I really can't see this happening. UEFA would stand to lose too much money (regardless of the clubs fortunes) UEFA would lose so much money.

Plus it's unfair on the players who have worked so hard to get there, most of which are the fringe players for Man Utd.
Couldnt really care less about those clubs to be honest.

don't understand why anyone would think this. the clubs still want to compete in their domestic leagues. as they should. that won't change. it's only the top 4 race that gets messed up, the one most people criticise clubs like Arsenal for celebrating.
There is now at the very least 18 ESL group games, without even mentioning the knockouts. 3x as many games as the UCL. They will be playing weakened squads in the PL every other week.

The PL becomes a second rate competition that is in the way more than anything.

Not convinced about that. Every country will still be there, every nation supported like always. There have been plenty of World Cups where a big team didnt qualify and big names were missing.
Different this time round though as it's more than just 1 major team which won't have all their big name players.

It's all about power. If the FA tells those clubs they won't be playing in their competitions they will have to accept everything that comes after that as well, which is far less money for the many employers that would be left in the whole thing.

Are they willing to accept that? If they do, they will have my admiration, but at the end of the day it's money what makes the world go round.
Agree, and I hope they do tell them that's the way it is. If you want my honest opinion domestic European football would be much, much more competitive without the bigger 2-3 clubs in each league.

Speak for yourself. Which you are doing.
Yes. That's all anyone can do..

Based on the fact that audiences outside of England only really watch the teams in the Super League I know who I'd bet on to be more commercially viable so I'm comfortable with my opinion.

Can you see almost the entire starting XI for England being banned from Euros and World Cup?

They also stand to lose a lot of money if they do nothing. One solution is going down defenseless and the other with a shred of dignity

If I understand correctly all American sports are like this. How do they keep it interesting?
With the exception of baseball they all have hard salary caps to prevent big clubs from hoarding players. All leagues have drafts, where the worst teams are awarded the opportunity to draft the best young players. Finally, trades happen, but players can not be sold (well, not really, but there are sometimes "cash considerations"). Overall it means no one team is continually dominant except through being run well. Well, at least in theory.

This will surely be a deal breaker with many players. Will the likes of Ronaldo, De Bruyne, Sterling, Pogba, Bruno, Salah, Van Dijk, Kane etc really agree to play in this new league if it means never playing for their countries ever again?
When they are being paid 2-300k more per week than playing for other clubs? Definitely.

Not that many players can play for PSG

guess we will have to wait and see. i imagine there will be larger squads to compensate, but i still think clubs will still want to win the league. i mean, the SL is going to be incredibly tough to win. clubs still want to win stuff.

No.

There'll be some sort of law preventing it from happening, the Court of Arbitration for Sport would stop it.

What? Bruno played the second leg when we were 4-0 up. And yes, Ole never rests players. That’s my point.
 I can’t get into that game again sorry.

the fact that you even argue that the result didn’t matter is enough for me.
Every game we have entered this year so far has been competitive and the result has mattered. I can’t believe it’s being argued otherwise.

it will not be like like that with a closed league waiting at the end of the year. It’s totally pointless and against the spirit of the game those 6 remaining in the league. The only reason they would be kept in the league is due to money.

And when Liverpool or City are walking the league by 30 points what will the other teams be fighting for again? Pride to finish 2nd?

Multiply it by 100 when the results of the League have absolutely no bearing. At least when teams had to finish top 4 there was something to fight for. There will be no benefit for Spurs to finish 3rd or 13th. They'll still get their games with Madrid the next season, that is not the case right now.
I hear what you're saying mate I don't like this whole thing. But football existed before the top 4 race. What did teams who weren't winning the league play for before 4 teams were allowed into the CL? What did they play for when only 2 teams got into Europe? What did they play for before European football was even a thing?

What do teams who are safe from relegation but unlikely to qualify for Europe play for every season?

Let's say the ESL establishes itself away from FIFA/UEFA, what kinda football rule will they follow ? I mean for offsides, handballs etc etc.
It could be a totally different football
For the first time I suspect you to be under the influence of Khat.

That's what I mean. The clubs are going to have to concentrate fully on that because it's a tougher more demanding competition than the CL was.

Removing the qualification aspect from the league takes a lot of relevance away from it. One team can win the PL, the 5 other teams won't care what happens at all.

It's alright, I'm from the country.

A few big names miss every World Cups due to non qualification. If ESL players are excluded you are talking potentially 150-200 top players missing.

Who’s going to referee? Aren’t refs licensed by FIFA?
Great point

I can honestly see all these “owners” sitting round a table counting the coin they’ll make andnot thinking about the actual game.
Like refs fans players etc...

what did they do for the entire history of football up until the PL era?

also there will likely be a promotion to the SL at stakes for non founding clubs.

Parellells of the creation of the Prem.

If the teams are kicked out of Europe this season, you could see them creating the first Super League title title this year.....
