Actually it is not racist at all. He did not put down Aogo because of his race but because of his words as a pundit. When you say someone is a "quoten sth" than you are saying that he is not qualified for the job but only gets it because of a special personal quality/background.

So in this case it means that Lehman thinks that Aogo only got the job because he is black. This does not mean that he looks down on Aogo because of him being black, but because he does not agree with his opinion/work as a pundit.

Of course, Lehman could have actually meant it in a sarcastic way. Maybe he really likes Aogo. Could be possible, as well.
Was it a clever comment?

Well obviously not. However, the way he said it it is not racist. Of course, in today`s world it is too much to ask from people to understand the difference and he`ll be cancelled for the rest of his life.
Of course Lehman`s explanation is totally stupid and makes no sense.

What makes you think his IQ is above the average footballer?
His explanation seems like something someone with a low IQ would come up with. Not to mention the fact that he sent that text to Aogo himself of all people.
I have to say, though, that shortly after his active carreer as a footballer and in his active carreer as well, he came across rather clever for a football player. But yea, I should definitely reevaluate my opinion in that regard, absolutely true.

From my experience, people in the Netherlands and Amsterdam were far more anti mask, anti social distancing than in North Carolina. I've heard the same is true of Sweden.
I'm in Sweden now. It's not anti mask, the government just haven't enforced it at all. Only this last January did they start 'recommending' people wear masks on the tube during rush hour. A lot of Swede's are upset that the government have essentially left old and vulnerable people to die, who are dropping like flies and have been for some time. Masks are pretty common in Stockholm city centre.

Lunatics. You would laugh at the stuff they seriously believe. There are people who believe the "Bundesrepublik Deutschland" is actually a company founded by the US and all its citizens are employees and you know why? Because our passport is called "Personalausweis" and "personal" also has the same meaning as "human resources" in German. No joke. They also think that the pandemic is a gigantic conspiracy to suppress their human rights and the vaccines will insert a chip to control their minds. Also, we're ruled by lizard people who either live in the center of the globe or in space. They go fully qanon over here. Fortunately it's a relatively small proportion of the civilization, they are only overaveragely loud.
Thanks, that's fecking mental. I presumed it was a small percentage but this girl was proper into the conspiracy stuff. She kind of suggested she was big into drug culture as well. I didn't bother texting her back.

Oh, and about "Aogo the victim".
The guy is an open fan on his social media of homophobic, misogynist, anti - semitic and ableist "musicians". So give me a frikkin break. Of course no one will call him out on that.

It really is a small percentage. Reichsbürger, corona-deniers and the likes are a very loud minority in Germany. They were always there, covid simply gave them a proper stage.
For example: Around 15-16k "Reichsbürger" are detected by german authorities. Thats 0,02%.

Jens Lehmann post career scumbag achievements:

- Homophobia
- Tax Evasion
- sentenced for hit and run assistance
- accused of attempted assault
- insensitive comments on Enke`s suicide
- Covid downplay/denial
- Racism

He`s on a great run, I wonder what he can add to that impressive list.

Yeah, over here we all know I few people who fully bought into this stuff although you'd never have expected them to do so. Not only the less educated population clusters but also college graduates, etc. Doesn't help that some celebrities joined this madness, too.

I'm a bit surprised that this problem isn't as severe in the US or Britain because for what it's worth, I think something like Brexit or Trump getting a majority would be impossible in Germany since the conspiracy theorists and far rights are in clear minority (probably between 5%-15% of the population), especially since all this qanon, anti vax, etc. bullshit originated across the pond if I'm not mistaken.

I would not neccessarily mixup conspiracy theorists with far right leaning people, though. I highly doubt the numbers of corona deniers, Reichsbürger and the likes (conspircay theory believers) are even close to the number of right/far right thinking people.

I agree regarding the Reichsbürger movement but I'd estimate that there are far more conspiracy theorists than far rights. In general, I believe this works like a very disturbing engagement funnel and the far right intentionally uses it for recruitment. There's a conspiracy theory for everybody. Disliking the US? Here's Russia Today for you as well as some nice conspiracies regarding 9/11, the moon landing and various wars. Tired of wearing masks? Here's a super scientific article of why they don't work and why politicians want you to wear it. Angry at the establishment? Maybe you want to get to know something about pizza gate. Fed up with the government? Here's information about the shady weaponry deals we made with country X.

And once you're in, it gets worse and worse. They always build it around some facts and mix everything up to give the impression it is legit. At some point the holocaust didn't happen or the US is secretly still running Germany. I think you'd be surprised how many people believe in stuff like this. Also in certain population clusters. Especially young adults with migrational backgrounds are very prone to it since they grew up with such a deep rooted hate for the US. I've got circles of friends in which I'm being laughed at for arguing that 9/11 wasn't staged. Many people are willing to believe almost everything if it is in line with their world views, sympathies and problems.

in particular I would not mix up Brexit with conspiracy theorists, corona denies, Reichsbürger and other idiots. While it is true that this very unlikely to ever get a majority in Germany, it is a valid position and I for one would totally support Germany leaving the EU or rather the EU disbanding all together. The covidiots are quite something, though. I saw a girl on Tinder who had something like "no Corona proponents with masks please" in her bio. I mean, do people even think about what words mean at times?

In Sweden the narrative is that masks help spread the virus more quickly.

Well, you say there are far more conspiracy theorists than far rights. I highly highly doubt that. I'd call AfD and (most of) their voters far right, for example. Estimated 10% in the next election, which means they're like several million.
Conspiracy theorists and the far right overlap in the sense that almost every conspiracy theorist will be far right, but most of the far right won't be conspiracy theorists (in the sense of a Reichsbürger, covid denier, QAnon and so on..). I personally know one guy who is a holocaust denier and usually very open for every conspiracy theory there is, he's far right as well and obviously a covid denier. But that's about it, and due to my profession, I know quite a lot of people who are far right. People are very open once they feel secure and know I can not by law tell anybody what they told me.

Actually it is not racist at all. He did not put down Aogo because of his race but because of his words as a pundit. When you say someone is a "quoten sth" than you are saying that he is not qualified for the job but only gets it because of a special personal quality/background.

What a stupid defence. If Aogo was white, do you think Lehman would state that he got his role because of his skin colour? Obviously not.
So why is Aogo’s colour of relevance, just because he’s black?
Micah Richards and Jermaine Jeans get a lot of similar comments on here to be honest, it’s simple underhanded racism.

The German word for 'ratings' and 'quota' is the same. So his excuse is that his message was just a pun, i.e. Aogo being the 'ratings black guy'. Oh dear.
How does that excuse help him. The issue is not whether he said ratings or quota. The significant issue here is that he called out a guy based on the color.

Its sad but mostly because its not unexpected. At least not to me as a Black person. I'm not saying I expect other every non-Black person to speak negatively about me when I'm not present. Just that it doesn't shock me that they do. In my experience, there's always going to be someone who is hiding what they really think and will let the mask slip when they get comfortable. Its not everyone but its almost always someone.

People will say: 'But he played with X.' Trust me, all those days when Lehman was in the dressing room with Sol Campbell, Patrick Viera and Thierry Henry he was probably thinking this stuff. However, in that company he will have kept it to himself. What he was doing or saying when he was alone with only other white people...I can't say cos I wasn't there. I can imagine their sense of humour got quite colourful though.

The word Quotenschwarzer is absolutely racist. It's suggesting that he's just got the job because of a certain quota which has to be met for black people to attend in the sports to feign diversity for the sake of political correctness. Thus reducing him to the color of his skin and in the same moment degrade him because of said skin color. It's textbook racist by all standards.
feck off, please.

I don't understand how it's possible to send a message to the wrong person on whatsapp. You'd have to be very absent minded/wrecked or have some odd naming conventions in your contacts.
People do that a lot. Especially if you constantly switch between various conversations on whatsapp. You could always select one above or below from the conversation.
It is a lot difficult to make a mistake if you are going to text someone for the first time.

When I used to buy cocaine from this guy, I’d chill in his house for a little bit. I already knew he was an antivaxxer (this was before COVID) and he had some weird opinions. When I went to pour myself a glass of water from the tap he went a bit mental at me because of the chemicals they put in it. This from a guy who not only did coke on a daily basis, but was injecting his awith steroids.

He was convinced Pokemon go was a plot to keep tabs on everyone the government deemed dangerous, but had his location on snap always displayed with his stories showing everything from weed to heroin. He also thought cannabis oil could cure cancer and that chemo was by nature designed to cull the population.

He also had a phase where he would shit in carrier bags rather than the toilet. I never really got a clear answer on the reason for that. Weird guy.

And that's what I doubt. From what I've experienced, conspiracy theories are e. g. very popular among young people with migrant backgrounds who are definitely not far on the right of the political spectrum, often supportive of refugees etc. And there are many people who believe that 9/11 and the moon landing were staged who are no far rights either. They simply hold a grudge against the US and cannalize it this way. And then there are also esoterics for example who are very prone to conspiracy theorists. Moreover, I'd say there are many conspiracy theorists in the far left, too. It really is a very heterogenic group and you're sometimes caught by surprise who gets caught in their nets, too.

Maybe it also has to do with the entertainment industry. People assume that House of Cards is an accurate portrayal of the political landscape or that every event has a secret meaning to it. Some use conspiracy theories to overcome cognitive dissonances, others just want to be "cleverer" than the rest, possibly because they feel left behind, others use it to create a basis to justify their stereotypes or antipthies. The far right has simply started utilizing those very infective ideas as recruitment funnels since the people prone to such theories can be manipulated quite easily.

Depends on what you're clustering as together but a lot of far right ideologies feed off of Scandanavia and the "destruction" of Europe by immigrants. I don't know which was first. Only difference I've experienced is Europeans of this viewpoint are generally smarter in hiding it while far right Americans are blunt and in your face.

He could possibly, possibly at the very biggest of stretches claim that by using the term as a pun he was actually making fun of the racist meaning. But it's just too ridiculous and there is no way he actually meant it that way. This is a guy misspelling the word Quote, lest we forget.

I only know far right conspiracy theorists and have read about them having connections mostly to the far right, so I assumed this was actually the case. There will be more diversity for sure, but I still think conspiracy theorists more or less tend to be far right. And as far as I know, most conspiracy theories have some kind of rightwing context or a large amount of followers on the right. QAnon, Holocaust deniers, Reichsbürger for example are definitely right wing conspiracies. Lizard people conspiracies and others show a close and obvious resemblance to antisemitism.

I'd also say having doubts about 9/11 and the likes is - at least to me - less crazy than say being a Reichsbürger or corona denier (there are different shades of craziness). What I'm trying to say is, many of the true conspiracy theory believers are most likely actually people suffer from mental illnesses who should be treated, while the far right are far more people and do not get the "get out of jail free card" due to mental illness, they're assholes, not patients. Also, the conspiracy theorists I know about are absolute losers in life, like, have no job, no proper education, started substance abuse and so on, but not neccessarily stupid, which leads to them having too much time in a bad environment to think about things. They often find refuge in these conspiracy constructs and are able to still feel some kind of superiority due to their extensive youtube knowledge. Main problem is their own brain, I'd say, at least in many cases.

It didn't, it added an insult to everyone's intelligence on top of the racist insult towards Aogo. Worst attempt of an apology he could have come up with.
But as has been said before, it's not a surprise as the guy is a certified grade A prick and lunatic.

It happens and it's because you have the name of the person you are talking about in your head so you click on them instead of the person you are supposed to send it to.

Out of sheer curiousity, that's the only one I would've liked to hear more about. Must've been a bizarre conversation to learn of that in the first place.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's connected to these stories how the Russian secret service collects Putin's fecal matter on a state visit, so foreign agencies can't possibly get health related information out of it. Did you ever hear that one? Surely exists in a version about any big head of state.

It's probably a similar paranoia, that he would by spied on via analysis of his excrements?

Not heard that no... ! Helluva job if it does exist. Work your way into some intelligence position, first job; monitor dumping activity, collect poo. Lovely.

Luckily for Jens Lehmann he lives in Germany so won't have too much of a public backlash to face after this.

He got fired from the Hertha supervisory board and from his pundit job at Sky...
