He can have Mata, Matic, Dalot, Periera and Phil Jones for 40 mill. That should get him started.

If Sam Allardyce can keep on getting jobs, I don't see how Mourinho couldn't.
Sam's achievements are legendary...

I actually think that this job might be just right for him.

A club who has been floundering recently so no real expectations to win anything of note, fans who are sick of their open expansive play and want to tighten it up, a league where there aren't any mega teams to compete against, gives a lot of media / fan interest to Roma, the Italian media also view Mourinho a lot different than the English media and won't purposely try to tear him down the second he drops a player.

On a personal note I hope he does well there so the league isn't as boring as it has been for a long time in regards to title challenges
This was my first reaction until I remembered I thought the exact same when he joined us, and again when he joined Spurs, although if that's correct about Roma fan expectations you could be right.

That said, he replaced managers at United (possession, strict coaching) and Spurs (attacking, careful man managemnet) who were the exact opposite of him and both were disasters.

I don't really know anything about the Roma manager or how they play (save for how shite they were against us) but what Jose probably needs at this point is a team of aging journeymen and a club with low expectations of achievement and football style. A team who are grateful to have someone with his CV even when he treats them like shit and plays awful football, because that is what will happen.

I actually think this job might be even worse for him than the ones he's had in recent years. Because it's going to require exactly the qualities he most conspicuously lack: Working with youth, nurturing talent, pragmatically adapting style of play to the character of the squad, building confidence and commitment from the players. With no big transfer funding, he can't afford a man management style that routinely leaves good players by the wayside.

It is a good job to relaunch his career mainly because the team needs more than 1 season to have a balanced squad. But Roma fans will not be patient with bus parking tactics, because they know they are a club with little history to fight for the title, they expect to be entretained at least.
Look at Rudi Garcia, who actually did a good job at Roma, but his football was very cautious and fans were all over him.

Jose and long term

Roma need to hire a competent modern manager and give him some funds. That is the only way you progress. I believe they may stay out of the CL spots for a while, nevermind title challenge

All he has to do is get champions league football and he will be seen as a success which is easily more possible than the more competitive premier league

I was more referring to the managerial merry go round circus in the PL. If shite managers can keep on getting jobs, is it that surprising that a decorated manager like Jose can get jobs too? The hate on Jose on here is unreal.

I think Mourinho has been on a cash-grab tour with his last 4 jobs (since his return to Chelsea). He would take any club if they pay him enough.

Amazon should just sign him up to follow him around on his managerial journeys. That would be a good drama. Roma probably factored that in. Would help their finances & boost their global profile.

Maybe you should start a blog if you don't want any replies from other posters. Also do you want me to remind who replied to whose post? That too with irrelevant nonsense. At least if that was somewhere relevant and not usual nonsense, then you can expect proper reply.

It's rich you calling anyone a sensitive soul

You will always be the poster with s missing and your every post just proves that.
You internet too serious buddy.

In other words, a top 4 trophy that he repeatedly claimed was all Wenger could do at the end of his tenure and which made the latter a "specialist in failure".

I guess that's Jose now.

I hope he does take Mata and Matic with him, that could easily be a win for all concerned.
Why would he desperately want to sign this Mata when he willingly sold prime Mata?

He actually used him regularly at United. Don’t think he will sign him, but not impossible.

Bet he is out in 2-3 years. Rich, money making, dinosaur; cashosaurus or something in the ancient city of Rome.

Could we see him at Olimpico tomorrow at the game? He may want to see his future team playing live and see Matić, he should get some minute, maybe even start the game. And Pogba celebrating in front of where he sits if he scores

He's not going to have much input in transfers at Roma. That's why they brought a whole new football department. HE will have similar role as he had at Porto.

Reported that Real talked with him about the managerial job just before appointing Carlo, and that he wasn't interested in a return. Now, I expect most people to think it's rubbish, but wouldn't Real feel the need to reject that if untrue?

Pretty amazing if that's what happened.

Dont think he'd say no to Real now, he didn't when he was at his peak in 2010 and certainly wouldn't in his current state, just like Ancelotti.

I wouldn't be surprised, Perez wanted Mourinho back before Zidane returned as well, according to the rumors.

Perez may understand money, but otherwise he is an idiot.
