To be fair. It was a good scene. Seeing the lannister soldiers in a different light and not all of them were cnuts.
Sure, it was also about as nuanced as a sledgehammer and also a repeat thematically of a scene from 4 seasons prior that was much more effective before. Recall the scene from season 3 where Talisa saws a Lannister soldier's foot off to save him - here we have a case of showing but not telling, as we see the life-altering and brutal impact of the war on peasants whilst the nobility are actually derided for their unwillingness to ignore human suffering. In season 7, in contrast, we get Ed Sheeran sitting around a fire and Lannister soldiers throwing a pity party to humanise them in the clumsiest way imaginable.

On episode 3 season 8 of my rewatch now. It really is bad isn’t it (season 8 that is)?

Everything is so rushed. Just cramming so much in there and it’s hard to really care about any of it. Then the infamous darkness on episode 3 is fecking worse than I remember. Barely watchable.

Season 7 was okay though, despite suffering from similar problems to a lesser extent.

Yeah its was.
Don't forget the "I like yer song" followed by "hurr yeah it's new one hurr hurr I'm ed sheeran I'm an ugly ging cnut", or whatever it was he said. I didn't hear it because I was too busy ramming my head through the nearest wall.

There's nothing worse than a show that crawls up its on arse.

This scene(starting from 4:15) never fails to make me laugh. Bronn's "for feck's sake" perfectly captures what practically everyone watching was thinking. And then we have the hilariously bad fight choreography, accompanied by that Donkey Kong drumming music. And then the terrible acting from the sand snakes to finish the train-wreck off

5:50  the speed of a sloth with his big pointy stick ffs

Bronn will always be amazing no matter what, had some of the best lines of the series and never really changed character, just one of the lads pretty much.

Kind of wish he died during Season 7 since he didn't really do anything after that. When he chose duty over money. That moment just seemed kind of pointless when he went back to being the same old Bronn again.

Completely disagree with that. Bronn starts out being opportunistic and entirely self-serving exemplified by how he first helps to arrest Tyrion and bring him to the Eyrie, but then switches sides when he senses there is more money in that. For some odd reason they decide to change his character and he develops a heart of gold culminating in him leaving his money and risking his life to save Jaime from Drogon. But then he does a complete 180 and threatens to kill Jaime and Tyrion in the final season. Hopeless writing.
I do agree he had some really good lines in the first seasons, but it developed into being mostly dick/cock jokes by the end.

I think having Bronn end up as Master Of Coin was one of the most logical conclusions to the series.

As someone who thoroughly enjoyed the first 4 seasons and would rewatch the hell out of it till that point, the show by the end of it has far more shite one can point out as compared to the quality stuff from initial seasons. On that basis alone this should never be mentioned anywhere near the best shows of all time. There's literally a plethora of utter failures in terms of pretty much every single aspect of a tv show.

Having said that, I don't think there has ever been anything worse in any tv show ever than the writer who purposely, in his full senses, decided to write the line 'I never really cared much for them' and actually thought that should be the finisher on that 8 season long character arc. Of all the things in the world that person could have written, that's what he decided to go with. I can literally pay 1000 guys to watch the show till that point and write what should be the final quote to end that arc and make it as mind-numbingly dumb, out of character and nonsensical to the point of being a parody and it would never end up as bad as that. That's literally how bad that writing was.

It's pretty much an achievement in itself for the same people who created, directed, wrote and fecking watched the show for half of it's duration to feck it all up in the way they did. Requires a special collection of dimwitted brains.

I agree with the rest of the stuff you said esp s8. But i think the poitives of this show vastly outweigh the negatives. The problem is everybody remembers the ending. If they land the ending, I think it goes down as a GOAT show despite s7 and that stupid going beyond the wall episode and what happened in Dorne.

To quote one of my favorite youtubers:

"Isn't he the worst possible candidate for that job?"
"Well, he threatened Tyrion. And he likes coins."
"I guess that qualifies him..."

It really felt like they were just trolling at the point where they wrote that line for Jaime. I mean how could anyone in their right mind write a line like that for a major character in at the time the worlds biggest TV show. They just ruined one of the show best characters in 1 line. Everything in S8 was just a mess. Bran being fairly useless despite being omniscient. Saying he can't be a lord because he's a the 3 eyed crow now and then later reveals he came to King Landing to become king. And then he was picked as king by a council on Tyrion who was on trial. Jon I feel at least should have scrapped with the Ice King, since essentially Jon and him had eyed each other as rivals for some seasons. The Others was always Jon's battle in my opinon. Instead Arya just jumps out of nowhere and stabs him. I felt Arya should have killed Cersei instead, it would be much in keeping with her story since she trained to become a faceless man to revenge her father and family. Jon just ends up becoming fairly useless and gets sent back to the wall, despite the fact he's the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna is a major theme in the series. Davos suggesting the unsullied should start their own house. I mean it just gets worse worse. And Brann becoming king of the seven kingdoms because he has "the best story"? I don't understand how they couldn't have done a timeout and hired some writers since they were clearly bored and burned out.

Six kingdoms, Sansa got independence. And the others sat there not asking for it as well, especially Yara, who asked Dany for it before.

Well yeah but they didn't. And it wasn't just not as good or satisfying as it could have been. It was literally extraordinary dogshit beyond belief.

I thought Bronn was one of the worst characters. He served his purpose well in the first few seasons, but then just seemed a bit of a caricature.

Does is affect your enjoyment of the earlier seasons when you rewatch it, though? This seems to be the How I Met Your Mother debate. The finale there turned off some people off the same way this show's final seasons did.

Of course it does. There's a whole lot of part in previous seasons where entire sequences are built over the threat of white walkers and what will happen when they finally cross the wall. Knowing they're gonna die like a bunch of stupid zombie cnuts after standing around for a few minutes in a battle with no lights with the so called greatest threat in the history of this world etc etc getting stabbed by a feckall main character clad in plot armor. What the feck is the point of watching all that build up after that point. This isn't a sitcom.

It's been a while since I've watched the show and I forgot about that. And I fully agree with you. That was a disastrous storyline decision and it did feel as if the hours of television they spent developing that storyline were wasted.

I see what you're saying, in a sense. Scenes dedicated to story arcs which culminated in a botched finish are difficult to rewatch, because you know what's coming.

I know they didnt and im not disagreeing with that.

But overall, as a show, for me theres more positives than negatives rather than the other way around.

Reading the comments here reminded me of the disappointment and anger I had at season 8.

feck me they really screwed over a fanbase with their laziness/stupidity.

 forgot that they actually said this. This was the moment I realised they’d lost all interest in the show & just wanted it done - no matter how much the events in the final season didn’t make sense/were rushed. Imbeciles.

What's even funnier is basically two or three scenes before the whole team is talking about eurons fleet

The scene where one of the dragons get shot down is awful on so many levels. First, how does Daenerys not see them? Obviously the ships see the dragons well enough to hit them, but Daenerys is completely oblivious to them, because they are behind a rock of something. Makes no sense. Second, the precision of the bolt throwers goes from Godlike to Stormtrooper from one cut to the next. They hit their first three shots on a moving target hundreds of yards in the air, but then fail to ever hit a shot again - even when Daenerys is flying straight at them. Honestly can't believe this stuff made it to the screen.

It was all just really ludicrous. Everything you said is a prime example of someone going what would be the shortest thing weed could do here and then doing it.

I cannot see how you could rewatch this show and I loved it so much when you know just how completely messed up the ending is and how much they ruined all the plotlines and theories.

Arya and all that time she spent becoming a great assassin when she eventually just appears out of thin air from a great height to kill the main villain

Jon Snow was pretty much the focal point from the first episode yet at the end his entire storyline meant absolutely nothing and we never even got see people reacting to who he was .

Maybe Sansa had a proper arc and ending but who else.

Bran ending up as King when he disappeared from the site for ages and offered nothing more than a bit of eye rolling when he did appear is truly the work of a master troll.

If he had the best story shame we never saw it

That just takes me back to Season Seven.

Cersei - "Qyburn. Have you been successful in finding a way to destroy the Targaryen bitch's dragons?"

Qyburn - "Yes your grace. I have devised an incredible machine that will help us defeat these wretched creatures. It is an unstoppable machine and those scaled bastards will rue the day they were hatched."

Cersei - "Good! I can't wait to see such an incredible machine! How did you overcome the dragonscale problem?"

Qyburn - "....your Grace?"

Cersei - "You know; the super tough scales on the entire dragon's body. Not even a big scorpion device could penetrate it."

Qyburn - "But the Dornish used a scorpion to..."

Cersei - "Yeah, by firing it in the dragon's fecking eye all the way through its brain. Pretty impossible shot to make, which is why it's only ever happened once in history."

Qyburn - "......"

Cersei - "You've just built a scorpion haven't you?"

Qyburn - "........."

Cersei - "For fecks sake."

Also Jaime’s storyline pissed me off. His entire storyline was about redemption. And then he just goes back to Cersei at the last minute. Feck off.
