Why it kind of baffles me a little why we're so behind this. We can (in theory) compete with spending with everyone in the world bar 2/3 clubs...why are we taking that competitive advantage away? Well I know why, cos they don't care so long as the bank balance grows... But yeah, they're basically allowing clubs to catch up to us in terms of finances.
I believe they see it that in long run, they would eventually lose out to new money richer kids. Chelsea got their CL, and still about and around the top of PL. City and especially PSG is edging closer to a CL win. There is no stopping clubs being bought out by other states. RM, Juventus, us, Liverpool... are only able to stay at the top while still having our financial advantage over many other clubs. However, they can't sustain the spending while the owner want their share of profit.

Then spending doesn't guarantee CL football, let alone successes. And spending the money wise is not easy for these money grabbers. Inflation only gets worse with more new money getting into the game. Even winning is not enough to pay for the expenses, see Barcelona as recent example.

So these guys want security. By making their own closed competitions, they have more advantage at the negotiation table with the players. If the players want to play in ESL, there are only very few spots available, so choose us or choose new money from new sugar daddy clubs.

Since performance is not harshly punished anymore, it means they have more control on the spending. If they don't feel they can get going in a specific season, they may as well not spending at all. Bottom of the ESL doesn't hurt with guaranteed inclusion. They only need to invest during the star aligning seasons, and even then it's an if for these greedy bastards. They always try to get the most profit out of the situation. If getting to the final but guaranteed losing to a superior, money then they might as well do just that to save money and improve profit margin.

So those are much more advantage in this for these clubs owners than spending money in current climate.

This is true. Still feel he could have come out against this more clearly, and thrown the gauntlet down to the Super League owners as oppose to Gary feckin' Neville.
I think it's calculated on Klopp's part. He doesn't have a pop at the owners because he can't but he still looks like a hero because he had a pop at Gary Neville who is an observer in football.

This. The PL, as a product, will become completely worthless without those clubs.
Exactly, if people are objecting to this they're going about it in entirely the wrong way. Who's going to pay to watch second rate football all the time. The clubs who have money now like Leicester who didn't before will see their revenues plummet and head into a rapid downhill spiral.

I would love to know what his beef is with Gary. Not the first time he's insulted him.
It might just be a Liverpool and United thing. But it’s been going on for 5-6 years this isn’t the first occasion by any means.

Gary is very opinionated and if klopp hasn’t heard the prematch comments then he’s got no knowledge. I also do wonder how things come across to someone who English isn’t his first language.

Now just quite simply and plainly isn’t the time for tribalism but I’ll respect managers who defend their players and supporters. What wont sit right is managers like tuchel refusing to offer any resistance

Reddit isn’t too bad for that to be honest. Most of RAWK will probably be against the ESL but like carra said people will back klopp to the hilt. I’ll back klopp completely unless he endorses the super league, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think he needs to be given the message that this isn’t a personal attack by Gary Neville.
I was only jesting. I’m not actually on Twitter but I’ve heard many times over the amount of idiots on there so nice to hear there’s some reasonable ones as well.

To be fair to Klopp and any player/manager at one of these clubs they’ve been put in an awful position. No way they’re going to be able to please everyone.

The ESL is a rebranding of the CL. No one gives a shit about the corrupt bastards from uefa or fifa, because essentially there won't be a CL without those 12 teams. It would be the Scottish premiership where Bayern and PSG dick everyone for a year or two until they get bored and follow the other big clubs. Don't be naive.

There is currently CL without some of those 12. Namely Arsenal and Milan who havent been in it for what feels like half a decade

I don't see that coming to fruition but I wonder if the big 6 clubs would then apply to the EFL if the other teams vote for them to leave.
I was thinking this but let’s say any of the big 6 finish the season first or second, or get to the play offs for promotion to the PL, they won’t be allowed back in so what would happen, the runner up (who was not a big 6 pl team) gets it instead? The big 6 teams just linger around in the championship for years to come? Find out next on Dragonball Z!

I disagree. The US sports are a very closed market. This means franchise teams up stakes when they lack matchday revenue or can't get concessions for new facilities. Football's global appeal means the real money is in TV revenue so uprooting a club from where it originated would likely have too much of a brand impact.
That's a very good point. Football's global appeal could ensure that the Super League teams will probably never lose their interest or drop in market value. I guess the only ways for those teams to rebrand/relocate would be if they either lose too much money and, therefore, get bankrupted, or they face issues with a municipality over developing their facilities.

Tuchel learnt his lesson at Dortmund and PSG to not go against the bosses it seems.

As much as I love Manchester United, I hope the other PL teams take a stance on this and get those big 6 teams out.

I feel that is the only thing that might make us and the others back down from this Superleague nonsense and see us come back begging for reconsideration.
A league where 6 teams have subscriptions to the biggest European money league is not worth following.

Just a case of emotions running high. He needed to vent so took it out On Neville
Yeah this is true, post match heat of the moment comments aren’t what we should be taking. Klopp has said plenty of ridiculous things in those over the years both for Liverpool and at Dortmund. The important thing is uniting against this farce. It’s on him to realise everyone is on the same side and tbf he and Milner have made those comments tonight. Now it’s up to the rest of the clubs and managers to continue that.

Is Klopp thick? Why is he attacking Gary Neville? Did he really say Neville followed the money by playing for more than a decade for Man United? Huh?

How disappointing. I thought he'd be one of the few managers who'd stand up to this. Instead he's out there attacking someone who probably hates this Super League thing as much as he does.

It was pretty disappointing given how much attention and expectation there was on Klopp to take a bit of a stand. In retrospect people clearly expected too much, but to take aim at Gary Neville was definitely off. If he had watched the clip from last night in its entirety he ought to have known that Neville was talking complete sense and wasn't insulting him or Liverpool Football Club.

The Premier League is a seperate institution from the EFL, I could be wrong here but they could in theory close off the other 14 clubs if they wanted by joining the EFL (if they allow it)

Indeed. Premier League clubs want to exile competition in order to further their position in the league? Shock horror! I honestly believe it's wishful thinking in terms of the participating clubs being severely punished. I don't believe for one second that FIFA/UEFA actually intend on following through with any of their "threats."

What are they going to do, kick the world's biggest clubs out of domestic and international competition? In the midst of a global pandemic? Good luck. I'd love to see how long the Premier League would last (as the global powerhouse it is now) with the likes of West Ham, Leicester, Leeds, and Everton being rolled out as the "big four." Hint: Not very long. That sort of exodus of star power would shatter the league. The threat of players not being able to represent their international side might throw a hiccup in some plans, however. On the contrary, I imagine quite a few are doing their best Jerry Maguire, "show me the money" impression.

Such a radical move might be better for football as a whole, but it's not sustainable financially. This is especially true if stadiums aren't allowing full capacity next season. Speaking from a purely pragmatic, business perspective, your average fan from North America, Asia, Africa, South America, or even England isn't going to tune in religiously to watch Moyes' West Ham. It's a different landscape nowadays. Giving everyone the boot would be like sending your golden geese to the slaughterhouse and then hanging yourself. The "big six" prop up the league in terms of global interest and viewership. Without that interest, the remaining clubs can kiss goodbye any revenue that's utilized for newly promoted sides, parachute payments, trickle down wealth, or massive broadcast deals in the future.

Not to mention, people do realize we're talking about FIFA and UEFA here, right? Two organizations that have been absolutely rife with corruption and fraud for decades? Suddenly they're this arbiter of all that is righteous and just in the footballing world? I keep seeing sentiments like "take back football" on various forums and social media. Alright, absolutely fair enough, but you'll have to reset the clock a lot further back than last week if you want to accomplish that goal! Perhaps FIFA and UEFA should have actually done something to curtail or stop financial doping within the game. Too busy taking bribes under the table, I'm sure. I mean, look at the biggest competitions right now. Oil Club France are on their way to a second Champions League final in as many years and Oil Club England are walking the Premier League. All with a felonious winter World Cup in Qatar looming over the horizon! I suppose for many, it's a case of the lesser of two evils. Again, that's fair.

It's also a bit rich of Sky to be taking the high ground when they helped create this monster in the first place. I'm sure they cared oh-so-much about the little man and grassroots football as they price gouged, globalized, and commercialized English football to hell and back. Spare me. It's not that I disagree with the sentiment, but rather who it's coming from.

Yeah sure. Leeds playing mind games so they can beat Liverpool to make sure Liverpool don't qualify for the CL next seas.....oh.

How thick are they over at that forum? I thought all these tribalism can be put aside in these extraordinary times and situation. Apparently not.

They called you guys 'Legacy Fans'...the contempt.
It’s a disgrace, clubs steeped in a hundred years of tradition and culture. We grow up supporting these clubs not just because we live locally and in England, but because we identify with the values and principles that the people at the club who made it what it is espouse. The likes of Busby Ferguson Dalglish Shankly Paisley. Hardworking players who sacrifice day and night and hardworking people/communities that these clubs are built off the back of. They think they can throw all of that way.

it’s going to be no easy task as these families are worth billions, but if everyone in this sport mobilises it can be stopped.
