How should the breakaway clubs be dealt with now?

Seem apparent that 12 of the wealthiest clubs attempted something of a coup and fell spectacularly on their faces.

This has resulted in resignations, reputational damage, the loss of key positions within UEFA, the burning of bridges with their fellow clubs and a near-unprecedented amount of negative publicity, in what was probably the most significant 48 hours in football for generations.

How should these clubs be dealt with going forward? Should they face punishment and if so, what? Should they all be treated equally or should the ring-leaders face harsher punishment? What measures can/should be put in place to ensure this bullshit doesn't happen again?

Who could you say were the ringleaders - surely all 12 are equally culpable.

The PL won’t relegatecthem as it will damage their product. Kick them out of the CL / give them a point deduction so West Ham etc are in it last year and the CL product also damaged so again can’t see that either.

Deduct them all 25 points so Arsenal get relegated

Chelsea deserve credit. They were not antagonisers and made the move that made it cave.

Ban their fecking owners. Or at least pick on Manchester United as usual and at least ban ours.

Nothing will be done and that's how it should be.

Why should there be any punishment for something that never happened, ultimately? Considering that morally, Sky, UEFA and FIFA et al have no leg to stand on in this issue, perhaps it's best if they all go to the negotiating table.

I'm sure those involved will know who the major players were. Ceferin immediately name-checked Woodward and Agnelli, for example. Whereas it was reported from the start that City and Chelsea were less keen (and indeed they broke first).

Be interesting to see if the clubs own fans would want to see them punished for the greater good of the sport. It'd be funny to see a 20-30 point deduction.

Relegation to the championship seems too harsh...especially when Spurs and Arsenal will have to stay down there for two years.

I wouldn't put it past there being behind the scenes negotiations about dropping any punishments as part of how quick this has been withdrawn. Will see i guess

Chelsea deserve absolutely no credit whatsoever.

Chelsea were just the first to get cold feet after it was apparent that the whole thing was untenable.

I’m sure the legislation in the background will just be changed to make this sort of coup more difficult in the future.

That will be what they want more than anything after this.

Nah that won’t hold up - they all signed up so are equally culpable. Can’t have finger pointing as to who started it.

We're in a lucky position in that all our big rivals are guilty too, so I'd be fine with whatever punishment got handed down.

All of us missing out on the CL next year would be irony or some shit.

Probably. I would be very unhappy for Ole and the players to be punished for the actions of the idiots above them, but if the six clubs are all made to eat shit I doubt I could complain.

Just need to continue to pursue the legal routes to make it so it never happens again.

work behind the scenes to make sure the individuals involved don’t work in football again.

I absolutely think we were one of the most culpable, so that's fine by me.

Well Utd are currently 11pts clear of West Ham in 5th

...so an 8pts deduction of each of the greedy teams involved is only fair (which will ensure we still make Top 4 hehe).
