international management a go, I think. Seems to still have a knack of competing in knockout tournaments. All I can see for him really, A different managerial approach than club football could be good for him.
