Feel like quite a lot of people will follow this metric tbf.I don't like Marvel movies, and I've enjoyed 90% of Scorcese's work. So on that metric alone I'm going to agree with him

I can appreciate the tears, I felt exactly the same when it appeared I had to go see the movie once in the theater. Thankfully those plans fell through.Tweet

Hurr durr back in my days. Marvel movies are riding a wave now that they've pretty much started themselves, it was all good long term planning, targeting the age group that they knew had read comics and would love to see movie adaptation and now they're reaping the rewards. Weren't most of his movies about gangsters? So ultimately he was doing the same thing but with a different genre. If Marvel movies are a theme park, then so was his Wolf of the Wall Street.
feck off Scorsese you dummy, off you go to the celebrity deathpool thread.
I wonder if that'll be one of the what if episodes?Maybe each time he went it had a different ending that Dr Strange saw would happen.
He's mentally ill I'd imagine.Why though...
I enjoyed the movie, would happily watch again, but why...
Then he bought the Blu Ray and kept watching it all day right? Probably watching it again as we speek now.Tweet

Somewhere out there, Scorcese just kicked his cat in pure anger.
I like them. I also like lots other films. Some of them are silent from the 1920s. Some are Italian from the 1940s, and some are even 1970s films made by Martin Scorsese. I have many types of films in my library and I watch them based on my mood at the given moment. No different to eating a burger and chips every now and then rather than insisting upon haute cuisine every meal.Proving his point really. Anyone thinks Marvel films are good has no idea what films are supposed to be about.
Between Superhero nonsense fast and furious tripe and fecking cgi monsters fighting each other i pity anyone pays to watch that garbage. Just a waste of life

Are you being an opinion snob now? Tsk tsk tsk...Film snobs and music snobs are the worst
Who has pity over people for liking this shit, anyone who cares that much are worse.
Be interesting to hear what Scorsese thinks now, because of COVID cinemas need Marvel movies more then ever to stay in business. I know quality wise it won't change for him but his other point was taking up screens and so on. At this point without these films (not just Marvel, DC, Fast and others) isn't a cinema industry. I know people say that's always been the case, which partly true but this is different.
This analogy has been used a few times in this thread. And it works. So long as you remember that burgers are fundamentally inferior cuisine. Easy to make, not very good for you and all a bit samey.I like them. I also like lots other films. Some of them are silent from the 1920s. That's like saying Boxing needs Jake Paul which clearly is not the case. Marvel is the Jake Paul of cinema. Even the actors in them know they are garbage
Yeah, but what was insinuated is that someone who enjoys something that is inferior is wasting their life. If it's a choice someone has made that will make them fleetingly happy and offer a moment of hope and comfort, then that should be considered a good use of their time. This analogy has been used a few times in this thread. Even if they are a tasty guilty pleasure every once in a while.
Does the Media Museum up there not show movies? It's all I know about Bradford tbh.Boxing isn't dead though or close to it. My local cinema on my street had to shut out for good recently, multiple chains have had to shut, Cineworld was so close to shutting down too. Cinema was dying before COVID (edit- I know people will say that's because of Marvel, I would disagree this issue started before those films opened), this has made it worse.
That is taking me back Media Museum, the flying carpet (no one get that reference). Though last thing I saw was the final ep of Planet Earth in 06 in the iMax. I still think it shows educational things but the iMax is propped up by selling tickets for big movies. The rest gets government funding from what I remember.Does the Media Museum up there not show movies? It's all I know about Bradford tbh.
Don't agree with this point at all. There is space for all sorts of films. Some people enjoy marvel films. I love Fast and Furious. There's a space in cinema for art house, blockbusters, Oscar bait, indie films, sports films etc.Proving his point really. Anyone thinks Marvel films are good has no idea what films are supposed to be about.

Marvel movies fans sound like Amadeus with pochettino.

Not even close to being true.Do you not get sick of them?
I watched loads of them, enjoyed them but I thought Endgame was fine point to jump off. I tried Wandavision, same old guff. Totally had my fill of the MCU, they're all the same at this point. All the characters in that video, they've all been in a dozen+ movies at this point.
yes it isNot even close to being true.
Some people are massive comic fans and will watch these with delight. I know my best mate grew up on these comics so it's loving it.Do you not get sick of them?
