You want us to go and sign 32 YO Lewandowski for 70 Mill? Crazy talk!

Kane is a world class player, no doubt at all. If we were to invest, he'd be the safer option but I feel with his contract having three years left on it, he'll still be a Spurs player next season.
I’m pretty sure Lewa will be better for the next 4 years than Kane. You can quote me on that too. A far better footballer all round if you ask me and age isn’t such a thing as it used to be especially for a striker who’s main job is banging in the goals and not running too much.

And why should we trust your predictions? I for one think Kane is a better player than Lewandowski right now let alone in the years to come. It’s much easier to flourish in a league like bundlesliga while playing for the reigning champions for the past 8 seasons. Kane has been tried and tested in the PL and Is almost 5 years younger.

Dont think he can be our RvP. But he sure is a fecking good CF and we badly need one even if Cavani stays.
Think he can be much better with a longer peak. Love RvP but he was only really good for one season.

Lewa's obsession on fitness, nutrition, rest...in managing his body is second to Ronaldo only. He will stay at the top of the game for next 4 years.

If we had the chance to sign either Lewandowski or Kane — and I’m not suggesting we should — it would have to be Lewandowski.

We would be unstoppable with him in the squad playing ahead of Bruno. Now coming back to reality - this isn't going to happen in 2000 years so let's just stop talking about it. Levy will never sanction a sale to Man Utd unless we pay him record-breaking money which we can't given the financial situation.

The club will never want to lock in upwards of 150m dollars on a 29 year old striker with a history of injuries. It is just not going to happen.

I would love to sign Harry Kane and he is absolutely worth 120 million.

He is the type of player that would decide tight games and enable you to break down teams that sit. He only needs a sniff of a chance, and that is discounting just how good his passing and link-up play is.

5 years of Kane, even missing 5-10 games a season, would put us on another level.

Every interview he does sounds like a ‘come get me’ plea to us. Barely even hiding the fact that he’s desperate to come to Utd now.
Genuine question, what makes you think the come get me pleas are to us? We are hardly wining trophies every season right now. What if Kane is thinking of City or Liverpool?

I think it would mean a lot more to a player like Kane to come here and be that final important piece to a club like United winning the league again and it being a special title, than just going to a club like City and participating in something they are already doing.

I can see him in a United shirt and being that key figure and it’s exciting to think about.

He doesn’t feel like the sort of player to just follow the money - I think he probably favours a balance of winning trophies with playing for a club respected by the rest of the world.

If he went to City he'd be following the trophies, let's be honest.

I am sure Byaern's "medical" and "sports science" staff will help him in that too ;)

Certain he is not in our thinking unless we can't get Haaland next summer but happy to be proved wrong

Yes. Wont carry us to the title after finishing 2nd. He wont be the difference between us and City. Will score lots of goals though for sure.
I’m half with you on this, in as much as he perhaps won’t be as good as RVP... however missing chances has been a huge problem for us and is perhaps THE reason the gap between us and City was created after we went into first position.

Just look how poor our forwards returns are compared to last season.

I’ve no doubt in my mind that if we had Harry Kane up front for us this season we would be right up there with City and perhaps even ahead of them.

Bare in mind our exceptional away form, the sheer number of guilt edged chances we have missed and the massive number of dropped points because of those missed chances. Look how ridiculously poor Martial has been, replace him with Kane all season and the difference would be night and day.

It's important to note that in 2012 we finished second on goal difference. This year we're finishing at least 10 points behind the champions bar some cataclysmic event. Comparing the impact RVP had to the potential impact Kane can have is comparing lions to oranges.

With Cavani seemingly staying, I think waiting a year for Haaland (if he is open to joining us) is the best choice.

I agree he’s just a top class footballer too. Better than Kane or anyone else we could ever get in and will be for the next few years still.

He has been the best player in the world for the past 2 years when you look at the record books. One of the genuine greatest strikers of all time.

No offence but rating Kane above Lewa is ridiculous. It’s not even a conversation to be had.

What he did against Tottenham last season for example was a performance of the highest level and this season he’s been equally as good.

Kane doesn’t have the natural talent to match him nor should he be expected to.

Kane doesn’t suit our team as much as many say he does IMO. He and Bruno will be getting in each other’s way.

Kane’s first instinct is to come towards the ball. I’ve watched him closely this season, including yesterday, and again - his instinct now is to come short and link. As the great footballing cliché goes, this is only likely to increase as he ages, as players drop deeper and deeper with age.

While Kane is a top player, I don’t see him and Bruno being a good fit. In fact, I don’t see this 4231 working best for him at all, which I still don’t believe we should be playing anyway. In a 433 - coming short and linking with the wingers is most ideal. Teams play false 9s for instance in this sort of system. Dropping into the pocket all the time in a team with a dedicated #10 isn’t ideal for me. Cavani, for example, believes in attacking the box when we are attacking. Playing on the shoulder. Getting in behind. Bruno, and others, then try to find him.

The wide players we have has been criticised for years for drifting and floating. Not wanting to attack the penalty box instinctively. Then Cavani came in to ‘teach’ them all the areas in which goals are scored. With Kane, I worry that we will again have everyone wanting to get on the ball and not go beyond it.

Kane knows that he doesn’t have the pace to start sprinting forward whenever we are on the move. Injuries and age to a lesser extent are taking a toll (he was never that quick anyway tbh) and now he is looking for others to do the penetrative running. He’ll get that from Rashford perhaps, that’s about it. Haaland, by comparison, is heading in the other direction as soon as we are within 40 yards of goal. That is what a #10 wants to see ahead of him, not to lift his head and see his 9 running towards him. As I said, this will likely worsen with age for Kane. Soon he will be saying Bruno’s spot is his preferred position altogether I suspect, with quotes like how it fan ‘prolong his career’ starting to float about.

Bruno also loves pushing well beyond the striker if you look at the heat maps, so that would work.

Frankly, if he thought he might want to spend his prime years at a Premier League club with a shot of silverware, he shouldn't have signed such a long contract with Daniel Levy of all people. Even if we hadn't just had a global pandemic I doubt there'd have been a club in Europe willing to pay what Spurs will want for him with 3 years on his contract.

Agreed. The amount of service he gets is insane, not that takes something away from Lewa, but there's no comparison between Bayern and Spurs.

If Lewandowski is better than Kane there isn't much in it. Kane is a fantastic footballer, his all round game is superb, he guarantees you 25+ goals a season and he's a leader. Yes please!

In my humble opinion, paying £90M for a 27-year old Harry Kane would be one of the stupidest transfers Man United has ever done. Look at Ed Cavani and what he does on the pitch and then compare him to Kane, who is basically a somewhat improved Lukaku-style attacker. We don't need that and Kane is nothing like Cavani. And while 27 is not old, he is not young, either. I can see Kane declining at 29 or 30, so we may get only 2-3 years out of him for that amount of money? And he is not the ideal style of striker for us? Meh. Hard pass

Hold up.

What?

No wait, hold on just a bit more.

Still. Wut?

Give me two more centuries and I still won't be able to process this statement.

I'd be really interested to know what your take on a 'Lukaku-style attacker' is because personally I see no similarities between Lukaku and Kane at all. And aside from pace, I would say there is no area in which Kane is not significantly superior to Lukaku, both as a striker and as a footballer generally. Indeed, Kane is probably a superior all-round footballer than Cavani, better at dropping deep and play-making, and at least as capable of being a focal point in an attack. Lukaku's not great at either of these things - or at least wasn't for us.

Now I'm not necessarily advocating Kane's signing, but I don't see how he wouldn't be an upgrade on Cavani, nor how he might be comparable to the version of Lukaku we saw playing for us.
