I think most people were rightly worried that Cavani would end up being a waste of time like Falcao.

He's proved to be a fantastic addition to the squad on and off the pitch.

When was the last time we had a player that can just rifle a first time shot into the top corner like that, or play the passes for Bruno's goal and Greenwood's goal.

He's class and he's bringing the best out of everyone around him.

Said it before and will say it again, if only we had got him 5/6 years ago, feck even further back in SAF time, is goal/assist stats would have been unbelievable. He’s got that predators instinct in and around the box. Really hope he stays. Come on Cavani, one more year please!

the quotes themselves from OGS are not as positive as the headline. It’s been a pretty difficult year for him. Hopefully games like yesterday show him what the club is about.

I think there will be some more twists in this - ideally would love this to be wrapped up quickly.
Stone has spoken and an extension is close. Great news and hopefully means the club spends on a CB and RW.

He’s class. We signed Ibra there was doubt due to age he did very well with us winning the EL let’s hope the same result with Cavani. The only gripe I have is we need these players in their prime not when they have 1-2 years left.

Brilliant news coming out. Not only is he actually pretty good, but he gives us another season to make the right call for a no.9. Kane and Haaland are not the only strikers alive, and if we can’t get either of those, our scouts have a full year to do their job and find an alternate good enough for the role.

The quotes are from yesterday. The thrust behind it isn't Ole's latest words but the fact football journalists either side of the River Plate are reporting he has had a change of heart and it's getting done and dusted today.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. He has been playing Burnley, West Ham, Granada, no fans, living in a bubble, winter is fecking depressing there (I absolutely hated it for a decade, know exactly how he would feel finding it's getting dark at 4pm)... None of that inspires you to turn your back on playing for Boca.

Roma though... he knows them well and respects then. He has been playing against them as an underdog since his days at Palermo and last night he must have been thinking "still have a lot of fuel in the tank to play at the highest level, I'm not ready to give up on it just yet".

Well, they played together at two World Cups and won our (record) 15th Copa América together. He sure will have checked with him before moving and Diego was actually raving about Ole and our fans on Marca very recently.
Yes he is. Andy Mitten actually contacted him the day he signed and said "is he still good?" to which Forlan assured him he'd do the business when fit.
Fantastic stuff. Forlan didn't have the best of times here. I'm surprised he still speaks so fondly about the club.

His an intelligent guy who played for the greatest manager ever, of course he will be fond of his time here. Raves about Sir Alex, absolutely adores him (wouldn't you?)

Also has a lot of time for Ronaldo. Never got to play with anything but the showpony version but keeps mentioning how committed he was during training and his drive for perfection.

Not surprised he paid so much attention to that as he was cut from the same cloth in a way. This is a guy who aged 15 was set on being a pro TENNIS player until his sister had a tragic accident. He went to the hospital and promised her she would walk again as he would now play football instead to make whatever money was needed for it.

Fifteen years on he was twice European Golden Boot and the WC2010 Golden Ball. Amazing.

The fans still chant his name. He's loved here for doing the scousers. You put the graft in like he did, and the fans will respect you forever.

It's done. Not sure why no announcement but Boca have been doing the mourning, excusing and saying X or Y is better all morning.

to be honest, I can see why people had an emotional reaction to his signing, but it was obviously a really smart and pragmatic pick up.

Hopefully we can strengthen other parts of the pitch, Greenwood can continue to learn from him and he can continue to chip in.

There was an article sometime ago arguing that when chelsea needed to go all out for him and were idiots taking Diego Costa instead. Imagine if they'd got him in 2013 to replace Torres or 2014 to play with Diego Costa, he'd have been absolutely perfect with Hazard behind. Even in 2016 or 2018.

Not sure who dropped the ball there, but would be interesting to hear chelsea fans recollections on it. @duffer

I love me some salty tears, where are the links?
It wouldn't mean much to anyone, all in Spanish, River fans posting photos of random guys with long hair "arriving at Boca", Boca fans threatening to unfollow him (?), saying it was all a ploy to get better terms, others saying he shows he doesn't have what it takes to play for Boca.

Go find any thread on a target of ours that joined another team and switch the names really.

Costa moved to Chelsea a year after Cavani went to PSG. We were never getting Cavani off of PSG back then so I don't believe it was ever a choice between the two.

Costa was great for us, played a huge part in two titles and an FA Cup. Would Cavani have done as well? Maybe, maybe not.

Cavani over Torres? Of course but then again I'd take almost anyone over Torres.

Don’t get me wrong, stoked he’s staying on another season, but my one criticism of him is that he seems to miss the easy chances and bury the difficult ones. Been known to do that throughout his career, so I’m told. Anyway, his movement in the box and link up play is superb, certainly better than Martial.

This part! All our other forwards are classic ball-hoggers, including mason.

They take too many touches, and rarely take a first-time shot.

i think he's been fantastic for the club and hope he stays another season but NOT if that impacts any recruitment on our forward line as we still are in desperate need of a right wing(at minimum) and a center forward

Here we go!

Get in :drool::drool:
if true - get the feck in!

I’ve not allowed myself to get excited due to the uncertainty. A bit like when you score these days - you need it wait until the VAR check until you can get excited. So I’m still on pause until officially announced.

Very exciting news, though it probably means Haaland nor Kane will be coming here. That was always going to be difficult, so we can now focus on other areas to improve.

Incredible news. The experience this man brings us is invaluable. To have him play his trade another season potentially in front of the fans is

Brilliant. What a great signing he has been. His minutes need to be managed and of course, one top quality attacker still needs to signed but this is a really positive step.

Get in! Great news. Took him a while to get fit but he's been brilliant. Hope he can have a similar impact next season.
