Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
Plenty of Liverpool (and other oppo fans) are supportive of yesterdays protests.

Of course you can go to somewhere like RAWK and cherry pick some shitty comments but let's be honest, I could select a load of comments from various Man United fans on here and paint a picture on a Chelsea site that you're against the protests.

Redcafe would be the same (critical) if roles were reversed (with Liverpool fans). It's disingenuous pretending otherwise.
Personally, I understand United fans ire against their club owners but to suggest rival fans from other big six clubs join in to protest changes in management? Well no not for me. We have the best club owner and administration (Bruce Buck and Marina Granovskia) in the world and I wouldn't swap them for any other.
We did our fair share in protesting the I'll adviced ESL move and the club quickly responded by pulling out.
We have our men's first team in the FA Cup final, one foot towards a CL final and the women's first team in a CL final and close to winning the league. We are good here thank you.
“We are good here thank you, we have our Russian billionaire who took us over when we were the Blue Spurs, bought us our trophies & history, so feck everyone else who isn’t as fortunate as us”

Remember, pre takeover you were level with Newcastle & Leeds, two sides who have collapsed in stature. Could easily have been Chelsea without your sugar daddy.

Take a look at the official Liverpool FC website. The forum on there discussing the protest is 99% hammering United fans. The odd poster defending us is immediately shouted down. People in glass houses and all that...

If you are honest , the first part of that sentence is true, a lot of United supporters , especially the younger ones., are indeed just jealous of City running away with the title and probably the CL. I said it earlier if United had won rather than lost 3 of the first 4 games of the season, and had 9 more points before the Liverpool match there would have been NO demonstrations at all.
And the hypocrisy about the ESL , with United ignoring the threats of the FA and Football League to enter the European Cup in 1956 is clear.
Its true the Glazers have employed typical debt management to buy United, but this argument is now almost 20 years old, its got hairs on it. Its also true that Woodward and a succession of managers have spent millions on poor transfers and wages. Indeed a good argument could be made United would have been a lot better spending say 10% on refurb of OT over that time, but that would not exactly have gone down well either with some elements of the fans.
The Glazers are far from ideal, neither is the financing structure. But in its history United have had worse owners that didn't stop the Club being successful.
Think the biggest impact on the club was SAF retiring. The Glazers were just basking in his glory and it has gone downhill since. The fact they are not really interested in football means they don't have a clue how to put it right.

This is why people protesting need to not act like clowns throwing flares and damaging property. It's way too easy for the narrative to be distorted.

I think the larger message is harder to condemn, but it gets overshadowed by the actions of a small minority.
I really think this should get repeated more often. Effective protest requires discipline, and a few morons shouldn't just be excused - they'll be the ones that given the naysayers an avenue to dismiss the whole movement.

I think theres an undercurrent of support/understanding amongst other fans.
You might not hear it though - I live in East Yorkshire now and the chances of anyone here saying anything remotely positive about United or our fans is next to zero, however they really feel about the protest...
(Unless you bump into a fellow United fan that is!)

People's ability to accredit individual opinions to a whole group, especially when it's a group they dislike, has always amazed me.

Once it becomes violent any grievance you have is lost and it became violent as it usually does.

The problem with protests is when you get large number of people together there will always be the chance of idiotic scumbags jumping in just to wreck things and they tarnish everyone else.

What would you expect of the "Pretty Woman" lot, across the city?
They are just happy to spread em for the money.

Their reaction to their owners being a founder member of the ill-fated ESL?
"They didn't mean it."

Like an abused spouse, willing to forgive anything, in fear of losing what they have.

Yeah, their opinions are as irrelevant to me, as their corrupt trophies.

I don't get why fans would go to all that trouble to participate in the protests to then jeopardise the whole thing by lobbing flares, attacking police and destroying property etc. Just imagine how powerful the message would have been if an angry but peaceful protest had succeeded in calling off the biggest club game in English football, particularly to the US audiences who on the whole don't really understand football anyway.

People on here can knock the supporters who call out the violence and question their loyalty as much as they like but that should really be directed at those short-sighted individuals wo felt the need to overstep the mark.

Tbf to Chelsea and City fans, if not for their owners they would be midtable and championship teams. So they don't have anything to protest against the owners.
No we dont sorry to say. For years we've been on the end of extremely negative reporting about ruining the league and sportswashing. We've seen our owners put money into the area, the stadium, the club, and the team but all we've heard is hatred. (I actually think its been more about upsetting the applecart of the PL and european football).

All that time we've seen corporate america sucking money out of the game and for us the question is who would you rather have in charge, and for us it is a no brainer sorry to say.

Having said that I have a lot of respect for Utd bringing this to a head, it is the only way things will change, for me the yanks have to go. kowtowing to american markets is completely the wrong way for football to go, they'll bleed it dry and move on to another cash cow.

Can't imagine why that is. Billionaire owners come in, spend funds no one else can, make enormous losses, increasing overall costs for the non-billionaire clubs. This forces clubs wanting to compete with clubs like PSG/City to over-stretch themselves, and now are facing genuine existential financial threat.

So of course clubs will resent the actions of City. Even if you totally ignore the most important thing here - WHY City's owners bought City - from a purely sporting perspective it makes no sense to have a few teams in a 'league' that don't have to spend what they earn. As I've posted many times in other threads, the sheer scale of City's spending is utterly staggering. It is so far outside of anyone else that anytime they don't win the league it's a pretty exceptional circumstance. Any other simply could not have spent anywhere near what City did, or they'd be out of business. Closed down, liquidated, kaput. That's why there's some resentment.

Couldn't give 2 flying fecks about rival supporters criticising us for the protest and calling for us to get punished.

It just further shows human hypocrisy on a grander scale. As soon as the initial euphoria of the ESL boycott was gone, the tribalism came back in full force.

I have to say fair play to the Arsenal fans, they are the ones that can understand our position the best. I feel like our best chance is if the organised fan structures from both teams help each other in order to further the agenda against these parasite owners.

Newcastle fans on their forum have been supportive, which is to be expected given their history with Mike Ashley.

I thought west Ham would be more for the protests to but their forum has been quite split.

Liverpool is a given to be anti anything United do.

I'd imagine the fans of clubs whose owners pump their own money in would be less amiable to the protests - the likes of Chelsea, Everton, Villa, City etc.

And then the likes of Leicester, Brighton etc who are probably quite happy with how their owners have been running their clubs.

In a sense United is quite unique in that it's one of the few clubs to have been saddled with such large debt through a leveraged buy-out.

Had a browse on a few forums. City and Liverpool obviously outraged
It’s so transparent it’s embarrassing. City seem to think the whole thing revolves around stopping them winning the league whilst Liverpool fans are just taking pot shots.

Pretty much every other set of fans are generally for it. Even Leeds had a good number backing it. As they know exactly what it’s like to have shite owners. Same for Sunderland, Sheff Wed etc.

I've had a look this morning on forums of rival clubs to see the reaction to yesterday's protest. I hoped that the fans of the other 'Greedy Six' clubs would be behind the protests and support the fight against the leeches that are trying to ruin our game.

The condemnation by other fans (especially Liverpool) is unbelievable. Their faux outrage at the few idiots who went too far yesterday with the throwing of flares and bottles is laughable. Have they coveniently forgotten the 'welcome' they gave to the City and Real Madrid team coaches as they arrived at Anfield.

Liverpool fans lambasting the behaviour of United fans, you couldn't make it up.

edit: moderator removed the uncalled for naughty bit at the end
Insane - I had a look at RAWK and it was the same idiotic vitriol at United fans (as they're the civilized ones, don't you know, they got Gillet and Hicks to go by just writing poetry online) and calling for three points to be awarded to LFC. Phucking small time cretins.

It's understandable that City and Chelsea supporters would not want to go against their owners especially after pulling out of the ESL. Why should they? They are not leeches like The Glazers and they have put their own money in.
Why should they want United to have a good owner and start winning trophies? We would want them to have terrible owners and ruin their clubs too.
This now has got nothing to do with the ESL anymore. This is between the owners of United and the supporters.

Or would we? Football is enjoyable when there's competition. Or how would you like us to play a League 2 level opponent every week and get a meaningless trophy at end of season?

If it were up to me, I'd just give them the 3 points. Their "all conquering best team in the world" obviously need it more than us. Absolutely pathetic.

I've not looked at RAWK but I'm struggling to believe that this is your average Liverpool fan's position. I really thought, on average, this is one area we could agree on. I'm hugely disappointed if this is a true representation of their fanbase.

I am a United fan.
I would love to see Liverpool and City in the 2nd Division while we play in the PL.
There are other clubs that I don't mind. It would never be meaningless so long as there are clubs in the PL that gets to the CL and they will make money and compete.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
In some cases it probably depends on which forum you go to. I checked out one Spurs forum towards the end of the protest and they were mostly scathing towards the Utd fans. I looked at a different Spurs forum the next day and they were mostly supportive. The Arsenal forum I looked at was also mostly supportive.

It turned from a protest into hooliganism when the bottles started flying. Football fans just can't help behaving like scum. I was fine with the protest and agree with it but I hope the club get punished for the violence.

They have a clue though. They hired what they perceived to be the best man for the job. Without a hindsight lvg is a good option, so does mourinho considering where we were back then.

It doesnt work. But hardly atrocious their planning. It's easy for us to critized in retrospect and how we should done this instead of that attitude. But every bit of the way i can say majority agrees with united decision. Even moyes, even if that stems from blindly trusting SAF.

And in the 8th years post saf they started to get things right so far with ole and his rebuilt.

Just throwing things out there.

This. There's multiple facets of yesterday protest. You can agree and support the cause and at the same time disagreeing with the vandalism.

People Saying lines such as "the damages is worth the cause" is the real downer for me. This is football, not BLM.

I agree and support the cause.
I dont agree with the vandals.
I think the protest could be arranged better.
I dont think this protest alone will change much.
I think this could be a catalyst for further protest though.
I think we deserve to forfeit the match.

There's really multiple takes and no one size fits all agree or not agree.

And it's that kind of attitude that sees the English game in a mess. I'm alright jack cause of our billionaire owner whilst other clubs go under like Bury.

Nice one.
The english game is in a mess? How so? It's never been better than it is now. Your management might be in a “mess” but not the league.

Well we did get the sugar daddy who's been good to us. Let me see who I'd rather have own my team...Roman ,FSG or the Glazers? Wow that's a tough one!
You can protest your management all you want...more power to you. We are good with Roman thank you.
Also didn't Newcastle have a major cash investment some time ago, but got relegated just like QPR? It's not our fault they couldn't get a good management come with the massive investment.
You might have your qualms about how Roman got his money, I don't really care I don't know him...but in terms of managing the club I love to watch and support on a Saturday afternoon, I would change him for anybody.

Nail on hammer right here! It's funny some fans on here pretending this is a league thing all the fans of the “big clubs” should join in protesting United’s poor management. Those same people are the ones who go on tirades pissing on the likes of City, PSG, Chelsea etc owners who are actually investing in their teams and communities...building world class training facilities, infrastructure and academies....just because they have cobbwebs in the closets the Western media don't hesitate to bring to light. But the American leeches are saintly who got their wealth through no neferious activities at all. They are angelic leeches!
Also it's hard to pinpoint what these United protestors really want. They don't want to be run like a profit oriented business anymore, they also don't want Arab/Asian investment and of course absolutely despise ‘Sugar Daddies’ so unless there is some benevolent entity out there who loves United so much it'll let them spend whatever they want on transfers etc without taking anything out but at the same time not so much as to not qualify as a ‘Sugar daddy’....I don't know what all this is about.

For your "world class academy" youve produced feck all really since Roman came in.

You really don't get it at all do you. Like literally have zero idea or understanding of the matter. I thought Souness was bad the other day but you really take the biscuit.

Tbf they have no reason to protest against their owners. Why would they, without their owners, they are maybe close to Newcastle and Sunderland. For us, Glazers are shit for the club taking out shit loads of money, for them club is still in league/not midtable because of their owners.

IF you mean the reactions of the rival fans for the protests, well we can't expect everyone to be onboard also I don't expect few of the clueless rival fans to even understand why there are protests.
