I wonder if the Super League has given any thought to who is actually going to be refereeing the league.

Beacuse it won't be the UEFA refs.
They’re all shit anyway so may as well get a Boy Scout from anywhere

So in theory they could change the name of Manchester United and move the club out of Manchester if this goes through right?

I can't believe all this. I'm still in shock. It's like a really bad April fools joke only it appears to not be a joke.

The Football world is imploding.

Why would they be crazy about an idea which forces them to abide by financial fair play rules?
Yeah I don't think City are too worried about FFP.

I do think any English club that pulls out could well benefit. (unless it's Spurs... In which case no one will care)

You could not bet against it, but if this super league does happen, they'll wait some time to let the dust settle before adding the next set of changes like this.

What an absolute arsewipe.

United and Arsenal spending club generated money to form one of the great rivalries = cartel
State funded and oil funded clubs = great for the league

feck you dickwad
Mods, are you sure this poster wasn't just attacking the tweet that was posted. Because that what it looks like.

It's looking like that. Team news seems to appear magically early.
It’s funny because we’ve had the same issue with lineups all season. Moving training grounds seemed to stem the leak, but it is curious because surely it can only be coaches privy to that information.

Looks like a mod has jumped the gun on this one.

He was insulting Matt Law i believe, not another poster.

As I understand it, UEFA will throw the 12 clubs out of UEFA on Friday. After that, the players from these clubs are no longer on contract and can leave them. This is a goodbye to Manchester United and all the other 11 clubs as we know them. Manchester United will no longer be Manchester United. They will just have the same name.

That won't happen.

Is it naive to hope that Man.City and Chelsea will do the right thing and back out of this? They are described as backed into a corner in this matter. I know it sounds crazy to be hoping that a club like City would do the right thing, but it seems like these two clubs not were that crazy about the whole idea
Seems the others basically told them, "hey, us cool kids gonna go and smoke behind the bike shed, you coming with? Or you gonna stay here and be nerd-ass losers?" and they didn't want to be nerd-ass losers.

 Seen a few people with a fresh ‘New Member’ title. Think this thread is getting to people. I know which thread I’m going to be reading in a bit after the Liverpool game finishes...

Because Manchester United don't belong in the EL, we should play CL football every year. End of. Real Madrid and Barcelona would never let that happen to them. We shouldn't pay for our management's incompetence.
I’m late replying to this but bloody hell

a poster a few posts up put it well, it’s taking the emotion out of the sport

They are big games because the top players are playing against each other. The champions league has too many filler games
Well, i dont agree. If you dont have lesser games than the big games get less important imo.

Why would kids log of the console, as the tweet suggest, to watch Barcelona-City or Messi-KDB for the third time in the last months when next week they can watch Madrid-Juventus?
Especially when the game is actually pointless as there will be no consequences nomather the result.

this is it essentially, until we find out what's going on. This a farce and a small example of how sterile football could become.

The proposed Super League will have it's own financial fair play rules. I imagine they will be more strictly enforced than the UEFA version.

Things like this irks me. A moral high stand on the oil money. They were the first ones to spoil the whole balance and now they are talking.
No in 1990 when sky tv and others around Europe chose to invest in select leagues only, prioritising some league and clubs at the expense of others was the first event to spoil the balance
