After all this, what happens if the Super League DOESN’T go through?

The FAs will have a huge incentive to make referees just prejudice against these teams, and they will never trust these teams ever
To be fair, these clubs have been snakey behind closed doors themselves for however long they have been planning this so

I've got to be honest, as a United fan I just want it all to go away. I want the clubs to have underestimated the backlash and the threat of prevention and consequences from the football authorities and the government, and to back down quickly, and receive no punishment. I think if the authorities can maintain the status quo without punishment, they should, because it seems harsh to punish the playing and coaching staff and the fans for what the owners have tried to do.

But obviously that is an entirely self-interested position. United have finally got ourselves to a point where we are competitive again. It would be crushing to have that taken away now. Better than an ESL - anything is better than an ESL - but still crushing.

To be honest I believe the biggest idiots here are EPL teams. As it stands, the leagues finances were improving to an extent that eventually EPL was gonna be the super league if I’m making any sense.
Their league already has 8 teams if you include Leicester and Everton that people would pay to watch. All they needed was time to get there.

This is the most likely outcome.

With multiple reports that Chelsea are already trying to pull out, this already becomes increasingly relevant.

If the ESL falls through then it will have essentially been a botched coup on these clubs' part and they will have done terrible damage to their reputations and their relationships with UEFA and their fellow clubs.

Hopefully the response is to punish the clubs involved and I say that knowing we're one of them. And institute the sort of reforms that ensure they can't attempt a heave like this again.

And from our own clubs POV, hopefully this revitalises the attack on the Glazers and Woodward.

As much wed love to belive it would knock a few people down a few pegs, I doubt it as money still talks and the big six will still be contributing most to uefas coffers and giving sky the biggest bang for its premier league buck. I wouldn't put it past our lot to bring out some commerative merchandise and bastardise the whole fan revolt a year or 2 down the line.

It's an interesting take and one I tend to agree with. The PL was already outgrowing every other league financially, it seemed like that anyway.

They gave a hell of a lifeline to the likes of Real & Barca.

After UEFA's president quotes today I really believe it's impossible for it to not go through. These clubs have crossed the line in their relationship with UEFA. They won't do all this just to back down after getting some money.

This competition will either go through or the boards of all these 12 clubs will have to leave. The former is easier. The relationship of these boards with UEFA is broken beyond repair.
Nothing is broken beyond repair in business.

Let's not go aboard and tout any one of them as heroes (I'm seeing it happening similar to when Liverpool backtracked on furloughing their employees) for having the guts or whatever to pull out after the backlash.

Honestly, we as fans shouldn't let Woodward and Joel Glazer get away with this, even if they do pull out. They've caused irreversible damage at this stage to our reputation.

I think it will just go back to what it was. What else is there?
Clearly it will go back to the new shitty Champions League format, that is completely like the Superleague format, but with more shitty teams in it, effectively making it a european super-boreoff. Yawn.

Teams involved will get even more dogs abuse at away grounds than usual next season once decent numbers are back, looking forward to it. Just to clarify it will be general chants at ownership as I reckon plenty of players and managers behind the scenes have played their faces at this and 99.9% of fans of these clubs don't want it either.

Still a chance Chelsea, Liverpool and Juve will all be in europa and Spurs and Arsenal not in europe at all so that will be fun aswell.

I never thought it would go through but instead it would help them renegotiate with UEFA whatever they want to negotiate

Well it seems like it’s not gonna happen now.
Personally think it will be mainly forgotten in a few months just used to poke fun at these clubs and cause a few rifts in board rooms.

My main doubt here is, what kind of plan did these founding clubs have that any of them can renounce to it in less than 48 hours? With JP Morgan and the likes involved in it, I would have expected it to be far more solid than it seems now.

The Guilty Six have burned a lot of bridges. They'll lose influence because everyone will openly and vocally distrust their motives. Beyond that, they'll be held out of positions of influence for a good long while.

But the PL needs them, and UEFA needs them, and everyone know it. Penalties will be handed down, but nothing do detrimental that any of them will get drummed out of the PL, CL, or EL leagues. Small points deductions (10 or fewer points) and one- or two-window transfer bans. Enough to hurt, not enough to do permanent damage.

Not sure on points deductions but all being banned from europe for a year seems a logical punishment. Get them licking their wounds and more in tune with the domestic game.

That isn’t going to happen especially as Ceferin held out the olive branch earlier. In the last 48 hours there’s been a lot of soul searching etc but nothing has actually happened bar a lot of opposition from governments and governing bodies.
What interest would it now serve when it’s really been a lot of talk?

It has shown fan power works. It has caught the interest of bandwagon hopping policitos. It has made the Glazers look like xxx's. It has got rid of Woodward, a little before time. It may have bigger consequences, but the all-out Americanisation of European football is probably on the long finger for a while.

25 point deduction for the 6.

Arsenal relegated and the rest miss Europe for a year.
