The fact that people chose more Spurs players than Leicester players, when Leicester is 3rd and Spurs 7th, shows that people pick people by their name and skills rather than how they have played this season.

I don't watch enough games outside of United's, so i can't say who should be there apart from ours :)

Who are these people picking De Bruyne  You’ve got city fans posting in here who haven’t even picked him. How the feck is he in peoples teams ahead of Grealish? He’s a top player but feck me he gets grossly over rated by people in this country. And even Foden probably shouldn’t be getting in. Doesn’t play a lot in the league.

The cafe really do love city...

Anyway
Ederson
Cancelo
Dias
Konsa
Shaw
Rice
Gundogan
Bruno
Salah
Grealish
Kane
They are the best side in the league to be honest. Did you see the TOTY selections from last year? It was almost all Merseyside

Is there any clearer sign our club needs to stop with the excuses and wake up than the recent achievements of our rivals these past few years

Back the manager to the hilt FFS. Give it a go.
70-80% of the team picks itself methinks, rest is down to subjective preference...

Substitutes: Grealish, Son, Rashford, Stones, Mount, Foden, Souček

Player of the Year: 1. Bruno Fernandes 2. Rúben Dias 3. Harry Kane
Young Player of the Year: 1. Phil Foden 2. Wesley Fofana 3. Mason Mount

Manager of the Year: 1. Pep Guardiola 2. Ole Gunnar Solskjær 3. David Moyes
I have zero reservations about the entire contents of your post. Absolutely spot on in every way possible.

I think Leicester have been a much more balanced side. They've had multiple players in multiple positions who have played very well. Whereas Tottenham can only really point to Son and Kane who have had good seasons. Leeds are ahead of Villa in the table, but most teams won't feature any Leeds players but there's a good chance that Martinez and Grealish will feature because they've been individually outstanding.

Can only answer for Walker but he's been better than Cancelo over the whole season
What makes you say that Walker has been better? I'm always hesitant to argue against someone who'll have their team week in week out but while I think Walker has had an underrated season I think Cancelo has been better in most aspects of the game, and a more influential figure too. At least when I've watched City.

Cancelo got a lot of (deserved) fame when he started to be utilized as some sort of false fullback (or whatever his role was). But I don't think Walker ever had a "bad" stretch. And he has been outstanding for City recently against top opposition.

Zinchenko on the low has had a great season also.

Could’ve gone with Zouma or Rudiger. I think Zouma has played more so I went with him. Both have been great for Chelsea.

Cash I’m not sure about. Maybe AWB and Cancelo are both in with a shout.

Gundogan has been great but that’s not a great position for him. Swap him out with Ndidi for a better balance.

Finally, Lingardinho maybe is generous from me. Mahrez might be a good shout out on the right, or Salah.

Yeah that's a fair point, and the PSG game the other day was a good example of what Walker can do, and the platform his qualities provide to the rest of the team.

Also very much agreed on Zinchenko, it wasn't that long ago he looked a little out of his depth, but he's come a long way and he and the coaching staff deserve credit for his improvement.

gk could be one of three. Toss coins.
Dias Kane and Gundogan are pretty much guaranteed.
Shaw Salah Bruno are very likely
Mount Grealish and Rice are possibles and probably all deserve it.
Ndidi Maguire Lingard are good shouts.
Thiago silva is a boss. Cancelo is pretty trash. Rashford isn’t close for me. Pogba deserves to be in the running but won’t be.

So without trying to create a balanced team

GK
Shaw Dias T-Silva
Gundogan Mount Rice Grealish
Kane Salah Bruno

Illan Meslier - GK - Leeds
21 years old, the first season in the Premier League and first season as a starter in a professional team, GK in a kamikaze team, and a team with one of the lowest budgets in the League. 10 clean sheets, great personality, and potential, I am delighted with Meslier.

Aaron Cresswell - LB - West Ham
Probably the best season for Aaron Cresswell, one of the players with the most assists in the League and an essential part of a team that surpassed all expectations, deserves to be highlighted.

Ruben Dias - CB - Man City
First season in the Premier League, difficult challenge, who knew him relatively well thought it would be a failure. He surprised everyone and was able not only to win the place but also to become the leader of that defense and to give a solidity that we did not imagine to Pep Guardiola's team.

Tyrone Mings - CB - Aston Villa
Perhaps the most debatable player on this list, but I think it is one of the pillars of this good season for Aston Villa, solid throughout the season.

Stuart Dallas - RB - Leeds
He can play in 5 or 6 different positions on the field, a reference of Bielsa, capable of defending well and scoring goals. Undoubtedly one of the great players of this season.

Tomas Soucek - DM - West Ham
West Ham's big secret. Able to raise 3 elephants and score decisive goals, one of the most influential players in the League, with the humility of a 3rd division player.

Ilkay Gundogan - CM - Man City
The unexpected revival, probably the best player of the year, no one noticed Kevin De Bruyne´s absence, and City will be champions without blemish. Great season!

Bruno Fernandes - CM - Man Utd
The heart of all Man Utd.

Mason Mount - CM - Chelsea
Survived by the criticism and the dismissal of Lampard is undoubtedly one of the greatest talents of his generation, the captain of Chelsea for the next decade.

Jack Grealish - AMC - Aston Villa
Here the decision was between Grealish and Foden, the decision may be unfair, but despite the injury, Grealish's dimension weighs more on me this season. A legendary player.

Harry Kane - FW - Tottenham
The man scores.
Mings?
Good God! A pillar would defend bettrr

Checked the Comparison Matrix on Squawka between Shaw, Chilwell, Tierney and Cresswell. It's not even close. Shaw wins in 3/4 of the offensive and defensive statistics.

If I had to just pick the 11 best players this season it would be (in order):

1. Kane
2. Fernandes
3. Dias
4. Gundogan
5. Phil Foden
6. Salah
7. Cancelo
8. de Bruyne
9. Shaw
10. Son

If I had to make the most best function team out of the players in the league it would be:

Martinez
Cancelo - Dias - Stones - Shaw
Bruno - Rice - Gundo
Salah - Kane - Foden
I actually think this team would be incredible and would possibly play more like a 3-4-3 in possession with Rice dropping back, Cancelo and Shaw pushing up giving pace and width, Foden operating as a 10 and Salah playing off Kane.

Surely these teams should be saved until the season is over?

We don't yet know which players will deliver when the trophies and/or CL footy is on the line!

I don't think Foden has done enough to warrant a selection. His second half of the season has been good, (mainly in the CL), but PL wise he's below the list compared to the likes of Grealish, Son, even Rashford.

Grealish been out for a while, but was up there with Kane as probably one of the best this season.

True, but Liverpool players had the stats to go with it to be fair.
De Bruyne hasn’t had a great season statistically either.
Mahrez has even had a better season.

I’m not really a fan of stats when comparing players. It obviously plays a part, but it doesn’t tell you the whole story.

Although if you want to do it by stats, De Bruyne has 22 starts in the league and 5 goals, 6 appearances in Europe and has 3 goals and 4 assists. They’re pretty good stats.

Mahrez has been great, gone under the radar a little but he’s had a good season.

Yeah it doesn’t, which was actually sort of my point that if he had the stats then i might understand his inclusion in team of the year for those who haven’t seen him closely enough. Usually De Bruyne hits way higher stats though.

Which means people are only putting him in based on reputation. He’s been city’s fourth best midfielder this season.
